Posted January 27, 201510 yr Which one is the best for a good mpg and not to much for destroying my auto transmission
January 27, 201510 yr I think running a comp on level 2 would be the same as an ez. If you plan on building the truck up more later, I would go with a comp.
January 27, 201510 yr EZ if you can't control yourself and don't like the cost of the comp. Comp if you plan to make more power later.
January 27, 201510 yr Owner Edge Comp and Edge Juice are the same for software and power except Juice has more toyz. Edge EZ and Edge Comp are the same if you leave the wire tap off except Edge Comp is in cab adjustable.
January 27, 201510 yr Either one will destroy a stock transmission. I could slip my converter with EZ and 60 hp injectors, but in normal driving it was fine. Your HY35 turbo wouldn't like the comp, unless you plan on upgrading down the road. In reality, if you play nice an EZ could be good. Keep some extra cash for when the tranny goes, it's pretty much inevitable on a stock 47re.
January 27, 201510 yr Author Okey so the edge ez is chipper but have the same torque? For now i want to have a litle more power and when a destroye my tranny gone a have more power
January 28, 201510 yr Owner Personally I would suggest going Edge Comp or Edge Juice then for now just leave it un-tapped. Then when you do upgrade transmissions then all you got to do is tap the pump. Problem solved.
January 28, 201510 yr So the edge boxes are a trans blower for sure? I don't beat up on my truck, and would like an extra 25-50 hp just to move my 5th wheel a bit easier (10K Max load). My biggest concern is not the highway, but the way it pulls in the 2-3 shift area on back roads. Maybe I should go to a full manual valve body, but, I was going to add a shift kit, adjust the bands and change fluid. I'm only at 115K miles, do you guys think it will still burn it up? January 29, 201510 yr Owner If the transmission is already built up and weakness taken care of then you can tap and turn up the box. But stock transmission I wouldn't do more than a untapped box of any flavor.
January 29, 201510 yr Staff I have an Edge EZ and had to have my trans rebuilt at 64k. The front band wore out. I had been doing a lot of backing up with it and I think that's what took the trans out more than running the Edge. Had the trans rebuilt by a local and didn't put in any billeted parts, it's been O'K. The EZ made a big difference in towing the 5er but the comp is the way to go for the option to add more power later on.
January 29, 201510 yr I'd like to find an edge ez or comp used as they are pretty pricey. I don't have a full gauge set so a new juice cs may be the best option.
