Diesel Noise
Know a guy that pours straight 2 cycle oil into the fuel filter at each filter change and says it runs pretty good on straight 2 cycle oil. Not sure that offers the same benefits of adding 1:128 at each fill up, but he's a log truck driver and runs 10k miles between oil changes and does the fuel filter at the same time.

Easy way to set valves
Now that turns this from an easy to a PITA project. Never heard of having to remove that before. Necessary?

Easy way to set valves
Just saw the warning to remove the timing pin before rotating the engine to adjust the valves. Where is the timing pin?

Quiet free flowing exhaust
So, I can put the resonator on my stock 3" exhaust?

Quiet free flowing exhaust
I know the cheap thing would be to straight pipe the stock exhaust. But I have a couple issues with noise. First is that I use my truck as a service vehicle in an upscale neighborhood and the other is hunting. Mike said in some post that you could hear his truck coming for a mile. Not good for hunting. Like typical, I want my desired outcome for the least amount of money. I wish to have better flow of air through the engine and have it quiet. Is there a way to go from my stock muffler to straight pipe by pulling a lever? I'd be willing to do it from outside the vehicle.

Injector cleaning question
What kind of interval do you suggest cleaning injectors? Would I see any performance improvement at 162,000 miles?

What makes the newer diesels quieter?

Diesel Noise
Valve adjustment is high on my list of projects. Figured I'd do the breather mod at the same time.

Diesel Noise
Where does the diesel noise come from? I was thinking lifters, but when coasting there is no noise. I started adding 2 cycle oil and no reduction noted. Could it be the injectors? Pretty noisy clicking when going uphill at low speeds especially in the morning before operating temps reached. 161,800 and don't know if the valves have ever been adjusted? Only owned it for 20k miles.

Wolves in Idaho?
Figure this one out. In the city of portland, open carry is only allowed by those with a concealed carry license. :banghead:

Easy way to set valves
I remember when I was young working at a dealership. The mechanics would rotate and watch for two rockers next to each other that would be full down position. Then there would be tow next to each other that would be full up. I'd adjust mine the same way. These were 4 and 6 cylinder with solid lifters.

Wolves in Idaho?
My buddy has a Dillon progressive reloader. He can load 300 10mm per hour. Bullets are the most expensive part of the deal. Only 11.5 grains of powder. These are hot loads and the magazine holds 16 plus one in th tube. Lots of firepower.

100 watt bumper mounted driving lights
Well, I got 2 55 watt Hella driving lights. They are only 2.84" deep, but insufficient room behind the grill for 4 lights due to the number of cooling units. I could get 2 back there. But then there is the OEM grill that has a horizontal faux bar running right through the middle, which would impede light from behind. So I'm going to mount 2 driving lights and 2 fog lights on the bumper. Ive spent quite a bit of time reading about relays. I understand them now and also understand the concepts behind Michael's driving/fog wiring design. I've also verified that the connection points in the power distribution box supplies power as described. Should work great! Thanks!

OEM bumper mount fog lights?
Ok then. OEM not adequate. Since I'm having to make a light bar for behind my grill I'll mount 5" fog lights there. Not going to use rebar though.

OEM bumper mount fog lights?
My truck didn't come with fog lights. Want to install in the bumper in the OEM location. I see that on eBay that there are lights with mounts. I've got the wiring figured out thanks to Michael's diagram for driving lights (separate thread). Can I just bolt these suckers on the existing bumper without the inserts?been readin around the site. Some are saying the factory fog lights are worthless. Ive got them on my 2006 mega cab and I like em. Are the 3rd gen lights better?

Here in Oregon I carry a 10mm glock or 10mm 1911 fusion. Also have a snub nosed 44 magnum. Ruger Alaskan.

engine over cooling
Is it possible that the temp gauge is incorrect?

Wolves in Idaho?
Michael, you spend a lot of time in the woods. Have you ever seen a wolf? On my bucket list to kill one. We don't have a season in Oregon yet.

100 watt bumper mounted driving lights
Seems a lot easier than converting to sport lights and you've got a lot of flexibility compared to the sport lights. Thanks Michael! It's all clear to me now. Just looking for decent lights now. Nice to be able to add fog and driving lights with adding only one switch. Only about 14.5 amps for 200 watts of driving lights.

100 watt bumper mounted driving lights
So, are you showing the connection points on the fuse box and adding relays somewhere else? With the kind of connector you used at the hi/low connection, there is no relay in the position, but you're using a connector at the trailer relay that allows the relay to be maintained there?

100 watt bumper mounted driving lights
Initial impressions;Expensive! $400 for a pair of driving lights. Then I need fog lights. They list mounts for 3rd and 4th gen dodge trucks, but not second. Major investment. Probably 3 times my ability to rationalize.

100 watt bumper mounted driving lights
I'm thinking of using Michaels wiring method. But use fog lights in the bumper as came factory in some of the trucks (not mine). I like the idea of having the driving lights hidden and more protected behind the grill. So Michael, with your setup, the fog and driving lights come on independently? Driving lights come on with high beams and fog lights on low beam? Dash switch activates, otherwise you get just original headlights? Did you just make the video? I didn't see it on youtubes list if your videos. Not sure I can find LED's in fog lamps with the OEM style mounts. I'm a fan of LED technology in general, but I can't wrap my head around how many lumens it would take to equal 100 watt driving lights.

100 watt bumper mounted driving lights
You guys see anything wrong with running the trip wire for the relay from a tap connector on the bright lights wire hot wire? I've got all the parts, but have not wired it up yet.

4x4 not engaging
I'd put the money toward a cable actuator kit instead. You eliminate all the vacuum and use a push/pull cable. You can also select 4 low with your transfer case and not pull the cable and have low range 2 wheel drive.
