I installed a raptor on my 2001. I know lots of people say to add a suction filter. BUT! If there is already a filter sock on the pickup in the tank, WHY! another screen. Dodge didn't have an additional filter before the Carter.

When I put in my 1/2" draw straw in I cut those screens out cause they are not like a changeble filter. They do eventually varnish up and clog. So having an accessable fiter before the lift pump helps with changing and helps keep sediment out of the L/P. It helps to keep the factory filter cleaner longer.

Thanks for the quick come back. It is nice to know what is in the tank also for future troubleshooting.

With my old school Drawstraw I there is no screen at all but my AirDog 150 has a 100 micron prefilter before the pump. I would highly suggest you still put a filter before the pump to prevent rotor jamming from debris.
