Tried that. Still the same issues. Always have to wait for it to fail to connect, then click on the gear, click on connect to adrenaline, and click on "scan" first and wait about 10 seconds, then click on my already saved at the top iquad... it will then start loading its parameters and connect... but If I just click straight to the saved thing without hitting scan first...it fails. the mac address never changes. the thing I connect to never changes but for whatever reason it won't connect to it unless I manually click on the scan button first and give it time to try and look for other bt devices. considering going back to my smokey v1 programming and my v1 pulse monitor just to be done with these ridiculous connection issues and have a real monitor again.

Wired connection will always be superior. No connection issues ever. 100% reliability. Can't wait to ditch the app cause my dedicated truck phone is squawking about sim card issues now. Every 5 minutes it wants to reboot because the sim card came loose or it can't read it, etc...another issue a dedicated wired monitor does not suffer from... lol

They do sell some cheap chineseum phones at wally world that run android for like $30. My fiancee loves those phones. Refuses to get anything more expensive/nice LOL.

Guess you didn't read this whole thread then ;) lol

I use an old Samsung Galaxy S4 I set up to boot up when I start the truck automatically, and it auto-launches the quadzilla app, and it auto-shuts down when I turn the key off. I leave it in the truck 24/7.

That's just a phone with a new case on it. The whole point is: we don't want another "wireless/bluetooth" monitor. We want wired. I want a monitor that is hard wired into the adrenaline box and pulls power either from the adrenaline, or another 12v tap. the bluetooth works fine when it's actually connected, but the problem is getting it connected reliably. sometimes mine connects right away, but majority of the time it fails to connect and gotta wait a couple mins or make it scan for nearby bluetooth devices before connection will be successful. pain in the arse and can easily be avoided 100% by using a wired connection.

Gib monitor Jacob! I needs it! :D Bluetooth needs to go!

    New monitor before 2020?
  9. You said your wifes is a NV5600 but what trans is yours? nv5600s call for synchromesh manual transmission fluid which has the viscosity of 5w30 motor oil. I can definitely see gear oil building more heat due to higher fluid resistance against the gears. resistance generates heat. Good synchromesh and fill it up half way up the rotating assembly and call it good.

I don't care what kinda wiring it is as long as it's not using bluetooth/wireless to communicate with the adrenaline, and doesn't have something hanging off the OBDII or extra wires running around it doesn't need. If you aren't using USB-C for communication to the adrenaline...why put on the back? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if you aren't using USB-C for data, then I would assume you are using the port just to flash/update the monitor's firmware or loaded tunes correct? Cause I would think it a bit redundant for power since you can pull that from the adrenaline. So if we need it for updating but not need it to be plugged in all the time, would it not make more sense to have it on the side for easy access in case we have a pillar mount we don't want to remove it from constantly to flash update?

Nicely done! Did you get the automatic bootup going too?

tactile buttons for power level increase/decrease would be a nice feature ;) Half the time I'm trying to change a power level while driving down the road with the touch screen app and end up dragging up the gauge add bar thing at the bottom rather than changing power levels cause bumpy roads and such.
  13. I've been looking at the pioneer deck with android auto support. AVH-3300NEX (can still find on amazon) and it's later replacement AVH-3400NEX (basically just newer model of the same unit) My current one is an ancient dvd navigation deck with flip up screen that covers the vents. don't really care about covering the vents as 95% of the time I have it set to windshield and floor. But on the hot summer days when I want those center vents...push a button and the screen closes. Android auto is dependent on your phone being connected to it and running. you can use it for in-dash navigation via your phones GPS/google maps. works with ipwns too (apple car play and android auto) only catch is when using android auto you won't get to use quadzilla app till you unplug the USB from your phone. But if it's anything like the Sony deck I have in my car with android auto support...it will also let you take calls, play music, etc via just bluetooth as well without the cord plugged in. Just need the cord plugged for google maps on the screen.

gib plz! I just need wired connection to adrenaline and ability to adjust v2 tuning. not sure I would want something hanging off my OBDII port...

@Quadzilla Power What's the good word?! Did ya get any pictures and how is the progress coming along?
  16. and with the app you are stuck with BT connection issues and trying to fiddle with it while you're driving to get it connected, or sitting parked with the truck running for 10 minutes before you can leave while you try to get the app to connect... btw as mike has also confirmed...the 30 second auto reconnect DOESN'T WORK! I left it for a couple minutes and all it did was sit there doing nothing. Also don't like the default gauges it chooses. I like the digital output gauges better. Be nice if that could be set as the default gauge screen.
  17. haha arduino isn't so bad. It's pretty much made for DIY robotics and such. they make monitors for arduino you can program GUI's on and touch operate. OS not required.
  18. if only I had access to source code... I would have had a v2 tuning DIY Frankenstein monitor cooked up on an arduino or raspberry pi board with a TFT screen attached to it
  19. Set timing scale % lower. I can't say whether or not it worked as they originally intended it, but dialing the scale back certainly made my truck behave better in higher RPM... my truck hated higher timing in higher RPMs when scale was at 100%. It liked about 6.5° @ 45%-55% timing scale

i'll make it fit.. That aside....you already know i'm down for beta testing. I'll even buy it Have had my adrenaline w/pulse (v1) for over 10 years now, (got it back in summer of 2008 not long after the adrenalines first came out) and the iquad for a couple weeks now. so still new to the new tuning...gives a prospective of both an old and new user all in one. Can't wait to see what kinda screen ya got cooked up for us! Years in the making! Also this time around can I suggest a harness connector to the back of the monitor instead of how the old monitors had the wires directly soldered to the board. Just to make it easier to get in and out of the truck if we need to service our A-pillars or remove it to get to something else behind it.

soooo....new monitor coming? how big? will it fit in Pulse monitor pillar mounts? will it do v2 tuning? is it wired like the old pulse monitors, or will we still have to use the unreliable BT connection?
  22. You knew it had more timing by feel? How so? Cause if you felt less pull in the higher RPM range and lower EGTs, then you had a lot of timing. if you keep pulling hard in the higher RPM range and have higher EGTs: you have less timing... I always tuned my truck with the old tuning to pull timing in the upper RPM range.

Use these "destructions" at your own risk. I take no liability or responsibility for you messing up your android device in any way/shape/form, and I suggest you use a device you don't care about as you will likely mess up if you don't follow directions properly and need to factory reset the device and try again. (factory reset wipes all user data, apps, and settings) Boot up on key-on: For many devices: verify your phone supports "fastboot" (use google and find out) Follow the video to get android SDK tools installed on your computer. Follow this video to enable boot on charging via "fastboot" For (older) Samsung devices: You will need to root your phone/device. I suggest using google to figure out how to do that for your specific device. If you can't figure that out, you probably shouldn't be attempting any of this... download a root file explorer/manager navigate to /system/bin look for a file called "playlpm" or just "lpm" rename that file to 'playlpm.old' or 'lpm.old' (depending on which one you have) create a new file called 'playlpm' or 'lpm' edit the file with a text editor and add the following lines to it: #!/system/bin/sh /system/bin/reboot 8. save the file and then modify the permissions of the file (VERY IMPORTANT!!! DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!!!!!) chmod 0755 /system/bin/playlpm chown root.shell /system/bin/playlpm replace 'playlpm' with just 'lpm' if your original file was 'lpm' Note the above is changing permissions which you can do via a terminal via those commands, or you can do so via the file browser by changing owner to 'shell' and setting permissions to special none owner full, group read execute, others read execute If you skip the permissions step your phone will not boot and need factory reset. be very sure you change owner of that new file and set the permissions before you reboot the phone and try it. If successful: you will see the battery charge icon come on momentarily when you plug in the phone, and then the phone will boot up on its own. For automatically starting quadzilla app on boot: use startup manager or autostart apps and add iquad app to the list. there are also more powerful root versions of these apps that can stop other apps and services from starting on boot to make load times a little faster...I don't suggest blocking any system services from starting unless you absolutely know 100% what you're doing. Automatic shut down on key off: You will need root access for this as there is no other proper way around it. Download an app called "Automate" by llamalab (free in googleplay) Create a flowchart like so: basics of the above chart: flow beginning: just name it. when power source plugged: place below flow begining shutdown: place below above timer: place to either side and set time to 10-20 seconds Now connect flow beginning to 'in' on when plugged. connect when plugged 'no' to shutdown 'in' connect when plugged 'yes' to timer 'in' connect timer 'ok' to when plugged 'in' connect shutdown 'ok' to when plugged 'in' save it and name it if you haven't already. start the flow when you are ready to test it. note you may need to download additional plugins for automate that will automatically grant root access to your flow for the shutdown command. that is also free and it will prompt you. You will also need to add automate to your automatic startup applications list so this script will start when the system boots. The script will check every 10 seconds if your device is plugged in or not and shut it down if it is not. You can change the script how you see fit and make it more complex if you want or have a longer shutdown timer. If you need to use the phone not plugged in: just go into automate and stop the script from running and you will be able to unplug your phone without it shutting down on you automatically. Simply restart the script again when you want to resume auto-shutdown functionality.

Still have connection problems with the app... Half the time it wont connect and will say unable to connect. Spent like 10 minutes closing and re-opening the app yesterday till it finally connected. Seems the app is not quite there yet with error handling and making stable bluetooth connections for all devices. part of the reason a monitor is still better...you only have to code for 1 device rather than try to support thousands of different devices that run the same OS but might do things differently via that OS. had the app crash on me plenty of times as well. if you shut the screen off while the app is still connected or change windows to another app and then change back to the quadzilla app, it will crash the quadzilla app.
