I have noticed this build up of oil that must be slow seeping out of the connection. Is this normal wear or is it a sign of problems internally? Can I tighten it or do I need to solve another problem first? I dont get blowby from oil cap when removed but it vibrates off slowly. Also do these 5.9's have a filter in here or anything that needs cleaned or maintenance? Any help with allow me to sleep easier . First pic is upside down.Thanks!2007 5.9 92,000 miles auto stock

I recently installed an Airdog FP-100 on my 2004.5 CTD. Right afterward I started noticing a rattle or knock around the 1300 to 1800 rpm range. It goes away when under under load. Any suggestions?

so after having my truck servised 3 weeks ago, getting ready for a week long vaca to Colorado, i got new brakes and rotated tires. everyting else check out good. yesterday i was driving next to a rather quiet car and head a grinding noise, i'm thinking wow Mr. you need to get your car looked at, then today, driving next to a guard rail. i hear this grinding noise, i'm headed for home. i take my rear tires off looking for the noise maker and find. after removinfg the brakes and doing further inspection i get needless to say, i'll never trust another soul to work on my truck. i usually do 98% of the work myself, i was booked up and had no time, so i paid someone e…

Does anyone have an 03 auto with the manually controlled high idle that works off the cruise control? I hooked my smarty up to my brothers 03 and noticed it didnt work. Ive been trying to do some research on it but its all different results:shrug:. Some thing I read said that it wont work on the 03-04s but I have an early 04 built in 03 and it works on that.

So driving home tonight from work my engine light came on the truck started to loose power and running really rough. After the wife came with my Smarty I checked and cleared the codes then it continued to run like crap then I noticed my EGT's were 1200 just driving 30 mph plus you can see smoke pouring out the rear. Anyways i pulled over tuned the truck back to stock then it ran fine not one problem. When I got home reprogrammed it back to where it was when the problems started drove it around no problems. So should I have it checked out to be safe or do you think it was the programmer? The 0203 code is for the number 3 injector wire circuit and the 2146 is the cylinder b…

I've been bouncing the idea of gutting my Catalytic convertor around in my head for awhile. The theory is to increase exhaust flow obviously, but I've been reading all sorts of conflicting theories. Anyone have any experience with this? Pro's/Cons??

Truck runs fine for about 20 miles, 70mph, 2200rpm air on/off no difference. Coolant temp normal, oil pressure normal. Injectors testing good, no oil or coolant consumption/loss. No boost leaks with soap test. Truck does not smoke at start and only light black smoke when getting into it. After around 20 miles at highway speed all the sudden a trail of white/blue smoke from exhaust and the truck runs normal. I can make it stop by letting off the throttle or pushing it harder, but smoke returns after pedal is returned to normal cruise. After I exit the highway it quits smoking at speed less than 60. I'm about to drop a grenade down the intake...

Quite a few OFE users on here so...I had a CON-OFE put in last spring and ever since the install I have a really hard time getting the trans into 1st or 2nd, unless I go 3-2 or 4-1. If I come to a stop and leave the clutch in I can shift no problem, but as soon as I release the clutch and then engage it to shift I can't get into 2nd. It's worst when warm, when cold it shifts fine. I talked to SBC and they think my OEM hydraulics are shot, but I don't want to test that theory with the $315 SBC hydraulics to find it didn't fix it.Fluid is Amsoil MTF, replaced since the clutch install with no change. Any thoughts?

So does anyone know what the map is for the HE351cw turbo? The reason for asking is I'm able to push this turbo to about 50psi with 100hp injectors on a 2nd gen truck. I currently have the waist gate set at 45psi and I know at WOT I can hit almost 50psi.

This is my first winter since I have been running SW3 exclusively, but don't want my normal setting for snow/ice.. so here is what I am going to try. SW3 TM2 TQ1 PoD 70.. it should still have plenty of go-juice if I need it, but less low end (mainly weaker throttle response) for more traction from a stop.

After a 3 year long of not running... Stuffed in a new Valair quiet towing dual disc clutch and a set of +50HP injectors. It runs! It's been so long since I last drove it that it was like a all new experience. No real smoke at all. Remember there is no tuner just the +50HP injectors and stock ECM. I rolled out 18.2 MPG on the way home at least on the overhead display. I need to set up my app for this truck and start monitoring the actual MPG which might be a bit better being this does have oversized tires (33 inch). Ratio is wrong and runs on the hot side climbing grades. Oh yeah I found out that 2006 and up are chipped keys. Man talk about expensive to have…

OK guys, I've put about 250 miles on Mighty Whitey since the install. Here's what I've noticed/liked so far:1. Truck definitely takes bumps in the road better on the front axle. Less "jumpy" it seems.2. Because of #1, steering is much crisper and more responsive. Tires staying on the road??3. This one is a bit suggestive, but I swear I'm seeing less boost at speed than prior. When driving now, the hubs just get warm. The weather has cooled down considerably since we installed these hubs.........................not like them being borderline hot driving home after the install because it's 102-104* out and we left the tires outside baking in the sun before re-installing…

My search of the site may have missed this topic, so if it's elsewhere, please point me in that direction. My situation is this. I have an 04 Ram 2500 4x4, 5.9 auto tranny with 170k on it. From what I can tell it's a stock truck, no extra tuning, or significant upgrades. I use it to carry around my pop-up, slide-in camper, which when loaded, is probably at 1800#. I'm pretty religious on keeping the "wear" items" (brakes, fluids, alignment . . . ) maintained. My issue is; twice now I've had the brakes over heat on steep grades. Once was while in the back country of BC (logging roads) the most recent, in the mountains of Baja (San Pedro Martir). In both cases the …
