Today I filled the Dodge and while I was there a guy walked up and asked about the 2 stroke oil I was pouring in the fuel tank. During the discussion, he whipped out a jug of STP and poured it down his fuel tank then started filling. He said he heard of the 2 stroke and why people used it, but he preferred STP instead. He mentioned it quite his truck engine, lubed the fuel system and he has been using it for a while. (he said his dodge is a 2002). I have searched all I could on this, even the info here and 2 other sites: http://articles.mopar1973man.com/general-cummins/36-fuel-system/68-hfrr-testing-of-common-diesel-fuel-additives and I have yet seen a test on STP in diesel fuel, or even someone doing this. Anyone heard of this ? Used it ? Test results ?

Was his name Richard? If so we might could believe it. To answer your question, I have never heard of it.

I wouldn't believe this if I didn't actually see it being done. As thick as that stuff is, I'd be leery, even doing a test on it.

Where ever he got the containers must be limited. It was the old STP I haven't seen in 20+ years.

I've got all these chemicals in my garage but I sure not going to dump it in the fuel... Kerosene is already dry fuel with low lubricity and high cetane number and low BTU content... The top it with a mix of Xylene paint thinner which is a very flashy fuel extremely low BTU content... Then to make it more fun benzene is a cancer causing chenical. Even Bosch says the HFRR score of fue should be below 450 HFRR and today fuel is ~520 HFRR so adding a injector cleaner is not good... :banghead:

You mean STP oil treatment like Richard Petty used to promote. I thought they still made that and assumed that was what you were talking about. To borrow a phrase from you "I am confused now". I cant believe as thick as that stuff is i could have xeylene kerosene or moth balls in it.

You can't judge by how thick it is. It makes sense but it just doesn't live up to it's thick properties sometimes. It is 2 better than regular diesel. I don't know how much thicker you can get than motor oil. Kinda scary though since we rely on that to lube the engine. But whatever it does in the fuel makes it a crappy additive. Then we have biodiesel, best lube out there, yet it's also a solvent However, we have no data on the STP so who knows, other than it has stuff we don't want in it. Shoulda asked him how many VPs hes been through.

But in the STP website, it has nothing on this stuff and I really haven't seen it in years. When I googled it, all I could find about it was on ebay.

I was picking up some 2 cylce at wally world and they have it on their shelf. The container did not say anything about its contents though.

MSDS sheet are general open for the public and most all products with hazardous chemical will have a MSDS sheet for it. Google is a good friend to learn how to use.

It just caught me off guard, I just never read of anyone using this in their fuel tank. But he was comfortable in doing it.I've googled every way I could to find out if this is or can be used as a diesel additive and found nothing as of yet. Like I said, it just caught me off guard.

This is why I looked up the oil treatment. That stuff is thicker than snot. I think I used in some of the old beaters I drove.
