antifreeze... long and short
lol, shows how 'in the dark' I'm at with antifreeze! This jeep is the newest machine I own, a 2005, hell, it's the only one built in this century! (ya, my 2000 ram was actually made in Dec, 1999! ) G05 is the way then??? What color is THAT stuff?? Peak Global, is that a wally world find? Thanks man!

even if the alternator is 'disconnected'.. (output) isn't the field still excited? Just curious if any 'noise' could make it back though there. I have a old JD propane tractor and I couldn't get within 5 feet of the thing with a digital multimeter... it was going crazy before I even hooked it up. engine running. (make me wonder how I still have hair, all the hours riding that thing) Still not sure if it was my plug wires or the alternator itself causing such a radio interference... They both got changed on the same day. Probably the plug wires.

we've discussed in here using Cascade detergent to clean the inside of our systems.. mainly the oil from a bad cooler. It's been accepted that since cascade is more on the base side of Ph, It's kind of a 'neutralizer' for the cooling system too. Anyone see any problem of me cleaning up my jeep?... and going with a more common type antifreeze? I'd flush with clear water for about 4 times. I'll have to crawl under it to see if VM used draincocks on the block, or at least a screw in plug.

Are the jugs of antifreeze plainly labeled HOAT, OAT.. or do I need to research this beforehand? The silicate fallout... you mentioned, I read a post where a guy found the bottoms of his radiator, and recovery bottle with white sandy type material.. would this be the silicate?

Need advice!
DON'T BUY A TOYOTA WITH THE 3.0! (Unless the headgaskets already been recently replaced) typically, a 22re 4 cylinder is about 1500-2000 dollars higher than the optional 3.0 V-6 I bought a 4 cylinder 1994 pickup last spring, for my daily bomber/gopher vechicle. Man, those toyo's (pound for pound) are the toughest hammer in the box. Finding one that isn't rusted out... well, good luck! When I drive mine 1 mile to my son's house, it's fully warmed up. Those toyo's have a heating system that'll melt your underwear.

I'll agree with the not mixing the hoat, non hoat stuff.. I've read where you can get away with 'topping off' certain products. But I was wondering about a total system flush, ( I mean totally scrubbed ) and putting in 'normal' type antifreeze. I buy the pre diluted stuff these days, my tap water is so full of nitrates and minerals. keeping distilled water 'on hand' is just another jug to keep on the shelf. Geez, I've owned many iron block engines with aluminum heads, (oldsmobile, Pontiac 2.8's quad 4's ) running jive ol' green Sure, every dang one needed a head gasket @ 150-200 k, but that was considered 'normal' for the aluminum head to move 'faster' than the iron block, and it chewed up the HG... The replacement HG's I put on them were fel pro 'problem solvers' which had a Teflon type coating. In a nutshell, these HOAT (mopar, some fords) and OAT (GM) is the ADDITIVE they are putting in the coolant.. which is basically a recipe for longer life??

Only one other idea: How close is your fass 150 to the tailshaft sensor ( if that's where you have it). I read SOMEWHERE that aging lift pumps can start getting 'electrically dirty' and if they put out enough crap, possible your speed sensor is picking it up. After that, I'm tapped out of ideas (besides the apps itself) No fuse in the circuit making it worse... only thing I can think of is your total system is now running nominal batt volts Instead of the 13.5- 14.5, the now lower volts are causing the affected sensors to respond differently?? APPS replacement seems a common malady on these, geez, it's only ANOTHER 160 bucks! ( I know, I know...) If they were not so much a problem, or considerably higher priced, I'd try the lockup switch first, just to see if there isn't a problem in the transmission. Hate 'ghost' problems... the occasional on or off symptoms drive me nutz, Now, show me a rod sticking out the side of the block, Then I feel pretty good on a diagnosis!

http://www.dodgecumminsapps.com/page04.html here is a checklist of things to try BEFORE ordering a new timbo apps (165 bucks) I tried to copy the list, but it didn't want to work in here. 4 out of the 5 things they recommend you've tried.. but check out the speed sensor in the tailshaft

This is where my 'expertise' runs out! I was lucky 2 years ago when I helped my neighbor out, and the first thing we tried (replaced) actually worked! So, to answer your question, yes. It may very well be the root problem.. But I'd sure like to hear someone elses thoughts on how to test before shelling out more bucks!

hmmm, last time I helped my neighbor out with this exact same problem, ended up being his apps sensor. I see you already did the noise cancellation part, I wonder If the 'spike' is overwhelming the filter you put on? It doesn't take much to fool the pcm... and unlocks the TCC right away. Then when you are running faster, the apps in a different- less worn spot and the noise is much lower. Seeing you are only having this problem at a certain speed, This is all I can come up with! edit: you posted just as I submitted this... you said it DONT mess up with a trailer. you are pushing the accelerator down more with a load, and it's not in the 'problem area' of the apps..

antifreeze... long and short
I've seen HOAT antifreeze explained 2 different ways Hybrid Organic Acid Technology Hybrid Organic Antifreeze Technology. I got what I needed in 'searching'... CONFUSED! Edit: after reviewing my OP, the underscored HOAT says it's Hybrid Organic Additive Technology!!!! My jeep (as well as pretty much all Mopars since ~early 2000's ) need this. This antifreeze is NOT to be mixed with the older stuff, it'll turn to glop. One is ethylene, the other propylene glycol... not sure which is which! My vm diesel is an iron block, aluminum head, and has the famous Chrysler electrical system hanging upon it. Am I doomed to ONLY using HOAT ... even if I totally flush it out and start over new? I like to keep my inventory in the supply shed as simple as possible!

Motor Oil's cuss and discuss
My daughter found out the hard way ($$$$) about using the correct oil in her Dodge Intrepid. 2.7 has tiny oil galleries, plus a pretty funky timing chain/tensioner/guide set up... I believe that engine is a 0 or 5w type engine..

enlist a couple of cats. put one inside, (ok, forget that one) other on patrol on the outside Keep the grass mowed down tight under the RV. Better yet, keep on gravel or cement. This time of year, they be coming..lookin for a nice spot to winter! I've wondered about some sort of stainless mesh baggie.. nylon covered, to encase various cars, trucks, (add RVs boats etc) drive the vehicle over it, gather up the sides and bundle it like a Hershey kiss on the top. Ultimately, I'd like to have a couple of shipping containers (conex box) for the long term safety of a couple of my collection.- Pressure washers
well, he DID end up with a brand new house! not real fancy, more of a modular type house. put it on the same spot as the old. The old farm house was pretty run down, and speculation around here seems to point towards this as being the goal in the first place... lol, shoot, I'd try something like this, and I'd be in jail for the rest of my life. The house was not insured, (no big loss, probably valued less then 1,000 bucks) but the contents were insured. We have some real 'chicken shacks' around here people still live in so, yes, he made out like a bandit!- Pressure washers
box elder. my oh my. Neighbor had a brain fart a few years ago.. and was spraying his box elder bugs with a Hudson garden sprayer full of gas.. around the base of his house. yep. burned it to the ground. Not real sure what ignited it, but it didn't take long with a circle of fire all around the house. I have a dual wand pressure wand, and when I want soap, I turn the knob and it divides the flow to both nozzles, which drops the pressure, and presto! soap!- Mouse in the trailer
what about the tale of parking the trailer so the wheels are on a sheet of aluminum foil? neighbor swears by it.. He makes 4 pads of foil, about 1x2 foot in size... and parks the trailer on them. I suppose one for the jack too. I dunno, I've seen mice jump quite a distance when motivated!- Winter front
LOL, next time it's 10* , pop the hood, and put your bare hand on the engine dipstick, and with your other hand, crack the throttle to about 1500 rpm. Pull your trusty stopwatch out and tell us when you've had enough! I'd speculate 30 seconds.. I dunno about yours, but my fan really doesn't 'break loose' for several miles upon a cold start up. She's pumping quite a bit of air. After that, seems to freewheel ok. You're correct though, a closed 'stat (ie good condition) is the same effect as a totally covered cooling system... Right up until the truck starts to move! All bets are off then. Covers and initial warm up? nah, just as you said... not much effect. Running into a 50 mph headwind with 10 below ambient? Oh heck ya! They'd even be good for guys running around town, lots of shut downs/start ups... the cover would help hold what little heat is in the radiator.- Motor Oil's cuss and discuss

My vm diesel in the Jeep is in that 'class' of new diesel.. and finding oil that meets it's requirements. 0w-30 and 5w-30 (or 5w-40) isn't as easy as trundling down to wally world. I did find Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 for reasonable price this week there. it will be my winter oil. I gotta admit, it was painful to see that oil pour out the jug so easily today... more like Mazola. I'd hate to see how thin 0w oil is! This jeep came from south Texas, and had oil change stickers on it with Rotella 15-40 as the oil being used. I may use it next summer. But summer ONLY. Ya'll know I've been running EVERYTHING I own on Conoco fleet 15w-40.. cars, pickups, trucks, tractors, 4 wheelers.. gas diesel propane. All from the same 55 gallon 'jug'. I haven't walked down the oil alleyway in Wally world in years.. I thought I was on another planet! "blends, full synthetics, conventionals, " turbo diesel, gas.... then multiply all those with various weights, brands.. good grief! no wonder there is 2 rows devoted to oil in Wally land.,- Motor Oil's cuss and discuss
