  1. while i have heard alot and did alot more research i am lead to believe the PACBrake PXRB is the best option. My understandfing is the PXRb holds better back pressure, now since i don't have one or much of anything related my stuff is just that theory.
  2. yea, i can say somet of those were white nuckle, it took me almost a whole afternoon to drive that camper around boyds campground in key west. The Campground oweners were like "hmmm we have never had anyone with a 5th wheel camper this big before im not sure how we can get you to your slip, and i was like :banghead:
  3. i would think running a toggle or a kill switch to the Vp-44 controller would be better because anyone can just cross the solenoid on the starter.
  4. Im surprised mike doesn't have a thread or a page about how to disable your starter. i am a frequent offender of this, and outside of that fact the guys at work rarely ever showup and leave when i do i feel they don't realise. there is only one guy who knows i give him rides home from work all the time, but we have become good friends over time. I leave mine under the center console ar rest thing, just pick it up an inch and there she is. I did this because when i am running the doctors around in bad weather i have left my keys locked inside before with the truck running.
  5. parts needed are simply, a good TC, a shift kit, or a master rebuild kit, a billet imput shaft. And if course a lockup switch or controller. The PAC brake has a automatic delay built in for auto transmissions that will allow the TC to lock, then it will stay engaged down to 15mph, then it unlocks.a built transmission is not a suggestion it is required.
  6. just the other day i had a though about this.man i need to make that kill switch.
  7. it never did, and it started 3 days ago, the injectors have almost 3,000 miles on them, and im yanking them tomorrow to get pop and flow tested for S&G. This morning the truck stalled when i left work, i drove 3 miles to breakfast at ihop and shut the truck off. And guess what an hours later got in the truck she went into gear just fine. But i will say the rpm's dropped to about 500rpm before bouncing up to 625-650. I drove to the other diner and had a appetizer with my girl and then shut the truck off again, fired right up and was fine. It was 55 out this mornignt he truck did have thw WTS light on for about 10-15 seconds. My suspects are 1. VP-44 2. injectors 3. tranny. 4. the evil "electrical" gremlin. the only other thing i can think of is that dam VP-44, with pyrometers still running higher then they should im banking that might be part of the problem, but we shall see. The truck was fine last night when i left for work, but it was 65-68 out.
  8. outside of ant killer anyone have any good advice on ants, especially many of them.
  9. i feel that there are a few things i would take a swing at.1. you said the tire blew out, i would jack the trailer axle up enough to get the tire up in the air, and then kick the tire, or see if the tire rotates in any direction, if it does then i would first tighten up the bearings, or replace them.more then once i have had issues where the trailer i was towing had worn out bearings. One time the bearings were so dry that that shooting them with grease did nothing, well turns out there were no bearings left, lucky it was a local deal and i ended up replacing both sets at my house, the owner had no clue and when i explained it he said "oh that is what the squeak noise is":banghead:Next, ide bump the tire pressure up to 5psi less then the max is cold on the rear tires, your trailer should also be withing 5psi of the cold reading. Next ide also change acceleration and driving habits, at the most i tow 60mph, typically i have found that with campers and RV's your mpg seems to go away above 55-58mph, with boats its typically higher around 60-65, but i ten not to go much faster then 60 because you also have to realize your rolling resistance X the speed and wind resistance, and then the overall weight will decrease the performance.Hauling 10,000lbs on a hitch my truck would get about 14, much more then that like some of the mad stuff i have hauled i haven't seen much works maybe 12mpg, but then im towing in 3rd gear at 52.Last thing ide check is rpm x boost x speed. i have found that i get better loaded mileage when in 3rd gear at 55mph and im running about 2K, the truck doesn't seam to be working, when compared to running 1,500 at 55mph.
  10. we never had this problem because we would leave the trucks plugged in all the time in the winter, and the mice love only the top of the warm motor, specifically between the APPS bracket and the intake. enough sound deadening material to tell my truck was getting louder, LOLI would say the best thing to do is be at the vehicle constantly, moving it, or even running it here and there. mice will learn that as soon as they feel a huge vaccume such them up against the filter tell find a new place to hide. Now what i would like to know is what to do about spiders and snakes in my truck.:banghead:

  12. i too am in that crazy club. I have also hit that 40,000lbs and up club. I was conned into hauling a Formula 400ss series boat that empty weight in at 18,000, the trailer weight in at 17,000, plus my truck which tipped at 7,200 with 5th wheel hitch installed. total weight was likie 42,000+lbs. The trailer was a custom low body trailer that rode almost 1ft off the ground, however with airbags it could be raised to almost double to help clear weird angles and stuff, strange looking thing. link to a boat site to see what it looks like http://www.boattest.com/boats/boat_video.aspx?id=2201 My 99 the heaviest i have had dragged around was a 18,000lbs camper that rolled across the scales at about 24,000. what i couldn't figure out is what weighted 6,000lbs that he could put into the camper. Total load was 31,000 the 99 also had a Star 5 Camper which at its time was the heaviest camper weighting at 5,100lbs or around there, it was so heavy (i remember buying it with my dad) that the Camper dealership up in Massachusetts refused to sell it to us unless we loaded it up on the truck and took it for a ride. Apparently this camper was 14 times and never left the parking lot as everyone who bought the camper would come in and load it up and couldn't get it anywhere(it would bottom out the tire wells). the last guy had a F-350 but that thing the front end got squirrelley right out front of the dealership as they were on the side of a mountain. And well that camper came back. Anyways we loaded up this camper, and the guy got in the passenger side and my dad took him for a spin in the Cummins, and the truck handled like a tank. Loan behind then in febuary of 2002 during a bad arse snow storm my dad decided to go to florida, and then they bought an extend a hitch and had a bolted bracked welded to the back of the camper This extended hitch was a separate bolt on for the truck that was a real hitch, with about 10 feet between the bumper and the end of the camper it was a long bracket, then a trailer with a 16 foot palm beach boat was added on the end. total weight was not that bad, just about 16000lbs or about there. My dad took that to fla all the way to key west and back. The rest is run of the mill stuff, boats of all sized and weight but nothing like that stuff mentioned above. SO to the OP, i think with the proper upgrades your truck will handle that camper just fine, call him back up and get it. My 99 had a complete suspension overhaul, i have stiff springs, and chock block that will bottom the axle out onto of the frame, so the springs are not inverted, in order for my truck to sit on the chock blocks i need at least 3,000 in the truck bed, so my truck is not stock either. i think it has a 6inch lift on it as it rides much higher then all the other trucks i have found.
  13. Hate to bust your bubbles guys but i have the same issues, but my trans is completely stock and the weather was 65 out today. Its so odd that it did this just the other day it started, i immediately sent Jim a Pm about it. It sucks this is such a issue as im really starting to wonder if this is a electrical gremlin or if this is something else completely. I have only had my new 60HP injectors in my truck for a month or so. then again i have a suto failing VP-44, that i leaking fuel out of the shaft seal and into the motor oil.
