Hey guys, I wanted to give you a heads up that we have created a Part Number Lookup tool in the new Articles. https://mopar1973man.com/cummins/articles.html/4th-generation/part-number-lookup-tool-4th-gen/ You can find a couple of different years and configurations in the above link. You can open up the year / model needed and use the drop down menu to jump around or use the bookmarks tool on the main page to jump around. We will add more documents as we get them, but most parts should span the years we have.

Hi guys, I'm looking for recommendations but I've got some specifics I'm looking for. I have a 2016 2500, 6.7, 68rfe with 3.42 gears. I'm not looking for high HP tunes. I'm looking for high quality tunes, increased mpg when empty(post injection needs to go!) and trans programming for when I am towing. And I have one specific thing I want done, if possible. I want the current gear displayed in drive automatically. I have reached out to two different reputable companies and they both said it's done with alfaobd, but that seems to be only true with a 2019+(yes there were informed it's a 2016 upfront) anyone have this done through tuning or alfaobd? This is my first 4th…

Has anyone opened up the turbo actuator to see what failed? Some have core charges so maybe there is an easy fix.

So I want a 4th gen.. but I want a deleted one & the ability to freely travel. Should I just get a early 4th gen and weld off the cooler ends and keep it on so if I get pulled over I still have it installed? / stock exaughst / knock out the cat? The only other thing on my mind is get another 3rd gen and stuff a 4th gen 6.7 or 5th gen 6.7 engine/ ECM into it. I did hear the CMB is the best for tuning/ racing, but the 4th gen trucks look so clean just letting the computer control the fueling. ( what I'm after entirely actually ) And a 48re setup. Would be cool to have a 500hp + truck that's just doesn't even give off a littl…

My nephew bought a 2013 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4 a month ago, that was already DEF and DPF deleted. We are assuming that the EGR might be deleted with block off plates, but the EGR pipe is still on it, we just haven't had time to remove it to check for sure. He's getting U010C and U010E popping up, but no driveability issues whatsoever. He has normal power and boost conditions. U010C is lost communication with the turbocharger control module, which could be the turbo actuator. U010E is lost communication with the reductant control module, but I figured it's because it's been deleted. What is the best tuner for him to buy that would help him out since he's …

Why make the conversion from steering column shifter to console shifter? Good question. The only two trucks that I have driven with a 68RFE 6spd automatic transmission are a Cummins powered 2011 Ram 2500 and a 2018 Cummins powered Ram 2500. Both were driven hauling a gross combined weight of over 20,000 lbs each. Both trucks were quite capable. My experience with the 2018 truck was in the summer of 2021. However, my focus will be with the most recent trips (August and October of 2023) in which I was driving the 2011 truck. The 2011 Cummins powered Ram 2500 is owned by my neighbor Jim. He is the original owner. Until this time, he has never hauled heav…

I'm trying to help my friends son figure out an issue with his truck. It's a 2018 Ram 2500 with a 6.7/Auto, it's lifted with I think 37" tires. He had the truck deleted over a year ago and has EFI live tuning and the knob on the dash to switch tunes. The truck has about 90k miles on it currently and has stock turbo/injectors/intake. He just took a job in Montana and drove straight there, about 14 hours I think he said and had to fight a pretty nasty headwind most of the way. The next day and every day since when he starts the truck in the morning it idles really rough and makes a lot of black smoke. It will clear up and smooth out after a little bit and run fine th…

I'm in process of fixing this truck for shift issue. Here is the toys. Updated valve body and electrics going into this truck. Valve body out. Little tricky getting the plug unhooked. The shift linkage interferes slightly. Now I need to steal all the solenoid screws from the OE valve body and bolt up the new electrics to the upgraded valve body.

The project starts as soon as I feel like braving the weather. Main point is to prevent the OEM grid heat nut from finding it's way into cylinder 6. I am not a huge Banks guy but the parts look well made and everything I need is here. Huge thanks to @dieselautopower for the parts!

My Father-in-law got a 2017 Dodge Hemi truck and it 3/4 ton. It looks like the previous owner hit a gooseneck hitch in the corner passenger side. Let me know if anyone has a tailgate white hopefully.

Kicking around a bit more seriously now on a picking up a 2018 3500 CCSB truck from a used dealer near me. Its not in the best of shape cosmetically but I think I can fix most of the problems as a trade off for a low mile truck (55K) at a semi-reasonable price (<$40K) in todays market for Cummins trucks. One owner, fleet vehicle with a clear car fax. Low end trim but its got a few nice options - tow package etc. This has been sitting on a lot and the price has been dropped a bunch. I'm not swimming in dough but I'm looking for a newer 1 ton. Anyone think this is a semi-decent deal given the market? Link to rig here --> https://www.megaautosaleswa.com/details/used-…

Well we have hit 60,000 miles in the 4th gen. Replaced the oil and fuel filters. I have on order from @dieselautopower the Banks big horn intake elbow / grid delete plate. This will prevent the grid heater bolt from falling into the motor if the bolt fails does fail. Not typically a fan on Banks due to $$$, but their design allows me to not need a tune and it looks well done so it is what it is. The OEM grid heater is replaced with an ford 7.3 / duramax 6.6 Intake air heater in the elbow. It draws less amps and work work as well as stock, but if it isn't good enough I will just weld in a 2nd heater and daisy chain. also need to get some s…

All - considering purchasing a low mile 2018 3500 and the build sheet shows a 3:42 axle ratio. Anyone know if this was the default ratio? Imagine it was. I notice 2019+ models appear to have 3:73 gears with an option for 4:10s.

I wanted to start this thread so that I could finish it when I get home from work. I am having some issues with my 2013 ram 2500 and need some insight. A couple of months ago I noticed that on a cold start the truck would blow grey smoke and my exhaust brake would work periodically. I wrote it off as a stuck injector and put some diesel treat in and the grey smoke went away. Every so often the exhaust brake would act up but it wasn't anything major nor did it throw any codes. Just recently maybe 4 weeks ago I got a code. I don't remember the exact code but I do remember some of the problems it said it could be. Low battery voltage, bad wiring in the CAM/CAN BUS, and somet…

I'm helping my son in law install a Fass pump on a 18 mega cab dually. Where it says to install is not possible, maybe on a single wheel. The leaf spring is mounted where they say remove bed bolt. Anyone dealt with this problem? Im about to drill the frame but he asked me to post for him.

My son in law is changing antifreeze and wants to replace the T-stat on his 2018 3500, the only problem is Dodge wants 250.00 plus for a new one. Anyone have any part numbers to get around Dodge? I looked on Cummins and all I get is 2nd and 3rd gen.

My neighbor has a 2011 Dodge Cummins truck. I would like to perform battery load tests using the starter for the electrical load. Is there a way to easily disable the engine from starting so I can perform the test? Has anyone done this test using their truck? - John

Well I got a real winner. My customer owns a 2014 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins. She was having issues with the clutch slipping and the rear main seal is leaking. I will warn that the DEF tank is part of the cross member / skid plate. Ok. Leave it installed get the transfer case I'm glad I work on the floor I had to flip that transfer case in such a manner to get it out of the little hole I had. Whew! Past that issue. Not trying ot unplug wire and separate the wires from the transmission and cross member. Another PITA. Whew! Got past that one. Now get the transmission down and out after prying it out of the clutch yeah seriously. Trans is down and now for the clutch not to bad bu…
