  1. Well it was a first for me. I've been changing oil with my dad and myself for the better part of 35 years, can't say i've ever seen this before. but if it not much to worry about then so be it. i don't pre-fill the filters either.
  2. i wanted to pull the trigger but the site states the combo is not available... suck.... i could buy just the ultra, but not the combo with the dongle.....
  3. this was supertech synthetic, yes it's still part dino, but still. they should have better filtration than that.
  4. So my son did an oil change on his 22RE this weekend, and my wife's car need one as well. Well after we were all done i was going to combine the left over oil in the bottles for some oil for the snow blower or the generators. well sure glad i looked in to containers, now i need the people here to tell me what my next move should be. Now mind you my wifes car has well over 130K miles on supertech oil. but it is concerning..
  5. new clutch on it's way. G56-OK-HD it'll be fine.
  6. i'm having a hard time deciding between the Valair dual disk quiet, and the SB John suggested. does the old age get what you pay for apply here? i can get the dual disk for about 200$ more than the single. and i know i'll never need that kind of holding, but what if... i'd really really hate to get the SB and slip it, my truck is "350" hp, so i could in theory run 75 hp tune. I hate being OCD and having to make these decisions
  7. i really hate being so OCD, Why is it i can buy the clutch cheaper form a performance shop then i can from SB own web site? WTF over?
  8. then explain how i have zero loose components, the only thing changed was the steering damper, and i got DW, i went back to the stock leaking one, and it's gone.... I'm competent enough to be turning wrenches also. is it hard to adjust the 9000's inside the front coils?
  9. so in talking to the trans guy that built my auto for the 04 he recommended the G56-OFEK. is the engagement that much harsher? like backing up a trailer? or the slow role have to slip a clutch?
  10. i'm not sure what ones to order, all the parts listings i see, years are 03-07, 08-12... so i'm guessing i need https://www.genosgarage.com/product/trackbar-bushings-rp22442/trackbar-rebuild I've tested mine best i could with it still in the truck and see no play in the joints. I think i'll leave it be for now, and when my other parts come in i'll take it all apart and see what if anything needs replaced. could always get OEM from mopar in a pinch. The 08 is a street queen, so i have no need to worry about off-road abuse. All the control arms are in good shape, took bottle jack close to the yoke and got very little movement in them, they are rubber some some play is to be expected. but it was not easy to see. so i suspect the joints are in good working order. I think i'll try and tackle the alignment my self. might fallow this way. or maybe this on at the 10 minute mark.
  11. do you think i should gt an adjustable track bar? or just replace the bushings? yes= what one?
  12. in the description it states... so i'm hoping it's the correct one. next on the bank account draining spree is a new clutch, then pending how that goes it'll be an raceme ultra. 13. yeah well i just ordered the net steering parts, so. 14. Well that was a spooky 5 minute ride, i installed the "new" "heavy duty" rancho steering damper. get up to 70, bump in road and death wobble!!!! scared me something fierce. So, the new parts are on order, along with a mopar damper. this is my first experience with the dreaded death wobble.
  15. my experience with them is they didn't have the range of adjustment as the stock mopar ones did. the 1AAuto ones would not tilt in via the power actuator as much as the mopar's, wasn't that big of a deal, just something i noticed. I've sense replaced it with a Mopar unit.
  16. i can get the OEM for around 280 something. i'll order them tonight. https://www.amazon.com/Mopar-Steering/dp/B00N4YPPAO/ref=pd_sbs_263_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00N4YPPAO&pd_rd_r=K8VJ0X4RB0WVBRK8RM01&pd_rd_w=hC78C&pd_rd_wg=Fy8ib&psc=1&refRID=K8VJ0X4RB0WVBRK8RM01 still can figure out if i need the new pitman arm or not.
  17. more research... My 08 has the older y style steering, i've found https://www.amazon.com/MOOG-DS800981...MOOG+DS800981A is that the only thing i need to upgrade to the newer style? i ask because i also see, https://www.amazon.com/2003-2012-Ste...WG568A8CCJB3Q6 and it includes a new pitman arm and steering damper, what parts do i need? will the first link be a direct swap, then go get alignment? how do i know if i need the new pitman arm? very frustrating for sure.
  18. when i got it it would bounce off the bump stops, that led me to discover the to short of shocks, so the correct length were installed, that helped, then the coils were replaced with heavier ones, that helped as well. but it still bounced off the bump stops. so I parked them side my side, and measured the distance from the bump stop to axle on each truck, there was 1 1/4" difference. my ranch hand has a receiver hitch in it that I built and installed. So I ordered some Thuren 2" softride coils, that state they lift the mega cabs 1 3/4 inches. so after install, the truck now sits about 1/2-3/4" higher than the 04, this was the best improvement in ride quality and stable feeling. When it's sketchy is were there is road bumps from like heavy loads that push the asphalt away, kinda like washboards but in pavement. forward to the 1:50 mark. this same section of road in the 04 is smooth, and in the 08 is spooky!!! hence my quest for a accelerometer app. I've check track bar bushing all steering components are tight. alignment is good. The issues are a vehicle handling issue, the feeling of control and stability. If you were here i'd gladly let you drive both truck on the same stretch of road and see what i'm trying to fix. The seats are another issue, but that's more a ride comfort than ride quality.
  19. steering box brace. there is a few makers out there, i have two, and they made a big difference for my trucks.

  21. Thanks for the response John, so after further looking into the trucks. the "recall" performed on my 08 was not the same as the one done to my 04, as the 08 had aftermarket parts so they didn't replace anything, honestly i never even looked, just took it in for the recall work, thinking that it was replaced. That said. the older y style that my 08 has changes toe with wheel articulation, my theory is when i upgrade it to the newer style like my 04 has, this will no longer be an issue. and i suspect that a slight amount of wobble is a contributing factor to my ride. so when i find the parts and change them out, I'll let you all know.
  22. have a question John, the bilstein, being a gas charged mono tube, does it make your truck pull in one direction? from what i understand when compressed they will extend on their own from the gas charge. some clarification please...
  23. it's very odd for sure, the 08 has just the Thuren coils, and with the ranch hand bumper it sits 1/2 higher then the 04 does stock. it's driving me crazy. my 04 is like a Cadillac. smooth, stable over rough road, potholes, everything. and in my brain the 08 being a 3rd gen, same wheel base should ride darn near the same. no other ride enhancements on the 08. just the thuren coils. and they are amazing over the stock ride quality. have not looked at body mounts yet. control arms are next on the list to replace. but there is no slop in them now, so i'm unsure changing them out would change much. i was under the understanding the 4600 and 5100 have the same valving, just one is zink and designed for lifted trucks. http://www.shockwarehouse.com/news/bilstein-5100-vs-bilstein-heavy-duty.cfm both trucks have the updated 08 steering free from Mopar as part of a recall. turns out the 09+ is the better one to get. so might upgrade to that. i'm having a hell of a time getting the old stud out for the steering damper change.
  24. Here is a pic of the coils, right is what was on truck when purchased, left is the used 04qclb coils I got, sorry I don't have any of the thurens.
