Spring has sprung here in Minnesota, so in a few weeks I'll be able to haul my '94 to the shed to get working on it.  I posted WAY back when I first found this forum on my build plans.  I'll start here again to bring everyone back up to speed.

First off, is this the right part of the forum to post a "build" thread?  If not please direct me to the correct location.  thanks

I restored a '51 Pilothouse B3D truck that was my great grandfathers truck.  I seem to have a disease now, lots of old truck parts in my house, garage and at friend's sheds.  I decided a few years back I was going to take a modern powertrain and graft on a Pilothouse cab/front clip as a daily driver.  This truck will be a stretched 3 door cab flat bed stake side hauler style truck.  I've got all the old Pilothouse cabs and doors to cut apart and re-weld up to the stretched cab.  As well as all the doors I could need to make the 3rd door and fill the space behind the passenger side door.

The '94 has a fresh rebuilt tranny and about 150K on the engine.  I've been thinking that since it will all be available to work on, going thru the engine and rear end would be a good idea right now.  Before I start to tear things off, any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Plans include air ride, saddle fuel tanks, rear duals and a tip up front end like a semi for engine work.

thanks, I look forward to keeping this thread moving over the course of the spring/summer while things start under way.

Good thing you were in a truck and not a smart car.

Your project is looking good, can't wait to see the end result.

Ouch on that new truck. All are ok I hope.

The pointy looks better from that angle. That is alot of work in that area.

That Chevy held up good. Any accident you can walk away from is always a good thing. Sorry for the misfortune of having an accident but glad your not hurt.

As for the build I was wondering how your going to do the doors.

yah, I likely was a few hundreths of a second away from never posting here again...:wow:

Meanwhile, first latch installed in the door, today I'll get the pin mounted and pray nothing locks up!

Dont stop posting, please. This has been very interesting to watch and would hate to not see the end product. Keep up the good work.

I hope that I never said anything wrong @PilotHouse2500 to make you want to stop posting. I am very sorry if I did. My wife says that I am always guilty of saying the wrong things, have been beaten with strong words many times and deserved it.

No, I meant I was likely a few hundredths of a second from not being on this planet as a living being....if he had T-boned us at 60+ mph....I don't think I'd have made it.

I am really glad you made it thru that. And I hope you get treated right from the insurance.

What made them loose control? In the brief video they appear to going just fine then just swerved to the left.

Yep thats the one. I came home to only 3 cans of blinker fluid and one can I put in the freezer yesterday. But I do have a jug of high test in the cabinet. Crown Royal Black. I need some of that now.  Sorry for my confusion. Maybe to much high test fuel.

Another door I had laying around made the ultimate sacrifice yesterday (at one point I had 17 doors, got down to 6, will now be down to 2).  I like how it's looking, trying to keep the "look" of the styling of the era.
