Just want to vent about this, cause honestly it boiled my blood a bit.

I have been in the same line of work for 11 years. I am a chef. For sometime I was doing 2 full time jobs cause my wife lost hers. We made it but barely. I have two kids, well dressed and fed. I don't receive any assistance from the government, do not owe taxes, have no delinquent bills or bad credit.

So they hire a house keeper at my work, mind you this is about as low as you can go for my company. It is a minimum wage job, in fact it is the only job in the company that starts at minimum wage. She pulled in for her first days work in a Hummer. Ok, now I don't like to assume there has to be an explanation right? Her husband might have a good job, who knows?

Well it was time for break and I went out for a smoke (nasty habit, i know.) There she was blabbing to another house keeper about how her lazy husband doesn't work. Turns out her kid works there also. Same position.

Well today they pulled in with an Escalade with huge wheels and low profile tires. Just as the day before she is outside when I take my break.

This time she looks at me and starts complaining that her food stamp card (I guess they have a credit card type deal now) wasn't working.

I couldn't help it, I looked at her and asked why she needed assistance buying food when she was rolling in with such fancy cars. Her only response to me was "i don't tell you what to drive!" then she walked away.

Seriously how to people get away with it and how do they get these vehicles and homes in the first place. Is it really stereotyping for me to think there is identity theft going on when she can drive in with luxury vehicles and complain about a food stamp card?

Is it really un-constitutional for an official to spot check people on assistance programs to prevent fraud?

Unfortunately, things such as drug testing and follow up for the legitimacy of the need, is lacking. Entitlement programs are way out of hand. Our defninition of "poor" is very strange, at least for the majority of people in the system. Here is an interesting video

Not to hijack, but interesting related thread that I read yesterday... http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1218014_Let_me_give_you_some_insight_into_ghetto_culture___lengthy_read.html

I think it is very lacking. Work comp requires drug testing, technically work comp is voluntary. If your injured you have the right to use your insurance so you can see your own doctor or you can elect to use the work comp insurance and see their doctor. If you choose the later you consent to drug testing for the purpose of determining eligibility. I think the same should stand for government assistance programs. If you elect to use them then you also elect to have a county inspector survey your property and other assets, take drug tests, and provide monthly financial records to your local government for the purpose of preventing fraud. Not to mention it all needs to be done randomly. I do not see this as a violation of someones rights. If you don't want them to take a peak at your assets, do drug testing, or pull your financial records then don't elect to use these tax payer funded services.

Oh I hear you. It is the same way here. The state is putting people back to work by "improving" the roads. However their improvements are widening existing roads. They aren't fixing the pots holes, warpage, or the well traveled highways and interstates that have buckled though. I am all for putting people back to work but lets use that dollar more responsibly. However it seems no one in my state gives two hoots about this, they are all worried about our "racist" republican congressman. Since he said he wants to trim the budgets by providing ballots only in English half the state is in an uproar. Personally I am for it.

my mother inlaw came here from Japan in the mid 50's. she taught herself how to speak english and became a naturalized cititzen of this country. she put becoming a citizen ahead of most everythig else. she just felt that if she was going to be here she neede to learn what it was all about. of course in the 50's everything was in english anyway. it was either sink or swim. that is the way it should be now. if you can vote in this country you should be able to read the language.

You know... #1 Craigslist is an amazing place! You could always advertise her truck at your work and have people show up to buy it..Then you can tell her "Looks like you have can have money now to buy food if you sell a truck!"Option #2 get an Escort Service to show up at her house for her husband and at the same time have flowers sent to her..She will be mad he is spending money and when she gets home the escort will be there!Option #3 3/8" chain......park perpendicular to her hummer. Put blanket over cab of hummer as not to scratch Hummer. Put chain over hummer and attatch to opposite side from front bumper. Hook onto frame. Back up only after putting into low lock and hooking onto front of your truck. Roll Hummer over...
