First, this problem only happens after it sits over night. If it sits 10-12 hours during the day it starts right up. Second, I have no codes, cleaned the battery terminals and used dieelectric grease on the the fuel pump electrical wires. Third, checked the 40 amp fuel fuse at the PCM.Fourth, fuel pressure is 17 psi at idle and driving and 15 psi at WOT. This problem is on a 99 2500 4X4 auto with an Edge EZ and a Raptor 150 pump. I believe it is an electrical problem. Here is the problem: turn the key in the morning, pump energizes, start the truck up and it runs for approx. 10 sec., shuts off, turn the key off and then back on- you don't hear the pump energize, turn the key off and wait for approx. 30 sec and turn the key on and you hear the pump energize. Once this happens, I usually bump the starter a couple of times because of the engine dieing at the first start. It starts up and is fine the rest of the day. One time I had the hood up and heard a noise like a switch was opening up or making contact. Any one have any ideas? Thanks for your input!

Check the fuel heater seal on your fuel cannister. It may be slowly leaking air into the system just enough to loose prime when sitting for a long period.

Sounds like the prime is gone.On top of fuel tank the draw line can rust.I know it is mostly plastic but the connector to the hose is not.Next There is a check valve on the vp.It is next to the fuel line.Mine went bad it is 25.00 or so.Check everything on the lift pump. The last thing i can think of is o rings in the tubes and injectors.Other than that cam seneor comes to mind.Hope this helps. The sound may be the heater grid thats normal.

Make any progress on finding the problem? :working:

Yes it is fixed. Don't know exactly what corrected the problem. I undid the relays and fuse and cleaned them, double checked all of my fittings for the fuel system for tightness, checked the fuel hoses for any cracks, cleaned the battery cables, and cleaned the fuel electrical connections. Works like a champ! Maybe my truck had a case of forgetting how to act. LOL
