Hello,So it may be time soon to replace my 180K stock clutch. I just replaced master and slave hydraulics. This is on a 03 2500 with NV5600. I have been looking at SB as my replacement. Here is a question from those that have run them and what they experienced. I tow about 10k - 19K during the summer with a dump trailer, hauling large 8x4 hay bales and equipment. The stock as done just fine during all this hauling but I dont try to drive it like it was not loaded either. The rest of the year/winter, I use it as a daily driver to work and back home. Wife drives the rig so I need something that is not hard on the knee or engages aggressively either. Want to still drive off …

Well, lost 2nd gear on stock trans at 70,000 miles. Put in new Jasper with triple disc converter, got 5 miles, hit slight upgrade and got a bad shudder as driving on the bumps on the side of the road, never had this issue on the stock trans. They replace the trans, same problem, replaced both u-joints, same problem, they said they couldn't figure it out and good bye. Drove another 1,000 plus and found code for overdrive and converter slip. Replaced and installed #3 trans, still shudders. Had a Dodge dealer check out the truck while #2 was in and they couldn't find anything wrong. With #3 in, test drove (put in 2nd, tow haul mode, exhaust brake on to lock converter) shudde…

What; if any, maintenance should I do on MightyWhitey at or around 200k?? Sitting at 196,1xx now, and have a few trips lined up for the near future. I did my normal yearly maintenance a month ago prior to my NoDak trip.I've NEVER done a...................valve lash adjustment, fully bled the power steering, coolant/water pump change, injector change, radiator hose change-out, and prolly some more that I cannot think of right now. She's running good and getting good mileage.:thumb1:What say y'all??!!

Stock lift pump runs for a minimum of 30 sec when key is turned to run without bumping starter. Noticed today after installing a new battery (passenger side was DEAD) that the lp runs faster but making noise like starting to cut out kinda like a ruff idling engine then after 15 20 seconds starts to smooth out. Is this a def sign lp is going out. Also taking a little longer to turn over then when I bought it. Thanks

I am still hunting around for ways to increase mpgs. I have unloaded my camper for the season and have my Leer canopy back on the truck. So I have decided to conduct another experiment by installing vortex generators on the canopy to see if I can gain any benefit.I use vortex generators on my plane to give me a lower stall speed and still maintain control of the airplane and keep it flying at lower speeds. The vortex generators create a turbulent air stream aft of the generators and that keeps the air attached to the wing at higher angles of attack (steeper pitch of the wing). The theory is that vortex generators on a truck canopy will create spiraling turbulent air that wil…

  7. On my way to elk camp I developed a whine from the engine. I presumed it was the vacuum pump failing and removed the belt to install my non-vacuum pump belt. While the belt was off I started the motor to verify the noise was belt driven, it wasn't, pointing to a gear noise. Due to my remote location I drove the truck 15 miles to camp, 45 miles closer than town. I shut the truck down and waited. Two days later I started the truck and the noise was present instantly and got much louder when the oil pressure came up, I have a real gauge. This further led me, and my mechanic, the believe it was the gear train. We decided I should have it towed, and my insurance cov…

I'm thinking of putting a fuel pressure gauge in my '06 to keep a eye on the lift pump pressure,I figured running a stock setup, fuel was probably the most critical to keep a eye on. I wasn't sure if a 30 psi gauge was enough, so looked i've been looking at some 60 psi ones, I'm interested in this one. http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/41042/10002/-1?parentProductId= Where is a good place to plumb this in , and will I need a 'T', or is there a blind plug somewhere I can tap? Thanks!

I have an 06 dually,Is there such a thing as a good filter "under 7 micron" that is not an after market setup. I plan on getting an after market, or better than stock filtration system down the road. Until then would like to protect my injectoin system as much as possible. Also will a stock in the tank pump work on an after market two filter setup?

  10. There is a common misconception that there are Bosch injector bodies available for the CR Cummins application made out of stainless steel. That is a myth. None of the Bosch injectors for this application are made of stainless steel. BBi INJECTOR Bodies have been offered in two different versions. The original body “look” of Big Bang Injectors had a darker exterior. Now they have a shinier look to them. Some say that they, along with injectors from elsewhere, are Stainless Steel. Fact is they are not made of Stainless Steel. The only difference between the first BBi Injectors and the new appearing Injectors is the coating that is used to prevent corrosion. They both have t…

Help!! So after work today I put new shocks on the truck, after I had finished I started it to take it for a test drive, and while talking to my brother the truck hiccuped then died. I tried to re start it but it will only crank over (with no codes). I then opened up the filter canister and it was dry. Also my truck doesn't have the canister mounted lift pump. It got dark too quick but tomorrow I will check to make sure that I didn't bump any wiring connections when installing the shocks, but other than that what are you guys thinking lift pump??Thanks for any help!

Well stay tuned folks, My best Bud has an 03 long box quad cab 4X4 4:10 gears with auto and 115K miles with edge EZ and no gauges, in the last couple months he was asking about an oil leak coming from the top of his valve cover, I told him to look at the breather and replace it, he did and it kept on and oil use was getting worse now and he thinks he has more blowby than usual, So with the lack of time for me to look and help him out his dad who has an 05 cummins just borrowed my trailer and hauled it to a diesel shop which prides themselves in Cummins, I know him personally and referred him up there versus a Dodge dealer which he took it to and they didn't even want to t…

[TABLE] [TR] [TD=width: 100%] Dirty Common Rail Injectors. There are many Cummins guys now days who have a concern about the particulates emitting out of the tailpipes of their Mighty Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesels. With all the scrutiny we all are under and emissions testing common throughout the USA. This is just a little discussion about common rail injectors and the myth that ALL larger aftermarket injectors are Dirty. While there are some CR injectors out there that ARE filthy dirty, not all fall into that category. Done correctly, a larger than stock injector can offer much better flow efficiently AND remain clean. On the real serious higher ou…

Does anyone know if the ECM can reset itself or must that be done by a person? I recently took my 08 Dodge 3500 in with a turbo code P2579. The dealership read the code and said it needed a new turbo. Luckily I still have about a month left on my aftermarket warranty. However, when the warranty inspector showed up he said he could find no DTC and the CEL was off so no new turbo. This sounded fishy to me so when I picked it up from the dealership I plugged my reader in and got these to values " time since DTC cleared" = 12 minutes and " miles since DTC cleared" = 6 miles (inspector took if for a test drive). Seems to me that either the dealership inadvertently erased the c…

I am considering going to 19.5s on my 3rd gen 3500 4x4. Looking for higher weight carrying capacity than I can get in the 17" wheel and tire combo. I am currently running Michelin LTX 2 and am very pleased with the traction I get in wet, snow and ice and am very concerned in finding something in a 19.5 traction tire that will at least provide a reasonable amount of traction. I am thinking I need an open shoulder style rather than a closed shoulder style.I am considering the Vision 81 machined aluminum wheel which is rated for 5k pounds. Looking at several brands of tires (Double Coin RLB1, Cooper Roadmaster rm253, Toyo 608, Yokahama TY303, Hankook DH01) to name a few o…

Hello all. I currently have a stock 2008 2500 6.7l. I am wanting some insight of the pros and cons of the available deletes and programmer options and best brands. I'm not looking to damage my truck but to hopefully increase fuel mileage. Currently getting 13-15 depending on how heavy I get into the gas. My truck has a 4" lift with 35x12.5x17. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Anybody running this fuel additive? I ran it in my 06 when I had it and my dad has been running it in his 06 for about 2 years. Seems like pretty good stuff. I need to order more but just seeing what your guys opinions on it are. $180 shipped isnt too bad, espcially at 300/1 in the winter. http://www.amalgamatedinc.com/
