  1. Her father King George VI wasn't born to be our king his brother Edward VI was the eldest but he abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson and then in WW2 was exposed as a Nazi sympathiser, he ended up being sent to the West Indies somewhere in disgrace
  2. Invited her 15th Prime Minister to form a government on Tuesday, was at Balmoral in Scotland instead of London as she was advised not to make the journey she looked frail but ok on the news Tuesday. Palace issued a statement at 12.30 saying she was under medical supervision, then at 6.30pm a statement that she had died this afternoon. Not been the same since Prince Philip died April last year. She actually met 14 American presidents, only one in the 70 years of her reign she didn't get to meet but I don't know who it was ?
  3. 70 years absolute dedication to our country
  4. @IBMobile bang on, you'd fit right in here think in all the M25 and everything inside it (London) and everything within a 60 mile radius is the very worst of the UK
  5. I helped my brother move house last week and the weekend He had 10 large fish tanks with fish which he couldn't take as he went from a 4 bed rented to a 3 bed which he bought but quite a bit smaller He swapped some tanks and fish for a 8ft tank to keep his 10 piranhas in these are seriously scarey fish which he has to keep stuffed with food like a bulls foot or they eat each other. I ended up with a 4ft tank with 4 fish (wifes since bought another 6) And a small 2 1/2ft tank with 2 small puffer fish in it that can not live with anything else Wasn't really interested at first but I have to say they are fasinating and really quite relaxing Did try and post a picture but it came out upside down so gave up with that
  6. Got a ebay message from a guy in response to my ad for American 5th wheel and TT towing service He wanted a cost to tow a bumper pull from South Ockendon near Thurrock in Kent (south east coast) to Newquay in Cornwall (south west coast) South Ockendon is 130miles from me, Newquay is 300miles from South Ockendon and then around 300 miles home So around 750 miles total give or take I'm figuring my truck would be around 15 mpg (uk gallon) on the towing 300 miles so around £170 for that bit Might get over 20 for the 450 or so miles not towing so at 20mpg that might be around £200 ish so if it cost me £370 in fuel I'd be happy at that. I thought I'd overquoted @ £900 but he bit my arm off Worst thing is it's South and part of the tow is around the M25 which is pants and it's 5000kg, my own bumper pull was 6500kg and my truck managed that ok, we'll see
  7. I wouldn't touch that water seperator with a pole, a filter should not "trap" water, it seperates out at the bottom and then you drain it off Guess they did the above to sell more silly unrequired filters In a normal water seperator with good clean fuel drain intervals are few and far between, if there is water present draining the seperator over a period of time will remove it for FREE without having to buy filters and the bowl is usually see through so you know how bad the fuel is and when it needs draining or there is a sensor for the people that just get in and go
  8. Typically the Cat water separator is just a long screen filter with either a removable bolw underneath or a drain plug, on the suction side. The long casing or the upside down funnel shape allows water to drop to the bottom. The fuel filter is either paper or a synthetic equivalent on the pressure side. A 2 micron water separator wouldn't last long if the fuel system had water in as if there is water there is always slimey crud and that would block a 2 micron filter in minutes
  9. No it won't have done any damage just as long as you fuel system isn't full of garbage and water, and for the record water/fuel seperator is always first as thats just a casing, some do have a very open mesh where the water can sink to the bottom with ideally a water drain at the bottom, so remove the water and big crud first as you do not want that in your very fine (micron) paper filter As for why the poor info, most people that sell stuff or put stuff together to sell have NO IDEA why, what for, and what purpose
  10. I just turned the ignition on to check mine which is a 98.5, gauge goes straight to 140F with ignition on engine off, been out to get de ionised water this morning so engine isn't overnight cold and when I just started engine then it read what the temp was but not with just ignition on if that helps

  12. Yesterday I bought myself a Ultrasonic parts cleaner, wasn't nowhere near cheap as it's MIUK and not china, I could have bought a chinese made one quite cheap the UK one was not cheap, I get the Vat back because I'm a business so thats 20% less Professional nearly 8 imperial gallon tank or 9.5 US gallons, with basket, all stainless steel I have quite a few parts off the Harley to clean and I also repair and restore Magnetos so looking forward to it arriving and seeing what it can do
  13. I actually live in the National Forest just not to much linked up forest, was grand gov idea maybe 20 years ago, I do have a pretty good area next to me one wooded area going right up to Grace Dieu ruins which would be right up your street for metal detecting. Also on the edge of Charnwood forest in the other direction and sherwood forest (Robin Hood) a few miles north but no wood for collecting Thanks @IBMobile for the link and yes I guess a lot of trees ended up in ships and I guess in houses of old. @Mopar1973Man I guess 40 miles is not so bad, well better than here anyway. I am pretty lucky as son is a landscaper so he occasionally fells smaller trees which he drops off here
  14. I would imagine wood is plentiful where you are, not so here but enough waste wood at the moment although I expect that will change but not any use for all houses as newer built rubbish don't have chimneys and the estates they are on you cannot burn wood/coal anyway. The greens have even got gas boilers banned in new houses from 2025 I think
  15. You wouldn't believe the state of the UK right now
  16. First off I have never driven a manual ram so can't comment on gear ratios That said I don't get the regear or smaller tyres on an auto. My truck tows most of the time, maybe 8 to 9k lb not really heavy but enough sometimes more but not too often I have a 32 to 33" ish tyre either 305 or 315, can't remember, just on the limit of rubbing anything. Truck looks about right. OD off I'm over 2k at 60 and it is just right for our speed limits. EGT's are low usually between 500 and 1000f, mpg I don't check as I'm paid for travel at £1.40 per mile and I know it needs injectors but it is OK, I could no doubt get more mpg if I spent some time messing with the quad. Best thing is with OD off converter stays locked to below our urban speed limits off 30mph. Also I'm never tempted to tow in od so that's another bonus. All the above said. 35" tyres would NOT work for me as they would be too much and mess up what for me is perfect 👌
  17. Are you self sufficient in oil/gas? We used to be but cheaper imports from Russia and other countries made further developments in the North Sea not cost effective until now plus the green fools got fracking banned here. Just heard on the radio news that over a 1/4 of people in the UK will not turn on their heating this winter
  18. It certainly is and worse to come
  19. Around 22 to 23c here today I picked up maybe 10 pallets from the site I was at yesterday for firewood, not very good long burning firewood but free so in my book thats great I don't know about you guys but here our gas and electricity prices are through the roof, we have whats called a "price cap" which is basically a max amount energy suppliers can charge for 1 kwhr of electricity and 1 therm of gas, this is then calculated out for a typical average home useage, this "Cap" was at just under £2k which means the average home in the UK would expect to pay £2k ish for energy, it has just been reviewed for the october change and it is going to be an 80% increase to just under £3600, the next one is April next year and that is expected to rise to over £5k and the october one next year over £7K. This is a direct deal from Putin as he has pretty much turned the gas tap off for the whole of the EU and whilst we in the UK do not use any Russian gas or oil we buy in the same market as the EU so effectively pay the same price. Years gone by our stupid governments shut down our gas storage facilities and companies cut back on our North Sea oil fields especially research and development so that is right now unable to take up the slack, this is all maybe due to the climate change fools and pollution targets. Fast forward to now and boy are we in a mess. I drive by a coal power station to get to one particular site I work at, for a few years it was hardly used at all and the coal banks were always flat and always talk of it being switched off for good, actually on the news fairly often that the UK as been coal free for over a year IIRC, drove by yesterday on the way to site, power station flat out, cooling towers steaming like the Flying Scotsman and the coal banks higher than I've ever seen them. Our first shipment of Australian LPG arrived the other week the first for years I don't use gas as I have a biomass pellet boiler and a large log burner but electricity prices are scary right now and here there is already a lot of people that have to make the choice between heating and eating and thats without the 80% increase in october Also took the cover off the bell housing to see what's happening. No leak right now and nothing untoward or loose, area is wet ish with trans fluid. Cleaned it up and will check it after a few miles
  20. Going to take a better look at the leak this morning. On the holiday this one hasn't got a name, just August Bank Holiday It was created in 1871to allow Bank employees time off to watch cricket, was on the first Monday of August until 1965 when it was changed to end of August in England Ireland and Wales, Scotland kept the original 1st Monday in August as they do
  21. Returned to something nearer normal here in the UK around 23C or 73F ish but sunny Bank holiday weekend here, I have been on site from 8.00 this morning servicing a loading shovel and cleaning out the fuel system on a Lansing Linde forklift, no one else on site, just me, let myself in this morning alongside a canal in Nottingham ( Robin Hood country) gotta be up there with the best working days in over 44 years, every so often the pop pop pop pop of a canal boat cruising on by. Come to let myself out and the truck is leaking trans fluid from the bellhousing, turns it off to take a look and on the restart it isn't leaking, 20 miles home still not leaking, ah well thats messed the day up for sure, I really do hope I'm not pulling the trans, really haven't got time for that rubbish
  22. This is exactly what return checking on my lift pump has proven. What is important is return to tank from the overflow valve at the vp, my return flow is huge at 6psi lift pump pressure
  23. Well a few months ago my brother bought another Range Rover, V6 TDI, same as the last POS he had Last week I got a call from him "can you tow me home" he broke down about 15 miles away Gets there, has a quick look and right hand side intake hose is split, with oil present, wouldn't run at all Tows him home like a conker tied to the tow bar Turns out the right hand turbo has **it itself, he gets a pub buddy to take a look who actually is a mechanic for a independant Landrover specialist, takes a 5 minute look at it while my brother is cranking it and turns out turbo took the motor out, firing back out the r/h intake so valve damage at the very least. To replace the turbos and the guy said if 1 is shot so is the other, the body has to come OFF !!!! £4.5k minimum for 2 turbos and an intercooler, engine 10k plus on top He binned it to a breakers and got 1.5k THEN went out and bought a Porsch Cayenne, got the usual problem with the radio which does what it pleases all the time which is a common fault, calls Porsch dealer, hourly rate £268 yes PER HOUR Some people never learn..... horse to water and all that I'll be towing this thing home within a year for sure
  24. I'd have to say those MIC spot welds will certainly fail Either weld the end on properly or drill them out one at a time and use small nuts/ bolts say 6mm or 5/16th
  25. Yes my return goes back to the sender. I have a return to the neck all made up but no need to fit it. I also don't get hung up on pressure, 6psi at idle but 20psi at anything over 2k, at idle even at 6psi the return line on my truck is sending a lot of fuel back to tank You could do as you suggest but might be too much for your pump in the long term
