  5. Just got back from a 1000 mile round trip with a friend and his 2011 C&C. I have to say that the only downside to this truck is the fuel milage, but what can you expect from a smogged 4 x 4 truck weighing 11k with 4.88 gears. The transmission and EB are the cat's azz when pulling a trailer. Went to Ohio with a 14k GN to pick up a tractor. Coming back the trailer was just a tad over 13k. The trip up was uneventful 12.6 mpg @ 68mph 10.8 @75mph. The Lie o meter was dead on the money vs. hand calculation +/- .1 each fill up. The trip back was smooth as well but 7.6 -7.9 mpg running 5 over the limit. Jellico was a good pull at a steady 60mph, there was more to be had but w…

I am starting to dig into the Mode 22 PIDs that exist. on the databus using a obdlink mx and torque pro / tera term to ask for data. First thing I want to figure out is how to read DEF quality. Scan gauge says it is there. PID is supposed to be A1E2 Data return for DEF quality is located at D in the data string so there should be something at A,B,C and maybe beyond D. typical -0100% sensors report as just the data item in hex. The others I am looking at are I know these all report back values, just no idea what they are yet. :unknown 1,:unknown 1,229000,A,0,1000000,,Auto :unknown 2,:unknown 2,229001,A,0,1000000,,Auto…

  7. This article covers the steps needed to use an obdlinkmx or similar to pass info to an application like Torque Pro on your cell phone for gauges. It will allow you to add more sensors than Ram Publishes for Free. Big Props to Nova3930 on Cumminsforum for getting the list going. Update 8/22/18 Added MPG for stock injector trucks : mpg Beta items are not working yet. PID mode 21 that I need to fig into 09 0A99 at idle PID's on Mode 22 that I need to dig through, 9000 00 at idle 1 byte return 9001 00 at idle 1 byte retur 9E00 FFFC at idle 2 byte return 9E01 FFFF at idle 2 byte return A000 01 …

ISO company that makes the top dead center piece for inner fender well liners. Or whole new linner. Ram in their infinite wisdom left that piece out in their 18 dually. Have contacted them, and I can get from the little girls that answer the phones and emails is sorry but unfortunately... TIA.

So the bosses personal Wrecker developed an issue. The drivers headlight came on after we changed seats in his 5500. We have to pull the cables to keep the truck from killing the batteries. The mechanic says BCM which is integrated into the cluster. I've dug a little online and found a few articles about the TIPM being the issue. Before they load the parts cannon, I'd love to do some of my own diagnostics. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey guys, so a few months ago I was towing the bass boat to the lake and the temp started shooting up on my Cummins (230-240degrees) and then lowering back down. So I immediately replaced the thermostat and no issues for a little while. This past weekend I was on my way back from a road trip with the family and it started doing it again about 10 miles from the house so I just nursed it home and let it cool off. I did some research and thought it might be the electric Fan Clutch, so I replaced that little PITA and took it for a test drive and low and behold it started doing the exact same thing. This is a 2010 Mega Cab Laramie 2500 6.7, deleted and tuned using a H&S mi…

So I’ve been driving my dads truck for a while and I’ve noticed in the morning at first start up the truck will surge a bit under very light throttle. Like only enough throttle to get the trucks moving you can hear it. Let it coast, nothing. Get a little more on the throttle, nothing. Only lasts a 1/4-1/2 mile or so. Doesn't seem like there’s neccesarily anything wrong, just wondering if anyone knows what it could be?

hello everyone, looking for information that can help me make a decision on new rig. Being a 798 pipeline welder I travel from top to bottom, coast to coast of this great county of ours looking at a new ram dually with the I6 and Aisin tranny.Seems all that is available in the 18 models the 4:10 gears. Now after reading all the info that i can find, I have yet to find anything that will give an idea of the truck will ride down the road at 70 with just my welding machine and tools loaded up, about 2k lbs id say. towing a 10k trailer from job to job should be a breeze. But Is the rpms just gonna be screaming? I cant help but think that somewhere there has to be a chart/gra…

  14. I'm wiring up a separate Balmar MC-614 regulator for the second (270A) alternator I have installed. The system is completely independent of the truck and feeds via 2 x 1/0 cables through the bed to a connector to my RV. Looking for an ignition source to wire pin #3 on the regulator to, so that it becomes live when the truck is turned on - not sure of the fuse box setup. 1. Is there anything easily accessible in the cab or do I need to run a new wire from the fuse box? Thoughts appreciated

Hello Anyone have any issues with the heater fan inside the cab not working? Mine died. I replaced the resister/relay under the glove box and it still doesn't work. I also took the blower motor out and attached 12v and it spins great. The fuse also looks good. Help?

  16. Does anybody know the type of mount for the second alternator on the cummins engine? Is it "Pad Mount" (like the big trucks) or "Swivel Mount" (adjustable bracket) The reason I'm asking is I've found a 200A Alternator with inbuilt regulator here https://www.diamond-gard.com/a200 It gives high output of 130A at only 800 RPM, and I'm trying to assess if it will fit. I'm avoiding the RAM OEM as it doesn't have a regulator and fitting it after market would require a lot of extra wiring. The other details of the project can be found here: I called Mitsubishi and sent pics of the mount and it is hinge mount. …

  17. Does anybody have experience where two 1/0 high amperage cables should be run safely under a 2015 ram3500 dually megacab? I want to provide two output sockets in the rear bed next to the 7 pin trailer wire and it will require up to 25’ of cable from the alternator. This is a follow on from my two earlier posts. I found a 270A alternator which is the same frame as the OEM Mopar. It has original Denso parts built by a specialty outfit in FL. The idle output is 200 Amps and peak is 270A. The external viltage regultor is from the marine industry and the two places have worked together before. There is also current limiting on the regulator gauge which…

Ok I know I haven't been around for a while! Anyways, recently bought 12 Ram 2500 6.7 HO 4x4, mileage 281,000! I know the truck personally and good friends with the guy I bought it from. Was driving down the road the other day about 65mph and it started acting like it didn't wanna go, Pulled in grabbed a bite to eat, get back in and it was little hard starting, and kinda sluggish in o/d. Get back to the shop and decided to replace the fuel filter, now it wasn't dirty and kinda slow to fill back up, so replaced intank lift pump have good fuel pressure and flow to filter. Truck will try to hit once and that's it, accidently cleared the codes but do remember that it said som…

  20. I’m wanting to install a second alternator in my 6.7 liter, 3500 dually megacab and looking for tips on alternator type, whether to install it standalone, and the cable path for two high ampacity 1/0 cables. I tow a big 42’ 5th wheel with an extra, dual hitch 10’ trailer behind the RV, with self turning trailer wheels (Idaho tote). On the tote is an electric golf cart, 12’6” zodiac type inflatable boat with outboard, and bicycles. We are experienced RVers with 70,000 miles and 42 states under our belts. I plan to use the six additional matched golf cart batteries tied to the four identical batteries in front to make a total of ten house batteries w…
