  1. Interesting so yours all it does is unlock and lock the doors ? I will look at my build sheet to see what it says. Edit: Just looked and its listed as two different options not even one after another on my buildsheet. remote keyless entry security Alarm.
  2. Aslong as the truck has a factory key FOB it automatically has the "security system" right ? Which basically means truck wont start if been locked with key FOB and unlocked with key correct ? My 99 01.5 and current 02 all had a factory key FOB.I thought they were to just unlock and lock the doors when i had my 1st truck. Noticed there is a red light under the rearview on my 02. I assume flashes once armed ? My 99 if you locked it with the FOB and unlocked the door with the key horn would go off. The 01.5 didnt do this or the 04.5 i had. Haven't tried with the current 02.
  3. Another reason i shopped for a good used reman So pump. As everywhere i looked required you turn in same pump as your buying and i wanted an SO. All i had was my Ho core.
  4. My 02 HO truck runs perfectly fine with the SO pump i had put on. With edge JWA power setting on stock you wouldn't know it wasn't a HO pump on there unless i told you.
  5. Thing is on a cold start without a high idle it won't warm up idling. Cold cyl tempsand no load the fuel doesn't entirely get burnt and will run down into the oilpan. That is the main concern of cold idling. at 30-40F degrees fire it up let it run for 30-60 seconds make sure oil has gotten everywhere then go easy on it driving untill the temp needle gets up to the 1st mark.
  6. To be fair my 04.5 was a 3500 4x4 srw 4 door. Prob a fair bit heavier than my 02 QCSB truck.
  7. Yup i have a new mechanical gauge and pod for column from a previous truck. Noway im paying $200 for a replacement edge sensor.
  8. Yup will get the line kit in the next month or so. Burned 1st tank of fuel threw the truck and ive noticed since under half tank the pressure reading on the edge has gone up. like often im seeing 15-17 psi cruising 18-20 idle. On a hill this am 12 psi boost in 6th was still 14-15psi. Above 1/2 tank was like 13-14 cruise and 11-12 over 10psi boost and 17-18 idle. So like a 2 psi increase across board and more stable. odd. temps been around -10C all week.
  9. It will still pull more than a commonrail. Night and day difference from stock setting to level 5x5 even without the pump wire tapped. Im geared 3.54 and my 04.5 6 speed was 3.73. The 24v has more get up and go in the 1000-2000 rpm range. Over 2000 rpm not as much difference vs the stock commonrail. but still pulls a bit more. I'm debating if i'm even going to put the wire tap on. The clutch probably be happier with the wire not tapped. And empty more than enough power.
  10. Thanks for all the info guys. Tried it yesterday and it flashes a few times and thats it. Wear marks on the outer part of the seat too. no rips yet. Will get that fixed and the heated seat at same time.
  11. Going to be changing fluids and such on my new to me 2002. With only an edge juice is there any need for anything more than a regular parts store replacement paper filter for the air box ? I know most bang for buck would be BHAF. I like the stock look and would prefer to keep the stock box(don't see any cracks in it) If the regular fram filter isn't adequate for the Edge juice i was thinking about the slightly more expensive route of an AFE dry factory replacement for the stock airbox. Thanks
  12. Just had my Vp changed. THe edge juice was wire tapped on the old pump. I decided to wait a bit before tapping the pump. You'd be surprised how much power 5x5 nets without the pump wire tapped. Im going to eventually get a stealth cover after seeing the corrosion on the previous owners tap/hack job. I thought DAP and Vulcan had 2 yr warranties on the cheaper ~$1050 pumps but can't wire tap.
  13. i been following your ABS saga here and on CF. Curious did you find something in the hub. My old 01.5 I sold had pretty much same issue as yours. I was into her for $1000 before i gave up and unplugged the ABS plug.
  14. This is my 1st 2nd gen with heated seats. The drivers seat doesnt work. I notice the drivers switch in the dash doesnt light up like the working one on passengers side. If i recall when you try to push it it flashs but dont quote me only tried that once lol. Is it simply the switch fubar ? Or could the switch be ok but something deeper ? I don't have access to a switch to try so id be buying a switch. Thought I'd ask before pulling the trigger on a switch. Thanks
  15. That is what i was thinking better to do it with the line kit. Thanks
  16. When its down to 32F i dont even wait for the grids i put key in and fire it up. Instafire with no noticeable smoke or chugging. All 3 24v's i have had have behaved the same on cold starts. If your getting smoke and a hiccup on a 50F cold start after waiting for the grids i'd look to the fuel system for air leaks.
  17. So the edge fuel pressure sensor is mounted right at the vp inlet. I see no snubber. This is the way it was when i bought the truck. Can i just add a snubber or needle valve in front of the sensor ? Ideally the sensor should be mounted further back in the feed line correct ? On a side note. I plan to run the big line kit to the Vp when i move the DDRP pump to the frame rail with 1/2 inch lines once winters over. Should I just wait and put a T and needle valve in the 1/2 inch feed line ?
  18. Ive ran this in my previous 01.5 with the nv5600 Its rated for the NV transmissions. https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/transmission-fluid/manual/manual-synchromesh-transmission-fluid-5w-30/
  19. Oh ya i told him you better have ordered a gauge or im coming out there lol. He bought the truck literally a day before heading off to the camp, so didnt have time to get one on. Hes having a mechanical one installed along with the VP and getting a fass setup put on once he is done work in the next month. Trucks bone stock and he drives it like a granny, so the stock pump should be ok for a month.
  20. About $1.45 cdn or so for $1 usd. Told him about Vulcan and DAP but he had to have the pump today to be back in the bush tomorrow. Location and time were not in his favour.
  21. He said he knew he was in for a reaming when the service manager said they are pretty busy sold 70 new engines rock crawler trucks lol. Don't even want to guess what they are worth if they sell a vp for $4300. Unfortunately my buddy and I are on the other side of the border in Canada.
  22. Hey all i have to share this im still in shock. My buddy works in the bush 4 hours north of fort MacMurray in Alberta Canada. His 02 ram started smoking like a train and skipping on cold start up. Drove it 4 hours of ice roads and back country to make it to a diesel shop in fort MacMurray. He had P0216 code and a companion code. Figured the stock lift pump was dead and killed/killing the original vp truck has 220,000km. He asked them to change filter and check fuel pressure. Sure enough 3psi idle. They said first they will put on a new lift pump and see what happens. Gave him a quote of $4600 plus labor to change the 2 pumps. $300 for the lift pump and $4300 for the vp. Shop rate is $230 an hour. Sucks to be in isolation YIKESSSSSSSSS. Lift pump took its toll on the VP still chugging and smoking, so he ordered a VP from a diesel shop in Alberta $1700. Seems to be going price for a rebuilt vp up here Another example of what a crappy stock pump with no fuel pressure gauge can do to a vp.
  23. I had a 99 4x4 24v with 218k on it when i sold it. Previous owner changed the fluid and filter every 30k miles. Most of its life had a slide in camper. It ran very well when i sold it. it was geared 4.10 with stock tires which Im sure eased the strain on the trans. I had a stock 12v with an auto and 3.55s and it was a slush box. Trying to take off with load behind wasn't easy I pittied the trans.
  24. $4k installed at your home for a remanned engine wow sounds too good to be true. I wonder what install consists of though just setting in place and bolting up mounts ? Surely they don't install all the bolt ons?
