  1. Have to check but think 9007 are outer bulbs light up low and high. 9004 are inner bulbs and do not light in low only high so 9007 and 9004 light in high. Low-9007- outer bulb- low element lit High-9007 and 9004-inner and outer bulbs- both high elements lit 9004-inner bulb-low element not used It has been a while since i worked on a sport set up. I'll try to find a wiring diagram later to double check.
  2. 1 bulb lights high and low other bulb lights high only in factory sport wiring if I'm not mistaken. Don't remember which bulb does what for sure but i THINK 9007 only lights in high. I was wrong. 9004 only lights in high. See post below.
  3. @IBMobile Got my lockup switch installed today. Hit momentary switch and converter locks. Hit it again converter unlocks. Hit brake it unlocks. I used a toggle switch instead of a dimmer switch. When i flip the toggle it locks without pressing the momentary switch and brakes do not unlock converter. Only did a short drive to check operation but seems to work fine. Thanks for the write up.
  4. Is @Dynamic going to put out a kit? If not a kit maybe a write up with pictures, part numbers and some good instructions. Download for a fee? Sounds like a plan.
  5. Switch only commands the lockup its not going to change anything other than when it happens. If you look around you can find the instructions for a lot of the kits online. I'm not sure i want to do anything thats going to prevent me from using this VB as a core. Goal is to eventually get a good VB and converter for this pig. Mayde exhaust brake also.
  6. Came up with this. Late model Taurus. Passenger side. Uses 9012LL bulb. Any ideas on how to use it for something?
  7. @dave110 read it thanks. This is the kind of stuff im looking for. I want to know why and how something works (or doesn't) before i do it. I want to understand the reason for the modification. I have built some 3 speed autos mostly 727 and 904, a couple 700r4's, A4LD, and my 47rh. Done quite a few shift kits. For the 727 & 904 i liked using manual reverse pattern VB or a trans brake better than any shift kit. When doing the 47rh i read a lot and asked a lot of questions and at the time the Transgo came out on top. That was 10 years ago and things change. I want to know if there are better options out there now. Thanks for the link.
  8. I have heard the benefits of towing locked in 3rd and also want to do exhaust brake in the future and hear it helps with that. Plus i like to tinker with things. If i don't like it or use it i can take it off.
  9. Not in a big rush who knows when ill find time to do anything. Still need to get the lock up switch installed, air pressure gauge is hanging by the air hose in cup holder, new dash bezel sitting in garage and trying to get new fenders doors bed and tailgate painted.i really need to finish 1 thing before i start 3 more things.
  10. I almost did a belt driven ac compressor air pump. The ones Mopar1973man mentioned are known to be very reliable and move some air. Few years back i found places selling mounting kits for a bunch of different engines but the prices were ridiculous. Quite a few write ups on different installs too. Can be done fairly reasonable price if you can fab up your own parts. If you need serious air belt drive is probably the way to go.
  11. I sent dynamic a message but haven't heard from him.
  12. Nitrogen is nice. My setup works great for me im happy with it. Did a water pump on a friends service truck 7.3l f350. Used air chisel for fan clutch, 1/4 & 3/8 air ratchet for clamps and bolts, angle grinder w/ scotch brite to clean gasket surface. Grabbed some tools at lunch & went to parking lot of the guys business. 55 minutes later pulled back in my shop. Use mine for last minute/emergency things. Sole reason i put air on truck was tires it turns out its a lot more useable than i expected it to be. I get its not for everyone and if i had to buy everything new at once i wouldn't do it. Bought everything used or open box except air line and some fittings.
  13. @kzimmer Yeah it rubs. Spring is smooth & cable justs slides through it. Haven't seen any signs of fraying yet. Don't expect to either. @Evan Cut the spring and bend a new end on it. I've done quite a few shift kits in old cars and 3 or 4 in the 47rh/re's. They are all simple as long as you follow directions. Mainly wondering if the Transgo kit was still one of the best for these or if there something better now. Also want to know if i decide to get a VB later if i can use a shift kitted VB as a core.
  14. I want one of his VB's and a good converter. I can afford a shift kit. I used one years ago in a 47rh and it did help. i am trying to figure out if i want to do a kit now or wait till spring/summer and try to save up for a VB from dynamic. I know i should probably just wait and get a VB but im pretty impatient. @hdpwipmonkey only thing i had to do was drill a small hole in the bracket where i wanted to hook the spring.
  15. No problem. Lowe's home depot napa all have things like that. About 1 inch long i think. If i could remember where i saw it i would give the guy credit.
  16. I guess what I'm really wanting to know is should i use a Transgo TFOD-DIESEL shift kit or something else? Anything special i should do? Anything to definitely not do? I know i need to get a gauge on it and check line pressure. Stock rebuild, stock replacement converter as far as i know.
  17. I have. Did that when i first did it.You can also pull on the cable at the engine end and get no additional movement. It doesn't take much force to move the lever.
  18. @Evan Yes it is. I can say that because it wasnt my idea. I stole it from someone else but don't remember who. I just found a random spring in the garage and used it.
  19. I adjusted TV cable to factory spec. Then put this spring on. This holds TV open more at light throttle increasing line pressure. When at WOT the spring is stretched out but it takes up all the slack in TV cable. Notice 2nd pic at WOT cable still has very slight bow. Lever on trans all the way back, throttle wide open and not limited at all. This helped the feel of the 1-2 shift at light to part throttle most. Eventually i will figure out who has my pressure gauge and can check line pressure.
  20. No. spring hooked to bracket pulling up on cable. Pulls tv open a little. At wot spring stretches and cable is straight. Ill take a pic later.
  21. Cant find my gauge but im still looking. Just have bill from Cottman not sure what upgrades they may have done. I have a small spring putting a little tension on the cable to up pressure. That did make it feel much better.
  22. I have an Ingersoll Rand impact that works good with this set up. Im not saying i use air tools all day on this thing. OBA started out to air up slicks. I went to a 4 day race and woke up on day 2 to 2 brand new 29.5x12.5/15 slicks that were flat. We had 2 portable air tanks and just over a 1/4 mile walk to the track compressor. Took multiple trips. I almost missed my class run. Over the years my system grew. I have a cheap electric Harbor Freight 1/2 impact. Take it to junkyard but it lives in wifes van.
  23. @Mopar1973Man Why never try air tools? Impact gun doesn't use much air and i always hand check lugs anyway. I've used it on the side of interstate to change flats and it is great. Those electric impacts are pricey. When we're at a track rushing to get things done between rounds those air tools are perfect.
  24. On the topic of solder make sure you never use acid core on anything electrical. May sound obvious but i have seen people use it and it causes some of the nastiest electrical problems you will ever see. I think the stuff i use is .023 its small diameter makes it flow easy on small gauge wires and if you are doing large wire just take a 2 foot long piece fold it over a few times and twist it together to thicken it up. The solder is .032 diameter not .023
  25. @IBMobile Just today i started wiring up your lock up for my truck. I've got everything wired on the bench with extra wire because i haven't decided where I'm putting the switches yet. Now i just need to find time to get it in the truck. Thank you for the work to design this and the excellent write up to go with it. It still amazes me the amount knowledge and help available on this site from yourself, @Mopar1973Man, @Dynamic, @Me78569 and everyone else. Thanks to you all.
