Lift pump issue
I think the best way to confirm if its the grid heaters it to see how the alternator does this year, if they're still good by the time next winter comes, connect the grid heaters back on, then test the alternator regularly. If the ac numbers start to climb, it would be a fair confirmation that the grid heaters are the cause of our alternators failing.

Track Bar failures
Did dodge have different size track bars? Mines a 2001, is it different than a 99 or 2000??

Track Bar failures
Ok, I got a question, I was Gonna start a new thread, but I saw this about the track bars and thought what the heck. I replaced mine 2 years ago with a moog. The weird part, it was longer than the one I took off? And the steering wheel was way off, I had to adjust it. I went back to orielys and compared another one, it was same size as the moog. Went to Napa, different brand, same size as the moog. Tires don't wear uneven, but now I get water to kick up on passenger side window when it rains?

Intermittent idle surge-increase
Being a 2001, you maybe able to do the key trick to read the codes without a scanner.

Is it easy enough to do if one doesn't have electrical experience?( anything electric is a weakness for me, but if it is easy, I may be able to tackle it)

Intermittent starting problem 1998 dodge
What about contacts in the starter? Sounds like you do a lot of shutting off and turning on, so those could be worn bad and not making contact all the time. mine went out a year or two ago, would turn key and nothing. It actually one time got stuck and continued trying to turn the motor over even after the truck started and after I shut it off and pulled keys out. Had to pull cables off battery.

air filter
Do you think you could put the 6637 on a tube that's 4 3/8 inch diameter? I have an afe box that I can just use, but is it flexible enough to fit over it?

How much power is an HO pump capable of? I imagine I'll never see 500 hp, so if its easily capable of that, then no point in going with SO

VP swap
My dad has a 99 with the s.o. pump, his truck is bone stock. Compared to mine, which is the 2001 with the h.o. pump, his seems much quieter and smoother sounding too, but maybe it's just coincidence. That's why I was curious if one pump is built better than the other besides higher hp gains. I know my pump is approaching the end of its days , so when it comes, I'm just wanting to make the better decision, if there is one ( not going with a hotrod)

High amp alternator
So is the fix then buying a new, higher power alternator, like the one you showed a few pages back, to keep up with the demand of our trucks? And does that require having to do a lot of electrical work to the truck in order to use a higher amp alternator. I'm electronically dull, so this may be a issue for me to do on my own.( in other words, can you just put the new alternator in and go?) And like Mike has said, is the issue showing up now because the grid heaters are demanding more than they used to, or are the new parts and rebuilds just poor quality parts, and the real solution is just installing what should've been an originally higher amperage alternator?

Why would you you trade out a truck with a H.O. pump for a S.O.? I know h.o. has higher pressure and s.o. has a bigger internal piston size( or more area I guess) but what makes one better than the other? I also know you can make more power with a s.o., but is it just better built all the way around?

Clutch and brake Pedal pads
Thank you guys for the help. I always forget about Lmc and end up wasting lots of time searching on Google and get no where.

Clutch and brake Pedal pads
Thank you. I will check it out

Clutch and brake Pedal pads
Are the clutch and brake pedal pads the same?

Clutch and brake Pedal pads
Does anyone have any place to look for replacement pads for both the clutch and the brake pedal for our trucks? Preferably the stock ones

Fuel Line Upgrade Question 2001 Cummins
A shop here in CDA I believe makes a separate unit for the filter and water separator, it's like what the fass looks like but without the pump, so that could be a option also, I'd have to double check just to be sure((( I could be totally wrong to, wouldn't surprise me))))

Fuel Line Upgrade Question 2001 Cummins
I'm seriously leaning to getting the mechanical. I can just get a replacement raptor under warranty ( since it will rarely be used) and then just do the mechanical pump.

Lost ECM output to lift pump
What type of lift pump is it? My raptor 100 did that in town, only noticed when my truck started running really rough, looked down at fuel pressure gauge, 0, but Everytime I shut truck off and turned back on, it ran for a few seconds at normal pressure then dropped back to zero. Literally got it home by turning the truck off and on, not recommended but what do you do. The stupid pump went bad and when they put the new one in, problem solved. They said it damaged the ecm by doing what I was doing to get it home and they installed a relay of some sort that ran the pump once the key was in on position, but I plugged it back into the ecm and no problems.(((well until now, pump is acting up again.)

Fuel Line Upgrade Question 2001 Cummins
Nice. That's 1/2 fuel line right? Does it come with half inch line to the tank or just to the stock filter?

Fuel Line Upgrade Question 2001 Cummins
The mechanical pump looks like a good idea. But either case I need to replace the lift pump. They use the lift pump on start up right CTcummins24valve and Hawkez? Come to think of it, I have a warranty on the raptor, if I buy the mechanical set up the raptor would be used for only a few seconds for start up. Still is guna be at keast 600 dollars whatever way I go. Do the belt driven ones have a return line also?

Fuel Line Upgrade Question 2001 Cummins
I know its been a while, but I am going to pull the trigger on the fuel upgrade system. (Finally) The good ol raptor with its wonderful reliability and stable fuel pressure is giving me problems, go figure. fuel pressure is slipping since it was put on a year ago, so I bumped up to 18-19 and crusing speed is around 14 to 15, but as I was driving off the job site yesterday, I looked down at the fp gauge and it was pegged out at 25psi!!!! so I shut the truck off and restarted it and back to normal? DO NOT BUY A RAPTOR IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A LIFT PUMP! These things suck! ( and not fuel wise either) anyway, so instead of using the warranty for another replacement of garbage, I'm am leaning toward the FASS that has been previously mentioned. but here is the questions....... ---What type of FASS should I get?( Titanium?) Heard airdog stuff isn't what it used to be ---How about GPH? 100 or 150? I'm running 400 hp but maybe someday 450 to 500....MAYBE( tbh, I'm leaning toward the mpg gains so might be looking into the quad that you guys have been using for a while. My edge EZ is giving me problems) ---The FASS comes with filters right? so should I bypass the stock filter on the side of the block or should I run it through and have dual filtration? ---Are the filters a special order you can only get online or at any autoparts store? --- ill frame mount the pump, out of the way of debris damage path, is there a kit I need to get in order to mount it? ---I'm upgrading the fuel line to 1/2" including a drawstraw from Vulcan( one without return fitting), I was leaning toward the return line on the FASS to go to the filler neck, what do I need to get and cut and clamp, etc. in order to do this? ----Should the return line from the vp44 be upgraded to 1/2" line too? I'm sure there are questions I'm forgetting, but for now, here they are. Thanks.
