  1. I remember well 1973 an 1974 , our 1st gas shortage had come about ,the dealer lots were filled with muscle cars and highway cruisers(rolling sofa cars) 7-9 passenger station wagons. So why did people panic over 50 cent a gallon gas , oh yeah they bought "small" cars Pinto , Vega , some Japanese cars a few German cars and for what 22 or 23 mpg. I had a full size 1968 Plymouth Fury III 318 2bbl carb. a/c p/s at 70 mph it got 16 mpg when the 55 speed limit was imposed it jumped to a 21 mpg car.
  2. The youngest boy an I cut up a neighbor's tree ,pecan we'll work on spliting it later.
  3. Dag nab it! I was thinkin' strawberry rhubarb .
  4. My 99 Club cab with fuel full and driver is around 6425 to 6450 depends on which scale the weight is done , stock 2wd longbed trk.
  5. Polaris or Blackstone Labs are my favorites.
  6. There are labs in most states , you might try looking for Dept. of Weights & Measure in your home state , I knew people who used Southwest Research Labs too.
  7. The filter used has been the Fleetguard LF 16035. Hope I typed the right # it's the standard Statapore Filter. Will be using LF 9028 , samples on oil will be done every 5,000 miles. This filter has the stacked disc media along with the Stratapore.
  8. Just a quick update , using standard stratapore filters , out to 20,000 now UOA's still within limits.
  9. My 1st thought , your brake calipers are bad , not fully releasing pressure on the pads. I would'nt put up with 10,000 mile pad or rotor replacement.
  10. Have you tried ? CONRAD & BISCHOFF, INC. 2251 North Holmes Idaho Falls ID 83401 800-869-6844 They are listed on Mobil's website as a stocking distributor for Delvac 1 products.
  11. The brands I see most Mystik Citgo Mobil & Chevron Shell all in the 10w30 I just was in a farm store in W. Missouri the had a huge display of the New Delvac 1 LE 5W30. Price was not bad either 18.99 per Gal.
  12. Oddly , after reviewing API specs I find no CH3 or CJ3 , are you sure on your spec ? my thought is if it meets CES20081 run it. While some may be afraid of lighter oils I welcome them.
  13. Your worry is unfounded , if Delo 5W30 or Delvac 5W30 can meet Cummins ISX M-11 Detroits DD-15 & Mack Volvo standards why would it not be good in your engine ? All Sae oils are backward compatible , at least until the new PC-11 comes in to use.
  14. I've had lots of people doubt the mileage claims , until they take a trip and see the fill up and the figures 1st hand..... then they're kinda quiet.
  15. If I recall correctly there was an other member that had 26 or 27 mpg think it had 12v.
  16. The 29 m.p.g. was on a road trip Allen Tx to Mc Alester Okla. common hwy driving. Lighter weight oils flow more easily . XOM has done many studies as has Chevron.
  17. M y truck is bone stock, no mods what so ever. 2wd with automatic.
  18. When I take long trips I try to maximize fuel mileage, IE tires aired fresh oil or oilfilter change , lower speed , And no I do not Hyper-Mile for economy.
  19. The mileage was figured by hand ,my 99 does not have a in cab computer. Previously had a 95 12 v that achieved low to mid 30's mpg. It had 3.55 gears 5spd manual the 99 has a automatic and 3.55 gears.
  20. I'm familiar with Hydrotex , great old line Company , knew many fuel distributors that added their flow improvers and a few used their cetane boost.
  21. My thought on lighter oils is a increase in M.P.G.'S While using 15W40 I;ve seen 27 m.p.g. with 10W30 over 29 M.P.G. so how high could I get with 5W30 HDEO like Delvac 1 5W30 LE ?
  22. Being as I'm old oil guy , I must say keep the ATF clean cooled and it should do ok , but above all use the right trans oil.
  23. I'm wondering........... who here will try lighter weight oils ? I remember how hard it was getting people to change from 30/40 weight to 15W40.
  24. ExxonMobil has announced that NASCAR began this month using Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy and Mobil Delvac 1 LE 5W-30 engine oil in its 65-truck fleet as part of the sport’s Race to Green initiative. Tony Stewart, driver of the No. 14 Mobil 1 and Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet SS, introduced the the new oils by ceremoniously topping off his a 2014 Chevrolet SS with Mobil 1 on April 4, prior to the start of the Duck Commander 500 Sprint Cup Series race that weekend. Michael Lynch, VP of Green Innovation for NASCAR, joined Stewart in topping off one of the NASCAR hauler trucks with Mobil Delvac 1 LE 5W-30.
  25. While a picture is worth a thousand words , it does make me wonder why Cummins offers the Sentinel system on their engines. It takes a small amount of the engines oil and adds it to the fuel system, has a tank with new oil to replenish what was used in combustion. I think the injectors shown above had too much used oil , possible unfiltered to cause this.
