My other truck is a 92. Sweet reliable truck but each time I order a new drain plug from Genos they send me an 18 mm thread size. Then when I go to change the oil the new drain plug is too large to fit in the pan. Does anyone know where I can get the correct size? If so, what size is it? I must say that Genos is the best in trying to help as they sent the second plug free. Oh well if anyone needs a new drain plug I have three of them extra that fit my 2002 second gen not the 1st gen.

Newbie just found the site, any ideas. Thanks Lost MPG after VE injector pump rebuild. I’ve had good experiences at NTG Racing up till now. Time to rebuild the injector pump so I took it to NTG Racing, it was leaking bad. I just ask for good mileage and no performance up grades. I was hoping that it might improve my MPG of 16. They sent the pump out to Omega for the rebuild. Got the truck back it seemed OK until I filled the tank and checked the mileage. Holy crap 12 MPG. I have never got that bad a mileage before. It was always around 16 MPG . Well took it back so they could figure it out. They gave it back to me after some adjustments to drive, wow now I could w…

Had it looked at 4 times, thrown some parts at it w/ rebalanced rear driveline, replaced front calipers, turned front disks, new pads and shoes, something replaced on the front differential (both sides under some kind of plastic caps with 4 bolts on each one). Just got it looked at again and found idler arm play with up down movement when you wiggle the steering back and forth. Am I on the right track with this? Whole truck starts shaking on its own at high speeds and goes away when I touch the brakes and then comes back again on its own. Thanks to you all for making this a great place to enjoy reading worth while things.

Last week I got a rebuilt caliper for my son in laws Honda car. Problem was the chip or chisel like mark right where the brake line sealing washer goes. Every time we bleed that one it was squirting brake fluid. Took it back. Next I went to change my master cylinder on my 1st gen again because it was a recent rebuild and the top kept leaking. But when I pulled the top off the newer one today, to bench bleed, it has a big chip out of the casting where the cap contacts the body. It even looked a bit like it was hit with a hammer on top. So dealing with rebuilds you want to look at all the surfaces that mate up to other parts before leaving the store.

Picked up a short 12 valve. 4BT when they pulled the motor they took the valve covers off and then cut out some of the front of the aluminum bodied bread truck and got shaving on the valve train. a lot of it blew off on the 50 mile trip home. I have cleaned the motor and blew off as much as possible and have put the valve covers back on. I have never run the motor and plan to fire it up and they drain the oil and replace it. any other suggestion or better ideas. before the install into my 53 Chevy. I want to do the KDP, adj. the valves, New crank seal and install my new to me NV4500 trans chevy bell housing. thanks guys. I here all this talk of KBS but my motor does not h…

I have owned a 1992 dodge Cummins, auto, 4:10 ratio cab and chassis since new. Did not know about this type forum in those days. My son still owns the truck and uses it in construction. Has 10 ft flat bed. Average milage is 15 mpg hwy empty at 8,000lbs. 10 mpg at 21,000 loaded pulling loaded trailer. ( no weight police please) Just a dog on take off but will produce power on a dyno at full throttle. I had purchased several dodges for a fleet I managed and was happy with their fuel milage. 19-20 mpg with heavy service bodys and variable traffic conditions. Dodge and cummins worked on it when new and adjusted the timing. It just acted like it may be a tooth off on the cam ge…

3/4 ton 92 Dodge Cummins 4x4 has new calipers, shoes, pads and new Master cylinder and all new fluid. Even though I have bled all 4 wheels 3 times the pedal still goes down 2/3rds of the way before the brakes work. When I pump the pedal several times the anti lock light goes out and brakes work beautiful. I've had this problem for a long time with two brake shops bleeding the jeepers out of them. Now with all new, I still couldn't figure it out. Any thoughts? Thanks a bunch everyone. BTW, Try getting a donation to Mike for the forum everyone it's running lean right now. This is a great site don't want to loose it..

It's been siting for 2-3 years. Does it get the dirt settled out of it enough to pour off the top clean layer and mix with the fuel in my 12 valve? Thank you for all thoughts.

I have a friend that has a 92 12v, 4x4 Cummins standard cab with 5spd that is considering selling his truck. He has 150k on the clock and it has the original injectors and pump. It is a 3/4 ton model. It has had the front end rebuilt and has 4 new tires with a fresh alignment. The running gear seems to be in top shape and the body is straight. The plastic inside is crappy looking from the classical UV damage. The headliner is coming loose in several places and the paint on the cab roof is peeling in several spots. Everything things seems to work. It has an electric winch on the front. He asked me what I thought it could go for and I don't really have …

Hey guys, this is my first post, but I have been searching and reading this forum for a few years now. I acquired a 92 dodge (see sig below) cheap because it wouldn't charge. I replaced the alternator and PCM. Then replaced the ducks foot with maxi fuses etc. in that order. My question is: after I replaced the PCM, the PCM would continue to hum after the key was turned off. After I rewired everything today, the PCM continues to hum with the key off. If I pull the neg battery terminal it stops obviously. If I pull the 30A fuse for Circuit A14 the hum will stop. It takes me cycling the key to get it to start humming again. It doesn't seem to time out. Is this normal?…

Wow, first time ever for this. Truck has been reliable for years. Always consistently started right up with just a touch of the key, cold or not. Now, suddenly one moring I go to start it up, it started for a few seconds then died. Tried it again, same thing. Tried it again, gave it some pedal then it started & ran fine afterwards. Good power idles fine. Issue only occurs when attempting to start. Seems it will only start if I pump the accelerator pedal while cranking. My first thought is fuel filter? Just picked one up yeterday, will try to install Saturday. Finally supposed to warm up here in NJ! Any tips or advice greatly appreciated. Than…

When ambient temps are around 30 my 92 just comes alive with power. It's amazing .Most other times it's a real slow dog. What could be wrong? There's no intake leaks either. It's gotten so bad on warm days I have to wait till traffic's clear for a whole mile otherwise it's like cuttin' in front of someone:duh:
