I picked up a Ranch 5000 steering damper, will see if it's any good. As for shocks, i'm still trying to get my 08 to ride like my 04. i started out learning that the PO had shocks that were to short, limiting my down travel. so i got some 4600's and install them, made big difference. but still wasn't close to the 04, so i got some take off front coils from an 04 QCLB, again another improvement, the ones on my truck were noticeably smaller diameter. still wasn't crazy about the ride. ordered some Thuren coils, it raised my truck 1.34 inches. ride was much improved. but still not like the 04's. the 04 is stock aside from bilsteine 4600's. so now i'm down to tires, or another shock. air pressure in the tires are the same 50 front 45 rear on both trucks. one being a mega cab over a QC shouldn't make this big of difference in the ride. so the quest continues. i'm thinking the Rancho's maybe the newer 5000x or if the wife allows the 9000xl's. after that will be control arms. the biggest improvement was the Thuren coils. they are nice for sure. if it's still not the ride i like i might sell the darn thing. aside from swapping the coils from the 04 onto the 08... but that's more work than i care to do. i suppose for science it could be done. then i'd know... takes about an hour per truck to swap coils. 04 has 285/70/17 cooper ATP's 08 had 285/70/17 BFG KO2's now has 275/70/18 goodyear's ride didn't change between them. maybe first thing i should do is swap tires... anyone have any recommendation for a good accelerometer app, where one could in theroy track the rough road and compare it between trucks.?

i think it's about time for a new one. mine is starting to leak. on my 08. I've read in a few places to get the stock Mopar one w/the bearing at one end. and i've read other places that just a good one from napa/autozone/etc will be just as good. is the rancho or bilstein or fox really worth the coin?

We just did a long trip up the Oregon coast, was much fun, that said the kimbers stayed under the center counsel. we didn't drive like idiots, and never drew attention to ourselves. had a great time, and was never to far from piece of mind protection. know your right and assert them. Most of all don't worry about the cops, just go sight seeing, enjoy it for what it is, a vacation.

i have a plasma cutter that i think I've used 4 times. rest of time it's a sawzall. it's faster and cleaner than firing the cutter up. just a few blades.

i love my 5th wheel, not sure i could ever go back to a bumper pull travel trailer. mine was sold as a 33', but measures 34.4 all told loaded with everthing we use to camp for a week, the UTV side by side, 120Gallon water and food, firewood, yada yada. i'm just under 13K. but had been over 14K once. it tows like a dream. winds don't bother it. lots of room for wife and 2 kids n a dog. and a 4 seater Can-Am Commander UTV. mpg's are nice too. usually around 10-12 pending how fast i go. Side note, when cutting metal, most of the time it's faster and easier to use a sawzall.

both are great trucks, both have flaws as with anything man made. HVAC doors break, front end ball joints, if 6.7 plugged DPF's and EGR's power windows and door lock sometimes stop from broken wires in the door jams.

i have a flow pro on my 08. it's quiet, no drone while towing either, but it will whistle when i use the EB on the VGT turbo. i can only hear the whistle when the windows are open. i got the 4" turbo back. 5x15" tip, couldn't tell you what model. but it took me longer to get the old exhaust out than to put the new one in. it's really easy with a can of dw-50. The one on my 04, no idea what muffler is. took it from my 02, it's quiet for 90% of the time, but it'll drone a little pulling 13K up a 7% grade for 17 miles. but it's not loud enough to bother anyone. radio on low makes it go away. it's a stock from turbo to muffler, then a 4" tip.
