sorry to be a:postwhore:but my rear brakes have gotten to where they lock up when jus barley applying the brakes it started out just when i was settin and it rained the first time applying them theyd lock up but now i can feel them grabbing all the time:banghead:. i know the shoes arent wore out due to a few months agoe i had a wheel seal and bearings go down:spend:due to prevous owner over tighting the nut:doh: the shoes where cleaned with brake cleaner. has any one else had this issue ?

You did say that when you released your brake there was a delay in the cable releasing. If the lube does not help the cables appear to to be pretty cheap to replace. Either way problem solved. New cables=longer solution.

well what is happining is that when i release the park brake the passenger side rear wheel isnt realesing correctly i thought cable to but i can get under neath and the cables both of them move very freely im going to have to tear in to that side and check it because that side is also locking up when i apply the service brakes something is too tight or binding in there

it could very well be sticking inside the drum. I, too, replaced my pass. side park cable from RockAuto.com It was easy, and quick. Sounds like you may have a couple different issues (same as my '96) compounding the problem.

The easiest way to back off the adjuster is to use a small thin screwdriver (or something similar) Poke it in just above the starwheel (that is where the self adjuster is). When you push it you should feel some spring pressure then you can use your brake spoon (at the same time as you are pushing the screwdriver) to turn the starwheel to back off the brakes. Most of the time you would have a difficult time pulling the drums with the brakes adjusted up.

ok heres a update i figured out it is just the passenger side locking up, i tore in to it and the shoes where covered in oil prob from where the shoes got gear oil on them when the wheel seal failed and they soaked up the oil plus i looks like i have that wheel cylender leaking to so the plan is to replace the wheel cylender and rear brake shoes

dont forget to clean the hell out of the drum, or replace it.

my left seal went out long ago, i have to replace the drum and shoes, im gonna do both sides so my e-brake will grab with confidence for once...

sorry guys ive been away way too long but for any one else that reads this i tore it down replaced wheel cylenders and brake shoes and cleaned drums in soapy hot water then thuro cleaning with brake cleaner reassemled and adjusted working like new now ive put 20k miles on it they havent grabbed once sence
