Is your 4" Diamond Eye Stainless a straight thru system with no muffler or does it have a muffler/resonator?

I would like to learn more about the Magnaflow systems. From what I can tell looking online Magnaflow is Walker Exhaust high performance line! And may be well engineered like the OEM systems are on many US cars and trucks. Thanks for the experience details.

Wall thickness, diameter, length, resonators, mufflers, hangers, and overall mass all will effect the exhaust system. I'm going to be needing a new exhaust system at some point and am going to start looking into details of the various manufacturers that make a system for 98.5 to 02 to determine which one might be best for my needs. I'm looking into going with a 4" aftermarket or NEW Walker OEM system. Anyone have experience with the Magnaflow systems? ....................with the Banks systems? ........MBRP? AFE? etc. I think the wall thickness has a huge effect on this drone at various engine RPM. Take a look at the picture Katoom posted earlier in this thread and the difference between the two. Very interesting. Would like ot learn about wall thickness of various aftermarket before making a decision and can always go with Walker OEM to get good quality pipe material.

UNDERSTANDABLE! And it is fun too. Have fun, but not too much fun so the local Police and or Sheriff departments don't profit from it along the way.

Katoom, thank you for the pictures and details.

hmmm....makes sense. Did you find the 4" exhaust note to be deeper along with the raspy higher tones? And with a resonator the 4" might be the best way to go for overall performance gains and sound quality.

Thank you for the details and let us know how the turbo blanket works out for you.

When you deleted the muffler, but left the resonator was the sound "raspy" too or just louder? I'm thinking the resonator might reduce the higher frequency sounds that tend to be raspy. It is difficult to communicate all the intangibles of sound and noise levels etc, but raspy is a good way to describe some of the exhaust sounds! I'm still running the stock original exhaust and may have to make some changes soon due to oxidation starting where in the mid-pipe goes into the muffler.....now that is lazy not making any changes for 19 years! Have heard good things about the quality of sound from the FTE mufflers and resonators but have no personal experience, so anything you can share is appreciated and helpful. Thank you.....

Do you happen to know the manufacturer of the resonator and the length?

I would care to see a photo of how you are using the blanket to keep heat away from the transmission.

Well the Order is in
Awesome truck! And simple is the best way to go. I waited 4 1/2 months when I ordered the '99 in my signature! Worth the wait and hope you enjoy your NEW truck for many years and safe miles.

Push starting a manual transmission Cummins
Around here it is called; "Bump Starting" & "Push Starting". Never tried it on the Dodge/Cummins, but when I was a kid we used to have to do it frequently to get old 2 stroke dirt bikes running and find myself having to do it once in a while on a vintage dirt bike or two occasionally. Thing is, I get out of breath faster than when I was a teenager! haha

I've been using one of these Titanium French Presses for about 17 years! Works great and you can take it with you anywhere.....just add hot water! Rinse it out and ready for your next round of coffee. Michael https://snowpeak.com/collections/gifts-under-100-dollars/products/titanium-french-press-cs-111?variant=671114549

I hope to make it out there. Would like to see the Columbia River and drive along the coast from Eureka, CA to the Washington/Canadian border. Diesel fuel was $.87 to $1.30 per gallon when I got the truck in 1999 and it was good quality No 2 Diesel Fuel too! Miss those days..... Michael

Thanks dripley, NC is a great state and I have enjoyed many miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Thanks notlimah, driven the '99 Dodge in every State in the Continental 48 except Oregon and Washington. Hope to get out there sometime and see the PNW Coast line.
