  1. This should be moved to the "2nd Gen 12V" forum for more exposure I believe. ISX is the 12V guy here.
  2. YabbaDoo.................ISX is "the one" to contact about broken bones JFYI!!!
  3. Bump to the top for an UPDATE, if any!!
  4. This has been a great thread!!! Rogan..........with only 5k miles on your retreads, maybe the tread hasn't "cured" yet???? Don't all new tires feel squirmy and/or wear funny until they get a certain amount of heating/cooling cycles in them???John..............Just was playing "devil's advocate" with you!!! I know you always have a great answer for everything!!!I'll be heading up to NoDak two weeks from tomorrow......Oct. 4. Three guys, 3 dogs with assorted gear in my truck. The rest of our gear is getting hauled up in a 6x10 cargo trailer behind my truck. Normally we have 4 guys and 2 vehicles going.................so the trailer will be on the truck up and down the gravel roads in NoDak all the time probably. I'll watch my tires. As you probably know, I run 70psi all the time...................I just don't want to fart around airing up and down all the time. My tires don't wear funny at all..............nice and even. I just rotated my tires last week, greased everything that has a zirk, changed oil, oil filters, fuel filters, air filter and CC breather filter. I'll post how everything goes up there.
  5. I resemble that remark!!!!
  6. You must have the wrong site!! This is a Dodge Cummins site...............not a "Cummings" site!!!:duh: You'd better change your signature, or we can't help you!!!! :cummins:
  7. John,So for arguments sakes here, you're saying that towing lightly most everyday of the week is less hard on tires than towing very heavy...............................what, 2 times a month......................every weekend.......................1 time a month?????Just asking...........as usual!!!
  8. That's sad!!!
  9. John, I don't disagree with you at all. I'm kinda just doing a SWAG here based upon tire posts in the far past and now the near past based on forum threads here!!! The OEM Michelins on my '04.5, I changed out at 81,000...............not because I had to..........because I had a flat, and I couldn't see patching a tire with that many miles on it........................So I bought the Cooper Discoverer ATR's and got 75,000+ miles on them..................................and I only replaced them because Cooper had a Sale/Rebate going on at the time..................................I now have over 38,000 miles on my Cooper Discoverer AT3's and expect to get another 38,000 miles out of them at least. Heck; on my '99 with the OEM Michelins..............I got 125,000 on them!! And I was "harder" on those tires than any others I've driven on since!!! I say that because of the roads I was driving on at the time.......................mostly highway...................but brutal expansion joints...................................spaced so that the truck+trailer bounced like a "***** in your dreams"!!!!! I had a female "apprentice" at the time driving my '99............she used to tell me the it hurt her "boobs" going up and down those roads, due to the bouncing. Joe
  10. I put on about 22,000+ miles a year..............averaged for the last few years. Probably 3-5,000 miles is on gravel/dirt roads, lanes, driveways etc. towing my work trailer or another trailer full of hunting gear. Probably half of the total miles are "empty" driving also. So how do I get the mileage out of my tires that many here cannot?????:shrug:Based upon the threads I read here and elsewhere; and sometimes reply to here and elsewhere, it'd seem that it doesn't matter what you do with "stock sized" tires!!! Many of the posts I read are about guys that cannot get the tire wear I do.........driving the same amount of miles. Most of them are running bigger than normal sized tires.Flame suit is standing readyl:smart:
  11. TOOL....................President of the USA.
  12. How do you guys know that the relationship between "load" and "tire pressure" is LINEAR???? I do know of Mike's figures and all, but I've never heard from "real tire guys" about this. I run 70psi in all 4 all the time............get good mileage.............and good tire wear. Just asking, not arguing.
  13. Does not Minnesota law mandate at least 5% bio in all diesel sold within the state???? I've run B-20 here in northern Illinois; and most, if not all Minnesota gets colder than Illinois....................and I've not heard of an epidemic of gelling, separating, etc. up there with bio in recent years.
  14. Mike; have you found a solution to this dilemma yet??? A slotted type spacer of some type maybe???With my MotorGuard, I'm just leaving more TP on the roll...............and have been resigned to the fact that there's a void at the top and/or bottom of the housing.Just a wondering.
  15. I know it's satire; but there are folks that actually do "blindly follow" the man that way!!!
  16. On sale now at AutoZone...................at least in NE Illinois/SE Wisconsin. $12.99/gal sale price. Normally $17.99/gal.
  17. What is "gear roll over noise"??? I read years ago about a fellow that actually took tranny temps with different quantities of gear lube in the NV5600. IIRC, the tranny actually operates COOLER(according to him) with the OEM amount or just slightly more vs. the 6-8+qt. amount. Is it foaming and not getting splashed around to dissipate the heat generated??? Twas probably CF or TDR where I read it.
  18. Sorry, overlooked the '05 in your signature. I'd surely recommend it for you then!!!
  19. All of this^^^^^ is spot on, 116.93%, correct. I'm wondering now if the "knock" he's hearing isn't CP3 "phasing" related. As much as I hate to plug them.................go here for an explanation of CP3 timing/phasing. Wicked Diesel has most of the worth while posts. Many of the others just seem like idiots driving their Daddy's truck!!!! Here you go.............. http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3rd-gen-powertrain/23399-cp3-timing-results.html
  20. I "LIKE" my wood!!! I don't "SCORE" my wood. For me; where I live, a "SCORE" is finding a home owner/neighbor with a tree down and asking if the wood is spoken for and if not, can I cut it up and haul it out.................or a tree service cutting along the road and asking if I can load up some in my truck or trailer...................................or a friend willing to trade work at my place for tree removal at his. There are numerous more scenarios that I've done before. I don't live near huge national forests like Mike..................where he can buy a permit and go cutting like crazy in order to fill his wood shed. Just saying!!!
  21. I did know that; but had forgotten the year where the change over was!!! Thanks!!
  22. JFYI; with the NV4500 and the NV5600, first gear ratios are the same............as well as the overdrive ratios.......... 5th(NV4500) and 6th(NV5600)!!!! Basically; other than weight...........the NV5600 goes almost 400lbs..................is the NV5600 has an added gear between 1st and overdrive.
