I recently bought a scan gauge II. since install I have noticed while idling the reading for the apps sensor will jump from 0% to 10%, + or - a little. It does this very intermittently and only for a split second. I notice no change in the engine rpm just the sensor reading. Anyone else see a similar reading on theirs?

Mine did the same thing and now my SG is in my buddies 2002 and his does it too. It must be something with the gauge because the high idle would not work if the apps was really not at 0% and my high idle worked fine.

The high idle is not enabled on my truck and never has been. It just blips up there for a split second and then back to 0%. very irregular.

Original APPS or TIMBO? I would imagine you are just hitting a worn out spot on the APPS and its shorting for a few tenths of a degree.

I had a reason to cut into my apps harness about 2.5 years ago. I wired it back together with weather tight butt splices. I thought that might be the reason since I also sometimes got idle speeds of 1200 rpm for no reason. It would even stop my E brake from working because it will not come on if you have your foot on the throttle. Last weekend I cut out all the butt splices and soldered all the wires splices and sealed them with dielectric grease and shrink wrap. It has not acted up since, but it has only been a few days. It definately did not cure the little bumps in apps percentage though.

I think I have the same blip in mine too. But I rarely look at the TPS signal because 90% of the time I'm using cruise control.

Funny that you posted this, because when I finally installed my scan gauge a few weeks ago, playing with different gauges I noticed the exact same thing! On mine I noticed it does it at pretty much any (steady) throttle position... For example if I hold it at 30% and watch the gauge it will intermittently blip from 30% to 40% and back to 30% and so on...I played around with the tach and some other things and and no changes in fueling so I figured it was just some kind of pulse from somewhere... Glad to see I'm not the only one who's noticed this!!
