Shell V Power Diesel fuel
And thats why I asked , I just knew it smelled like a scam. The V power fuel is 2 cents more a litre as well. Really glad I stayed with the regular stuff. Thanks Chris

Shell V Power Diesel fuel
I guess I will keep using the regular fuel. I have a feeling that the "additives" they put in are just chemicals that they can't get rid of any other cheap way. They have been known to do that with gasoline. Chris

Shell V Power Diesel fuel
Not sure if this in in the right catagory. I stopped for fuel this morning and noticed this new fuel was available along with the regular diesel. I am not a fan of additives I don't know about. I googled it and there is a lot of info but its over my head. Anyone know what this is about and should I consider using it or just stay with the regular fuel. Of course water and dirt are always a concern for anyone with a diesel. Regards Chris

DRB 3 abilities
I should mention that my buddy showed up today and I sent the little package with him. He feels pretty good about getting the updates for it. Also said it was not used much because the numbers and letters are still new looking. I should have taken a pic of it. Oh well once he gets it tuned up we will both use it. Chris

DRB 3 abilities
It cost me 170 and change to have the high idle and 3cyl enabled on my truck. And I was happy to pay it. So I think I did okay on this deal. Michael if you were closer I would just put it in your toolbox and say thanks for letting me in the forum. I talked with my friend this morning and he is pretty happy I got it. He thinks he can get the updates and extra cards for it. Will work out good for both of us. Anyone within driving distance of me is welcome to use it. Just bring me a coffee and we are good. Regards Chris

DRB 3 abilities
Its the real deal. I remember using them when I apprenticed at the local Dodge dealer. I can get this 1 for cheap like I said. But seems like it wont do much more than my no name code reader. If it works is there any chance that it would screw up my trucks computer. I also thought they used it to set the high idle and 3 cyl idle. I already have this enabled in mine but could maybe help others with it. Thanks for now. Chris

DRB 3 abilities
Hi folks... A mechanic not far from me has his own Chrysler DRB3 scanner that works according to him. Its for sale very cheap. Is this of any use to me with it being hooked into Chyslers own computer. Might not be a bad thing to have once in a while. Regards Chris

Torque management
I was having a yarn with a Dodge mechanic a while age and mentioned how my truck seems to really work nice once you get rolling and the auto is in overdrive and the converter locks up. He said it was built that way on purpose and thet Dodge calls it torque management. Supposedly helps the trans live a little longer. Is this correct, I tried a search but found lots of other stuff. Not so much on this. I may have even asked about it before, thought I already bugged you about it. How does it do this, i would assume it regulates the timing and fuel somewhere along the line. Thanks. Chris

How much f. pressure is too much?
Lets just say you had a pump that had a sticky / scored piston. Access to a good machine shop and some time not on the clock. Could you repair this without having to reprogram or calibrate it. If I don't ask I wont ever know. Regards Chris

How much f. pressure is too much?
Is it possible for an average person to buy parts for the VP44. It seems that you can take 1 apart...I looked very close at the one Mike dissassembled for us. I would try to re do mine if it failed without causing catastrophic damage. Just wondering if a little bag of parts might be good to have on hand. A friend of mine swears he made up 1 good one for his truck from a couple or 3 cores. Regards Chris

sealing battery connectors
Could you solder the joint and then fill the housing with a good ahedsive sealant like 3m 5200 I have seen the connectors but never used one or had it apart. Chris

How much f. pressure is too much?
I have the DDRp pump on my 99. After a few emails back and forth with the folks that sold it to me...I did a little spring modification. 20 psi at idle and 12 to 14 when leaning on the pedal a bit. I installed a fuel pressure guage from my Cat on the top of the fuel filter and it always agreed with the Edge display. A month or so ago I noticed that my fuel pressure was dropping a bit and would go to 10 if I pushed it a bit. I thought it was time for a spring switch...maybe they loose a bit over time. I am a small engine mechanic so springs this size are no problem. I installed a new spring and fuel pressure returned to the original good numbers. Fast foreward to last week and I changed out the fuel filter...yikes it was yellow and slimy looking. Fuel pressure is now 26-28 at idle and does not go below 20-22 when I push the go pedal. Lesson learned...always check the simple stuff before assuming that things have gone bad. Now to switch back to the original spring. Ps the filter had about 5 K on it. Regards Chris

High Idle Kit Is Here
That looks like a good place to put it. If I had thought about it I would have put mine there instead of the cubby hole. Hmmm..might have to move mine when the weather warms a bit. Chris

About that high idle kit
I thought it was the other way around too. Thinking of things like in a gas engine just dosen't work in a 24v. Rwegards Chris

Disassembled A Bosch Vp44 Injection Pump
Reading the Jasper page..they don't replace the electronics. Just reflash it. I thought Bosch wanted all new electrics on the rebuilt pumps. Chris

Engine Oil What Weight ?
I just watched the little movie. His truck is identical to mine. Mine is not that clean though. I plan on doing that mod this weekend Chris

Engine Oil What Weight ?
I had no Idea the vent mod was that good. Thanks ever so much....doing my happy dance now, woo hoo. Thanks Chris

Injector question
About your new injectors...are they the new Bosch ones or an aftermarket brand. Just curious about this. Chris

Engine Oil What Weight ?
The 15w 40 is fine here temperature wise...but the smell when you come to a stop sign or red light is just nasty. I switched from rotella to a hd irving brand 15w40 (its local) same smell. I added a couple feet to the puke hose. But I think I might have to go a bit further. Regards Chris

Injector question
I am wanting the RV injectors as well. Second guessing about some with 20 of perhaps 30 horses over that. A buddy of mine works in Idaho as a welder and I asked him to pick me up a set of them. He just might find a set local to his job and bring them home. If not I will order up a set from the good folks at DAP...I think. Would like your opinion of the install of your new injectors and how they work for you. As for torque wrench...my best buddy is a Snapon tool truck driver. Should be able to borrow a small one, already have the 1/2 drive 300FT lb one. Regards Chris

About that high idle kit
Is it just me or does it make the truck a bit more peppy on the low end. I had to go to a service seminar 4 hours away from home. At 1 intersetion in particular you have to make a sharp turn to the left. I attempted this manuver...at a slow speed ,darn near did a 360 right there. Granted the roads were wet and I have studded winter tires but it was quite warm. WOW it works nice. I drove Like Michael told me for the most part on cruise at the speed limit. I had the Edge set on 5x3. Hand calculated is 20.76 mpg. I am pretty happy with it. A set of RV 275 or so injectors and it should be sweet. I wonder what these trucks would be like with an unlimited computer controling things. That might be your next job Michael and Ed. Regards Chris
