Got some more progress done today. Started at 6:30 this morning and came in about 6:30 this evening, I'm beat!Got some 1/2" dowels and ground the end off to a little point and jabbed them in the tappets, also used small hose clamps/ zip ties to be safe. Dropped the cam holder into the oil pan right off the bat, but was able to recover it with my tiny pen magnet and Jesus on my shoulderI worked about 2 hrs scraping the old seal off the block and using my shop vac simultaneously so no junk fell in the pan. Got the p- pump gear housing on and put the cam back inGot my rockers and push rods put back in, in the same spot they came out. Got the 12v tappet cover on with new sealing washers, also pulled the stock lift pump and put a big block Chevy fuel block off plate over the whole that the stock lp covered.Got the cover put on so no elements get to the insides while I wait on parts

Hope you like yours better than I liked mine, I had my 01 around 650 hp for 4 years and loved it, popped the engine being a dumbass kid, converted to a p-pump when I built the engine. I liked the p-pump so much I now drive a ford. It made great top end power but everything else really suffered though.

Have to pull the cam to get the gear housing that the pump mounts to off. You have to use a 12v housing because the mounting bolts are different between the vp and p7100. I would love to have got a new performance cam but it just was not in the cards now. I'm sure it will smoke more than I want but my vp did that too.

I'm still waiting on fuel lines, my fass and the oil feed line and fittings. I want to give a big thanks to Eric at Vulcan for helping me on his own time today, I have not spent money with him in months an he has helped me more than other folks that have my money right now.

More details ? Guessing you mean smoke and fuel mileage ?

low end grunt, like straight out of the floor grunt where you can put it in gear and let the clutch out was gone, I hate smoke so I spent weeks tuning the afc to get it clean which made it laggy, mileage with the vp on the highway was never under 18 usually closer to 20, p7100 never got better than 15, egt's became hard to control, it was a monster when my foot was on the floor, and a turd the rest of the time. I blame most of it on the static timing, it makes everything a comprimise. It did make 560/1198 with a little 62mm turbo, so like I said it ran good full tilt. It just wasn't fun to drive anymore and pulling a trailer was a nightmare. I've still got the engine, no idea what I'll do with it though.
