    Last weekend was a fun one for sure. It started off with a towing trip to the edge of the Frank Church Wilderness. I was loaded up at a light 23,320 lbs. It's a 260 mile tow but there are 2 notable grades to pull. The first is Horseshoe Bend Hill on Hwy 55. It's about a 3.25 mile pull that averages a little over 5% but has about 2 miles of 7% as well. Depending on traffic I usually pull this grade anywhere from 55-60. Since I knew I was a little heavier than I normally am I wanted to see how the truck did and ran it at 60, which in 5th is about 2300 rpms. Normal camping weight (19-20K max) puts me at about 80-85% load, but not this t…

    Traveling down to SEMO on Friday for my annual snow goose hunt; we had an "occurrence"!!! About 100 miles into the trip, I notice my LP pressure dropping down to about 5-7psi less than normal. Thought it may be weather related; as it was in the single digits driving. I was thinking possibly fuel gelling, but hoping not. But I just happened to glance at the OEM idiot gauges on the dash, and my "changing/alternator" gauge is running well below 14 on the gauge.     My "new" "used" 2006 Lone Star 4x4 quad cab 5.9 cummins has an emblem on the tailgate that say "RamLock". In searching the internet for RamLock I see references to automatic locking tailgate and also to locking differential.So what exactly is "RamLock"?Scott

    Purchased my 2004.5 3500 a year ago, it has 142,000 miles on the clock, it is stock accept for an Edge EZ. Ran flawlessly until last Sunday, I live in the Phoenix Arizona area so it was like 55 degrees out, the grid heater light came on so I waited to start the truck, it tried to start and failed, I tried again and it started, idled normally and ran great but the check engine light was on. Turned it off at a friends house for little while (10 mins) it started right up, we went to a car show, when we came out it was even harder to start, it ran great all the way home, turned it off and it fired right up.     I am curios how often you guys change out your FASS fuel filters? I have a 95 series with upgraded Donaldson FF/FS and the Baldwin FWS. Been running those filters for about 9 months now. No pressure drop since I have installed them. Drained them a couple of times but no water present.     This may be a simple question but the service manager at the Dodge dealership could not give me an explanation that satisfied me - maybe one of you know the answer. I had my new used truck for a week. It is an all stock (as far as I can tell) 2006 2500 4x4 crew cab 5.9 with 167,000 miles on it. While driving on the interstate 75 miles south of Dallas the check engine light came on. Tried to limp home to Dallas but when I had to come to a complete stop in traffic the engine died.     so i have the filter spread sheet pic that AH64ID had from a few years ago. it's a bit out dated. so i'm after the current list. right now i run the oil LF 9028 fuel f5320 fuel baldwin 7977 as one can see i like the better line of filters. i usually run valvoline 15/40 and or 5/40 pending what's on sale. i only run till about 7500 miles. my thoughts are going with. DBL7349 ff5814 if i can find one. P553203/553207 so what's the best ones to get today. thanks for any thoughts you feel like sharing.

  10. So yesterday, I finally started tackling installing the Mopar "add-on" trailer (7-pin) kit. The reasoning is the PO had some kinda hack-job of a setup.. A busted 7 pin connector, and a piece of 14/2 wire (only using one) ran from the 7 way at bumper, up the driver's side rail, to the plug behind the LF wheel-well. Tapped into a green wire. This is apparently a 12VConstant (green) fed to the brake terminal of the 7-way. WTAF?? So at any rate, the MOPAR replacement with harness is in, minus the blue brake wire.. The new harness has a blue pigtail that is apparently to go to the under-dash somewhere. There's already a trailer brake in the cab, plugged in …

  13. I'm going to change my 48RE trans filter and fluid next week (65,000mi) and while the pan's off do the bands as well. I occasionally get a shuttle shift at very light acceleration, and after doing some reading I'm also going to replace the Governor press solenoid with a Borg-Warner one, and the pressure transducer also. I figured the cost of those wasn't alot more than the fluid will be, so might as well do it while the pan is off.A couple questions, approximately how much fluid am I going to need to pick up for this?     The P/S on my 2008 a moaning noise in cold weather but does not in warm weather. I have checked the fluid for level and foaming but everything looks normal. I question if it may be a harmonic but can't figure what would cause in in temps below 50 degrees and not above that temp. Even after 40 miles in cool weather it sound like it has low or burned fluid yet is normal in warmer temps from start up to key off. Any ideas?

    I need my alternator tested. Every place I've called says we can do it but I've read on here not all tests are the same. I read from one poster that he had autozone and another one test his and it was fine but ended up at Napa and they said it was cooked. What do they test for that's different? Thanks

    Hey guys,new to the forum,dodge,and Cummins. I recently purchased a 1999 drw, with 206k miles, for a work truck and I'm having what I call delayed start, meaning if I wait for the WTS light to come on it starts fine, extremely agrivating at a drive through. It doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold and no codes. What I've done so far is replace the APPS because of a code, clean battery connections,change fuel filter and check fuel pressure. The truck has a mopar remanufactured IP and tank located lift pump, the fuel pressure is extremely suspect and has to be addersed, its 9 psi at idle 5 psi at WOT, but when i shut it off the pressure bleeds to 0 and stays that way …
