Well, she finally rolled over.............100,000 miles that is!!!! ` I'm truly officially my own warranty now!!! :smart One saving grace about turning it is that my last 2 tanks of fuel have netted me over 600 miles/tank. It's warming up around here, so the mileage will go up. My Smarty is helping big time!!! The worst tank I got over the winter months still got me just under 17mpg!!! As I type this, I've got 100,204 mile on my 04.5!! :thumbsup

Like I said in a prior post, my truck just rolled over 100,000 miles. Within 20-30 miles of that, I pulled an oil sample and sent it out to Blackstone Labs for analysis. For y'all that don't know, I run a MotorGuard TP bypass filter on my truck. I did a bunch of research prior to buying and installing this unit. According to Mr. Ralph Wood (aka Mr. MotorGuard) oil doesn't wear out, it only gets dirty. If you can keep the oil clean, you can run it almost indefinitely. Anyhow, modifying his theory slightly for a "modified" diesel truck, I change out my TP at 1500-2000 mile intervals depending on how the truck was driven, and then add 1 quart of "make up oil". I change the …

The other day my smarty touch fell off the windshield mount to the floor of my truck after hitting a pot hole. I picked it up to plug it back in and noticed the connection on the back of the monitor had been pulled out by the android type charger connecting it the the control module. Not sure if anybody can give me any advice or tips but was wondering if MADS or Smarty does repairs? If anybody had anything to say please do because at the moment I can’t change the tune on my truck or return it to stock tuning meaning I won’t be able to possibly ever change tunes if I can’t get this smarty touch back working.

This is an interesting failure that I've now had twice. While running, all the gauges suddenly zero out (tach, speedo, oil pressure, voltmeter, fuel gauge), and all the idiot lights fire up. The truck continues running. After shutting down, the engine will start, idle momentarily and then shut off. The first time it happened, I started checking connections for anything obvious, and re-seating the APPS / TPS connector seemed to resolve it. I went there first because the throttle housing has been haphazardly relocated to accommodate dual CP3s and a Banks Big Hoss intake. The harness is stretched, and I need to extend it a few inches once the proper b…

My dome light in back seat flickers or you could call it fading in and out when the door is open or turning on the interior light. The overhead light is just fine, I dont have a clue, it's been doing this for a good while.

I had another VGT turbo to replace on a 3rd Gen Truck. Still not an easy task for truck owners to do. First off I have been getting my replacement rebuilt turbos from @dieselautopower and they have turbos in stock that are already calibrated and ready to install. Now like any other turbo install we have to remove all surrounding tubing and air ducts hooked to the turbo. The air filter and air intake all get removed and the discharge tube goes to the intercooler. Next step you might want to drain the coolant down. Yup, there is a coolant line between the turbo and they are on both top and bottom. The bottom two connections are a pain in the rear to get at. I'm going to giv…

Anyone that has a tachometer gauge acting strange and showing unusually high RPM speeds and bouncing. Make sure the tone wheel on the crank is clean and no grease and grime in the tone wheel. Then make sure ther sensor is in good condition and the gap is correct. After I got the truck fired up it had a very wild tach and jumped all over the gauge randomly. After I power washed the engine 99% of that went away. Now showing correct numbers and no longer jumping wild high numbers like banging 4.5k randomly.

I have a 2004 Dodge ram 2500 4x4. It has a new power steering pump for a 2008 dodge ram 2500. My issue now is that it has no power steering assist when turning left. If i turn right i have zero issues but as soon as i go left i have no assist what so ever. Im also not having any issues with my hydrobooster which is only 6 months old. Im thinking steering gearbox control valve is not functioning when I go left and thats why I dont get any assist. Only want to ask before installing a redhead.

I was reading in the articles about testing the instrument cluster and it says to refer to the Failure Message Chart but there isnt a chart anywhere I could find over there. Anyways I searched the internet and I found several charts but none of the codes on these charts were similar to what I showed. When I turn my key on I get "5 127" ". 285" "C 447" These numbers cycle through 4 times at approximately 3 seconds intervals each and then ends with "5 127" cycling a fifth time before it goes back to my mileage. The entire time these numbers are cycling through my gauges are moving through their test points, from what I read each one is stoping in the correct locati…

Someone gave me a copy of Amsoil Cetane Booster additive and a question popped up. I have read in the past that the cetane rating should be about 50 in grade 2 for a good performance. In the past I read ULSD is more towards 40 to 45. I have yet to hear of anyone using this Amsoil Cetane booster, let alone the actual results of it's use. Had anyone used it ? What did you fine out ? I plan on a 5k round trip early next year and was thinking of trying it for my 1st time. Could same me money or problems if someone knows my answers. Any help ?

This is a pretty simple maintenance procedure, but I thought I would throw my .02 out here for everyone to read. First off the service manual has the procedure, and it really is quite simple. In addition to the coolant flush I changed the thermostat. That procedure can also be found in the service manual. I started off by simply draining the OE fluid into a bucket. It was still very red, no oil, or any contaminates that I could see. There was a little bit of some contaminate the showed up on the 3rd flush in the radiator, but looked liked what I have seen in every cooling system. On my 2nd flush the coolant was much warmer and now had a small…
