Well I've made it home for the summer and it's time to start tearing this thing apart. I will begin tomorrow, but yesterday I took it to the dyno. Laid down 503 / 1215. I was very pleased with the numbers, but the knocking is getting worse to it's time to take it apart.

  • IT RUNS!!!!! Video coming later. Barely any smoke, surprisingly.   This thing runs soooooo smooth. I only ran it for five minutes (Per Hamilton instructions.) But it's nice to know it's running and

So this happened today. A deal I couldn't let slip!

Nice! I got a great deal on one just like that only for a 12v a while back.

Thought about ordering everything for the twins today and putting it together this weekend, but I've got a lot of work to do....

-intercooler

-grill

-bumper

-headlights

-rhino lining

-Clutch

I don't think I can get it all knocked out in one weekend.

Plus I'd like to see what the true differences are with this intercooler

Input shaft upgrade, flywheel bolts, pressure plate bolts, throwout bearing, and rhino lining showed up today  :stirthepot:

Finally got a picture of the intercooler

Is your "body guy" expensive?  Does he take outside work?

  • Author

He's not cheap.... but no. He has stopped all outside work. You can take it to the dealership he works at though

Lots to update here. The manifold showed up with a nice bent stud... thanks UPS. The turbo is on it's way (75/83/1.1) Might have some issues coming up with that but we'll see.

I also got a bunch done today! Started around 9 and ended around 4. Here's some pictures!

So almost everyone has seen a dual disc.... I took a few pictures of changing the input shaft. It's actually pretty dang quick and easy. Especially if you heat the bearing and freeze the shaft. No press work needed!

Next the intercooler... Very well packaged!

These next two you can see where the casting bows out to allow for more air flow, unlike the stock one.

Here you can see the thickness. The mishimoto is also WAY heavier than the stock one. I'd say close to 1.5 times as heavy.
IMG_20151017_145313_905_zpsgw2qc7fc.jpg

Here you can see the core spacing. There are more tubes in the mishimoto than the stock one.

Installed. It's a pretty tight fit! I had to "persuade" the inner fenders to get out of the way. Nothing significant though.

Here's the steering. The upgrade is HUGE compared to stock. It seems very high quality but we'll see. Looks like I need to wash the truck too... the new steering makes everything look bad!

It's the 2009+ upgrade for 3rd gen trucks, which also works on 2001 & 2002 trucks. It changes the Y style steering to a T style steering. The front two wheels are locked together, so when the suspension cycles it doesn't change the toe in - toe out of the tires.

I'll try to get a good picture today in the daylight.
I set the gate on the secondary to open around 20-25psi and its very obvious when it opens with the smarty only. I don't have an intermediate gauge yet, so I don't have the ability to tune them at all. I can say I'm getting around 10psi at 1400rpm and 15+psi before 1500 rpm. From there it just takes off. After taking it easy on the turbo for an hour or so I opened it up a bit and it made 55psi of boost on these baby injectors :lmao: I'm going to order a 100 psi gauge and move the one I have now down to the steering column for intermediate boost. Overall I'm impressed. I can't wait to see how she does with bigger injectors and better tuning :stirthepot:

You really should just sell the truck now.

It is all downhill from here... hahaha!

In all honesty though, it really looks nice.  It seems a shame to put the hood on it.

Also, what is that air cleaner?  Is that an oiled element I see?

You looking to buy??

Thanks I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

As for the air cleaner.... Yes it's an oiled S&B. It'll be getting a dry AFE on it asap. I'd like to get an ourterwear for it as well, and I think DAP sells some.

so everything fits right in without any mods? If so that is great news in near future I'll be doing this. I'm guessing everything is much bigger but still fits in all holes? Thanks.
