OK I know this can be done but I don't want to fry anything, so I am asking for help from others that are more knowledgeable than I. I have a set of KC HID lights that my nephew gave me. They are bright as noon day sun. My problem is that they are setup for 24 volts for a HMMWV. Can I get 24 volts to these lights out of my 2 batteries already on the truck? What kind of diode (is that what I need?) will I need to get 24 volts without backfeeding 24 volts into the trucks 12 volt system. If I need to I could add another battery to make a 24 volt system separate from the 12 volt system. If I do that how do I wire in the extra battery so I can charge it but again n…

So I finally got around to doing some maintenance like oil change, fuel filter, etc. on my 2 week old new-used truck. The owners manual says to grease some fittings where the front drive haft connects to the transfer case but I can not find any fittings there. It is very possible that there are some aftermarket parts on this truck - the transfer case looks brand new compared to everything else under there. Does anyone know if on the stock 2006 2500 4x4 there really are grease fittings at the u-joint in the location shown in the owners manual? I am just trying to figure out what all is stock on this truck and what is aftermarket.thanks,Scott

Pulled my air filter out today to look at adding a winter air inlet and WOW! It looks like it would severely hinder flow, but nope. On several WOT runs in 5th gear I am not sucking the filter minder down and the SGII only shows a .2psia drop at the intake. That's a quality filter, considering how much more air than stock I am moving. The filter has about 8,500 miles on it. UOA is coming in a month or so (7,500 miles) so we shall see if the silicon is where it was with the lower flowing Amsoil.

Is this procedure good for my truck, 03 Dodge Cummins? I am getting P0123 in the PCM and is in limp mode. For awhile after warmed up would drive ok. Was shifting in all gears, then it stayed in limp mode and local mechanic grounded the trans relay in the fuse box, then it shifts but no OD Now stays in limp mode when not grounded in fuse box. Replaced APPS with TIMBO's APPS at http://www.dodgecumminsapps.com/index.html, Made no difference.

For years I have been thinking I should have a can of ether in the truck just because. I have never had a starting issue, but spend a lot of time off the beaten path in the truck. I had never done it, and was talking to my dad about it (he has an 06) and he told me a story from back in the late 80's. He had a '84 6.2 burb, and they were 70 miles from pavement hunting it the glow plugs went out, wouldn't start. He towed it behind another rig on 70 miles of forest service roads to town, one small shot of ether and he was up and running. He was so pissed that he has always had a can of ether in his diesel trucks, and has never needed it again..Well, for $2.99 I couldn't argu…

There are a few who look at doing different intake systems on 3rd gens and the best for stock to moderately modified 3rd gens is still the OEM air box with an extra deep pleated filter and the cold air mod to the bottom of the box. I also have a PSM cool hose between the box and the turbo to eliminate the baffled thing the OEM used. Filter I am using is a Wix part # 49946. With the stock depth filter it would pull the restriction gauge up about half way on a brand new filter during normal daily driving, with the extra deep filter the surface area to pull air through is greatly increased and over the years running the extra deep filter have never seen my restriction gauge…

i now know why every ones loves rowing gears. my 6.7 pulls SO much harder then my 04. now my 04 is no slouch. it'll embarrass some popular sports cars. but this 6.7 w/G56 is a beast. the turbo spools later then i'd like but it amazing to hook up the flat bed and tractor and chug up a hill. awesome. awesome awesome.

I have been toying with the idea of dropping the front of my truck for a while now. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a 1" spacer from Top Gun Customz this morning. I'll probably install it in the next few weeks when I do a diff/trans/xcase fluid change. I like the 2" level for 2 big reasons, oil pan clearance and a lower tailgate lip. I don't like the 2" when loaded because it takes more air in the bags that I need to keep the level stance, 15 psi this past weekend was barely enough and I had maybe 1200 lbs of cargo/tongue weight, where if the front were 1" lower I could get by with 5-10 psi in the bags. I also don't like how the front axle is off center, and don'…

so tractor supply has a http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/traveller-diesel-engine-oil-sae-30-2-gal straight 30wt oil.. would there be hard in running this? i use 15/40 most of the time and don't really see the need for the 5/40 as i plug my truck in in the cold. i'd be running it in most of my engines as well. most call for a 10/30-15/40 i'm looking to stock pile some oil before the new oil spec takes affect. i'll be getting 5 and 55 gallon drums of 15/40 and maybe some of this 30wt oil. thoughts.

This truck ran perfect yesterday and will not start at all. It cranks fine and I replaced the lift pump and fuel filter. There is no smoke at all and it just acts like it is not getting any fuel. It ran like a dream when it was parked and the next day it wont fire at all. I tightened all grounds and cleaned both sets of battery cable ends. i am at my wits end with this truck, i have owned it for less than a month and am not having a very good first experience with the great cummins engine. it is giving 4 codes.p2509p0462p0463p0516

Hay guys first time posting so I hope I’m doing it right anyways I have a 2005 2500 5.9 Cummins I purchased a few months back truck is extremely clean and all stock it had 169k on it and has a lot of service records with it currently has 172k on it anyway my problem was it was smoking bad when taking off from a stop and had injector tick. so I installed a brand new set of Bosch injectors not remanufactured thay are brand new and brand new Bosch connecting tubes and adjusted the valves that fixed the injector tick but still smokes not as bad but I can still see it at night in the headlights of cars behind me it’s worse when pulling a loaded trailer it’s stock except 4” e…

Recently had a customer come in. Said they had a diagnosis needing Injectors. Replaced Injectors, and came up with a fuel delivery error p0148. Replaced fuel rail pressure sensor, pump in tank. Ran some fuel pressure override tests and went from good pressure to 0%. After an injection pump replacement, it ran great. Ran for about 15 miles and the code came back, and it completely shut off and had no pressure at all. Couldn’t pull its weight back to the shop, and would die going uphill again. Any ideas? Bad pump?

Looks like its all in the computer, huh? I was hoping for a disconnected vacuum line like I'm used to :)I have an ABS light on, so I'm guessing there's a dead wheel speed sensor somewhere. I'd like an easy way to find them but I don't have a drb, and Smarty Jr & Edge Insight don't read ABS codes. Is there another software tool that anyone knows of that I could use with a serial OBD II cable?I need to get the truck inspected soon, I'll see if my shop has anything but they're not big enough to waste $ on a DRB.

Hello I have done what I new be thought to do and got rid of my 1999 5.9 for a 2009 6.7 now with that being said the truck has 110,000 miles and is an automatic 4wd the truck is plain stock has the egr and dpf on it. I plan on leaving for a trip to Colorado next week and will not delete the truck more then likely till I'm back due to already gonna spend a good amount on trip. My question is what is reccomended to do to the truck the mean time. The truck does get a bad bounce at 60mph+ but the tires are balled so I'm guessing it is that the dealership is replacing the tie-rods and track bar. Sorry for the long message but would really appreciate some help on this new truck

Sunday/yesterday, I drove down to Effingham, IL to meet the owner of the _____/female dog I bred my Lab to. I left my house Sat. afternoon and drove to the P's to visit and spend the night. Their house is along the route I was taking. I left Sunday AM about 4:30AM to meet Doug at about 8:00AM in Effingham. I left the P's with just over 200 miles on the tank of fuel. It was just over 200 miles to Effingham one way, so it was about 400+ or so round trip back to the P's. And then after a quick 2 hour layover there, another 65 miles or so to the fuel station where I fueled up near my house. This tank got me 684.5 miles. I filled up/stuffed it with 32.24 gallons of fuel. Tha…
