After looken at cummins2001’s post hotw to get lower EGT’S

http://forum.mopar1973man.com/showthread.php/2867-How-to-get-lower-egt-s

I have NO problem with EGT’s I can’t get them past 800 even towing.

As my other post I want to get a little more gitty up.

And was wondering what Trubo I have? After looking and looking I could not find a tag

I did find some numbers on the houseing

Holset then there was a small 50 after that

One location said BK 2400

Next said 3593085

I looked throught both fourms to find infor on this and Googled it for number or pictures and found nothing one sight had the numbers but no information

Her are some pictures of it.

i have the 01 with an auto.

Thanks for the help

From your last pic I can tell you this, It's not an HX35 and It looks to be an HY35 if it is the stock turbo. Reason being is the HY35 uses a steel tube that connects the boost side of the turbo to the wastegate actuator. The HX35 there is a rubber tube that comes from a brass 90 that screws into the boost side of the turbo and connects to the wastegate actuator. I really need to see the whole turbo over all to be sure. If you can take an over all pic instead ov closeups it would be great. Just because your EGT's never get over 800 means nothing. There are many reasons why you EGT's are lower. 1. Is your EGT probe on the exhaust elbow (Post Turbo ) of the turbo or in the exhaust manifold ( Pre Turbo) 2. What power adder's do you have ( in stock form the egt's will be lower than if you add power adders. 3. what type of EGT guage do you have? ( some guages can be as much as 25% less accurate or even more. 4. where do you live? changes in altitude play's a major factor in EGT's The higher the altitude you go the higher the EGT's you'll see. Generally speaking. See many factors have a lot to do with how your EGT's are read. The most acurate place for the EGT probe is Pre Turbo ( ie in the exhaust Manifold ) drilled in the e=xhaust runner coming from the #6 cylinder. This is because on our trucks #6 cylinder gets the least amount of Boost from the turbo due to restritions and the air charge tends to be hotter by the time it gets to that cylinder. Hope this helps JG

It's an 01 auto which is HY35, and that pic confirms it. I can't see the end of the EGT probe but it must be in the downpipe. Your EGT will be a lot lower than what we have been talking about in that other thread (manifold mounted EGT probes).

yup HY35 definetly, ISX got to it first lol. let me know if you ever need one cause i got one sittin in the garage from when I swapped mine to an HX35. If you want a true EGT Reading you need to move your probe to the Exhaust manifold. What power adders do you have?

I have no power adders right now but I was thinking about the Edge. I am checking to see what i have before I add one and break something. Its a used truck so that is why i am checking first. i would hate to replace some thing that i don't need to.

It all depends on what you use it for and what you exspect from the truck. It was explained to me when I first got my truck the best way: and I quote from the Imfamous "BIG UGLY" " Do you want a little bit, or do you want more than that, or do you want OH MY GOD THIS THING ROCKS!!!!!" You can be anywhere in those spectrums!! it all depends on what you want!!
