My rear brakes (drum) have never really grabbed much. I recently replaced a leaking wheel cylinder and for a few brake applications they worked awesome. The rear abs actually activated. By now I'm back to the previous laziness. What can be wrong? It's a real pain having only front brakes at icey intersections.

I hate the break controller in the 2001 3500 I bought and I want to change it out. My question is does the Dodge have a plug like comes with some controllers, or do you have to hard wire it in. Next question, How do you go about taking the lower dash panels off? Thanks In advance Earl

got up to almost 30 this morning, so I thought it would start easy for me... ran the pre heat, bumped the starter to start the lift pump, then ran the pre heat again. It did fire a little, but then nothing. Rob said I didn't have any vapor during the crank. We pulled it about a half mile trying to start, and it did run momentarily. Then finally nothing. Just happened to have my reader on board, and I got a p1693 I knew that was a companion deal, and digging a little deeper on my code reader it had a timing issue in the vp. about this time I noticed my fuel lift pump no longer run…

Hey guys, its about 0 degrees here this morning, feels like -24. I went out to the truck this morning, actually started up very well. But there was a unusual humming coming from around the fuel pump under the hood and the FP on my Edge was stuck at 3psi, then 4, 5, and seemed to stick 6-7psi. Normally I have about 14-15. I cut it off because I didn't NEED to leave, and I just replaced the VP44 last spring and do not want to do it again. I am just wondering for later today and the future, is this normal? If I had left it warm up would it get normal or would I end up causing damage?

Got a 2002 cummins that's getting fuel in my engine oil. Put new injectors in and ran for 200 miles and it's doing it again. I've put dye in the fuel and let it idle but I cannot see where's it's leaking. Any thoughts?

I cranked up the truck this morning, and let it warm up a little, got back in the truck and the CEL was on and the tach was dead. P0336 was the code, so I was wondering if the sensor is only for the tach, or does it have another purpose? I think the Camshaft position sensor on the '01-'02's can leave you stranded, but I'm not sure if a crank sensor could? I searched for 20 minutes and couldn't find an answer. Also, the truck would stumble for a second and then the tach would come back, then a minute later it would stumble and the tach would die. After a while the tach was fine, and the CEL was staying on. I tried erasing the codes, but it wouldn't let me. After an aft…

Hey all. I have been poking around different threads asking questions but I figured this is a big enough problem that I should start my own. Over the last month or so I have been having a problem with my batteries running dead in short amounts of time. I blamed it on the cold and put 2 brand new 850 CCA batteries in and changed out the alternator after having the light come on multiple times for it. I was having fuel gel issues and left it parked overnight (the block heater WAS plugged in) and came back the next day, batteries were to low to crank over. I know for a fact the block heater is working correctly, block stays nice and warm in the -30 weather we have. I…

Met up with jonathan1950 today. He was in town on vacation. We spent over 3 hours talking about trucks. He did the nv4500 swap and is a big advocate of it for effort vs payoff. In looking for a donor truck...what age/models will work? V10, V8? I have a 24 vavle 2001.5. Seems like V8, V10's should open up my options a lot. Can I get my PCM flashed to turn it into manual transmission? Thanks Jonathan for meeting up with me. Great info and truck!

So I've been looking at the Edge products, and have noticed that depending on which one you decide to get some come with built in gauges as an added bonus. So my question is are these gauges reliable enough to just use them or should you just go on ahead and get the actual gauges? If they are reliable my view is if I decided to get a Edge product with gauges then why spend the $300.00 + dollars to get actual gauges! Just my thoughts. Opinions welcomed, and appreciated in advance.

I am going to be doing a complete fluid change on my 01. I am looking for a recommendations on what fluid you guys are running or what works best in these 24 valves. I will be doing coolant, engine oil, atf fluid, and rear diff. Should I run any additives? Manual says to run something in the rear diff. Truck has a little over 80,000 miles on it and is an auto trans. It is a tow rig 75% of the time but not a daily driver. Looking for good quality stuff that is affordable and readily available. Is there anything else I need to do while I am doing all this??

Alright so I was curious as to know what that meant, to over spin a turbo. Well, I dunno if my circumstances will make that an instance or not. But looking it up, I found this: I have seen more than once, our trucks produce a puff of smoke. Sometimes my smoke is white, sometimes black. I just associated it with the diesel. But then again, how relevant is this to us? Makes me wonder if I have overspun or of the previous owners have overspun the turbo?

They are convenient at times, but while towing I find myself under throttling to keep it from kicking down a gear. I like to lug a bit, but give it a little more pedal and verooooom she kicks into a higher gear. Since Trans swaps are expensive and time consuming. Is there any kind of mod that can be done to go through the gears manually? I don't even know what wide open throttle is. If I go that far it will go into a lower gear and rev up like crazy.

Alright, someone please tell me this is about normal? I switched to Amsoil on my last oil change. I'm now about 4300 miles into it, and I checked the oil level recently before I went down to see my parents for christmas. Its a good thing I checked! The level was below the add mark and I had 2 quarts left of this liquid gold to add back into the safe area. I noticed the oil pressure gauge showed a little bit longer of a delay in building pressure on initial startup and pressure was a little lower than normal. Nothing that raised a red flag, but now I know why it was so. I have noticed since the change that the blowby vapor looks as though it has increased and there is …

I asked this before...but after 6 months of 2 cycle oil use I've still got ticking going on. Sound comes out of both front wheel wells. No difference one side to the other. I try to listen to other 24 valve rigs out there and some have the clicking sound and others don't. I adjusted my valves, but should probably look at them again. Maybe one was way out and I adjusted at 20 rather than 10? Other than excessive lifter noise, could a bad injector cause the sound? Idle is smooth, but power and torque seems lower than I feel should be, but that's not backed up with any kind of inpherical evedence. Oil pressure good, fuel pressure optimum, fuel economy around 14 when towing a…

I recently installed an edge insight with the expandable egt harness. I was looking at adding lift pump pressure, but by the time I buy the sensor adapter with the proprietary connector and their pressure sender I'm looking at almost $300. Has anyone found an off the shelf sender that will work with the insight? $100+ seems awful steep to me.

Damn. Recently pressurewashed and thoroughly degreased my engine. Yea, I know once the engine is squeaky clean this the best way to spot leaks. So, I have an oil leak where the vac pump / ps pump flange mounts to the rear of the timing case. Dammit! Hard to get to. Has anyone taken this assembly off to change the gasket & resolve an oil leak? My first gen has a leak in the SAME EXACT area. I tried to remove the assy on that truck and ended up frustated. I'm not fixing this issue on the old first gen, but my 02 is one sweet truck so I'm inclined to fix and keep it clean. Any tips or step by steps? Picture attached. (picture taken while i was …
