  2. Just got an email update from Edge. They have just released a software upgrade for their CS and CTS Insight guage monitor. It will enable data logging on up to 10 different parameters and it will also allow your Edge to control your Smarty PoD features from the Edge monitor. http://mv.treehousei.com/Public/Online.aspx?msgId=7a8ca451-5c63-d995-f780-a0b401715039 This sounds like a very cool set of features. I am looking forward to downloading this new software and learning more about it.

  3. I've searched the transmission threads and couldn't find out what would be involved putting a PacBrake or similar exhaust brake on my stock 48re. My combined gross weight is 17.5k and so interstates are no problem but on secondary roads where you can have 10% and higher grades I could use more stopping power.

I re-installed mine today. The rubber on my "washable" AEM filter on my Fram Boost 2 intake system was cracking/dry-rotting pretty good. Didn't feel like spending the coin for a new filter, so I re-installed the OEM filter box and filter. The OEM filter only had just over 12k mile on it when I tore it out originally. You know guys.............I kinda like the quiet.............no turbo whistle I mean. I forgot what it was like!!! When I have time, I'll "swiss-cheese" the airbox................not that it needs it, the OEM system flows enough air for about 500hp!!!

Has anyone tried a 200F thermostat on a 5.9 common rail? With winter here, I am hoping to get some more in cab heat when Idling around town. I was thinking of trying a 200f thermostat. I see some guys in the 2nd Gen forum are trying them, any experience on 3rd gens?

P2121........................I get this one and P2122 and P2123 from time to time. I really think it's got something to do with the fan clutch thing that I linked a while back in another thread. Here's another link from CompD about it........http://www.competitiondiesel.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136329 Pay attention to TxDiesel007's posts about this.

I left a week ago today for "opening weekend" of Arkansas duck hunting season. Did OK on ducks; and I wish I could've stayed longer. I waited to post about the trip to be able fill MightyWhitey up again so that I could give mileage reports for 2 tanks of fuel.Only downside to the trip was that the morning after I got home, I wake up to a flat tire on MightyWhitey!!! Driverside front. No indication of problems whilst driving home also!!! I dunno??:shrug:Anyhow; I left my house 1 week ago with about 1/4+ tank of fuel and filled up in Champaign, IL on the way down. About 180 miles to Champaign. That tank lasted me to Forrest City, AR plus a bit of running around down…

I noticed this morning (we had some pretty decent rain yesterday from Ida) that 3/5 of my cab lights are holding about 3/8" of water.. I ASSUME this is coming in through the screw holes, since there are no cracks/etc in the lenses. Is there an availability of small screw washers/seals out there somewhere that you may know of (short of some clear silicone or something)? I don't want this to create bigger problems in the near future. Thx

I just went out and tried to start the 04 truck, the first cold morn of the season and I know the batteries were a bit low. It turn over slow then stopped, nothing, won't turn over at all. Now with the key out there is a small red light near the oil gauge and a buss noise going on and off. I never seen anything like this before. Help!

I ran into a friend today who has an 06 2500 CTD. He has done some mods to it [a box and trans upgrades] and takes really good care of it. I have a 2002, and discussed the lift pump issue I am currently having with it. He wasn't sure if there were any lift pump issues with his model truck. Do these later model trucks have this issue as well?

I got T-boned right on the rear axel on Xmas eve. The body shop and insurance finally decided that the rear axle housing is tweaked. So in goes one with 58k from a junkyard. When they picked up the used diff and set it next to what came out the housings are different. Everything measures the same just case differences. So can anybody tell m what the difference is? First pictures will be what came on the truck, the last ones will be of the replacement. Look close at the reinforcement ribs.

Ok so I take my 05 dully to dealership with shifting problems, it's still under warrenty. The trans is skipping 2nd gear then down shift to 2nd then shifts on thru the gears. The service tech ask me how it shifts thru the rest of the gears. I say it shifts thru all five just fine, he tells me it only has 4. So what am I feeling? I am counting five shifts. Or is that the tourqe converter locking up that I feel?

  15. Well... I finally got back from DAP with the injectors and started the next day stuffing the +50 HP injectors in to the 2006 Dodge which has been named "Thor". I will say after getting all the work done and being able to drive it for the first time in nearly 3 YEARS. Yup the previous owner left it out in a field for over 2 years with a wiped out throw-out bearing. Now with the injectors and new clutch it runs pretty good. I still got a wastegate solenoid to get or fix. The best for last... I did custom license plates on the truck... MPR73MN

I said I have no idea but I know a bunch of guys that will...so anyone wanna shoot me some opinions and issues they have so I can try to help him out? It's Cummins too btw. He's a Chev man so it'd be a hoot to see him driving that thing..I'd never let him live it down

03 with 271k. It has an occasional knocking sound as well as it stops gaining RPM at 2100 then starts a squealing noise. the knocking noise which only happens at low start off RPMs and then quits, comes and goes but the RPM issue is constant. does this sound like a CP3 issue or something else? are the two symptoms related?

Ok.. Semi strange question. I purchased a smarty tuner from a gentleman that had his truck totaled. He said he had it unlocked prior to the truck being taken away by the insurance. When I plugged it in it says it's Vin locked. I contacted him and he apologized and said he must've done it wrong, but has the ECU and can send it to me along with the plug (I assume the harness) and I can just power it up and then put it back to "stock tune" which will unlock the smarty. Is this doable? Is the harness going to have the obd2 plug on it, and will powering it up even be a possibility? Thank you in advance for any help!!

I really didn't want to beat a dead horse here. I have been running Amsoil Oil filters eao80's on both my 05 and 01 and both trucks when you change the filter they are about 1 to 11/2 inches from the top. Almost everyone I talk to says there's runs over when they unscrew filter. Mine have never ran over and when I start the 01 you can here the difference until it pumps up. I just ordered two Donaldson elf7349 to see what happens with those. Can anyone share there experience.

I've got a '04 3500 4wd 5sp with 180k on the clock. I bought this truck about 6 months ago after many great years with my old D350. I was resistant to going with a 3rd gen as I'm a pretty knowledgeable mechanic, but I'm not a "wires" guy.I love the truck, but sure enough, now it's developed a nasty intermittent electrical problem. Every once and a while, it will suddenly go crazy in the dash board, with all the gauges bouncing, lights flashing, bells and gongs all going off. Fortunately, the engine never (at least not yet) misses a beat, but I found that even the brake lights go on and stay on when this happens. Sometimes the odometer will display "NO BUS" when t…
