They claim it's an injector tester but I don't think so. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DIESEL-FUEL-INJECTOR-TESTER-ADAPTER-5-9L-CUMMINS-WITH-24-VALVE-ELE-INJECTION-/261215973677?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item3cd1af712d&vxp=mtr

Went on a fairly long trip this morning (600kms) to bring home another Suzuki Samurai and decided to actually calculate the mileage. I ended up getting 17mpgs. Half was empty trailer of course, but I'm pretty happy with those numbers. The trailer is a 16 foot and the Sammy weighs about 2600lbs so the load wasn't real big. I was driving fairly fast too 110km/hr and there was some hilly sections and a bit of wind to fight. That was with the Comp set on 1x5. I had it on 3x5 for a bit but my EGTs seemed to stay above 700 too much. I sure like the 2 stroke oil in the fuel, it does quiet down my engine a lot. Too bad fuel is $1.18 a liter here now. The trip cost me $97 …

I finally got my 4” exhaust hooked up yesterday. WOW, what a difference it made in the old heap. It really woke the truck up. I can’t believe the difference it made on how quickly the truck revs up. I drive it like an old man (of course I am) and usually shift the truck around 2 to 22 thou. Now I can’t stop the thing from reving to 3 before I can move the lever. Been racing and building hot rods all my life and I have never seen an exhaust make so much difference. I have been making up excusses to drive the truck anywhere for anything ever since.. I am a happy camper:hyper:

So here's the deal. Truck is an 02 with a built auto, 120k miles and edge comp with tapped wire, stock injectors. After tons and tons of reading I decided that upgrading to an hx35 would be better for the truck and just make the truck better overall but I honestly don't know how to feel about it now that I'm doneThe truck makes way more heat on the egt's. Like everywhere but way up high in the rpm range. With the stock injectors and pinned I can only just barely touch 1250 unloaded but this was impossible with my hy. and whereas my hy made a max boost of maybe 20 the hx makes about 37 max psi.whats going on here? I get more heat, less spool up down low. Higher cruising eg…

I'm wanting to redo the fuel system on my '83 F250 with Cummins. Right now it is only using one of it's two 19 gallon tanks, the front tank. I'd like to replace the rear tank with a drop in replacement 38 gallon; and, would it be worth while to add a sump to the new 38 gallon tank? Picture of a 38 gallon installed I was thinking of adding a typical billiet $$$$ diesel sump to the lowest point in the tank pictured or using a formed steel sump more common in drag racing applications. http://www.jegs.com/i/Jegster/550/40793/10002/-1?parentProductId=747210 My second question is which lift pump should I be looking at? I never plan on making big power, r…

I am new to diesels and just bought this 99 which ran when I went to pick it up. It started really slowly like the batteries were dying but still ran. I got it home and realized the crankshaft sensor wasn't even plugged in. This was the reason the batteries were not charging. I replaced sensor and started looking around and found alot of unplugged wires in the engine compartment. Tried to start and lift pump was not pumping just making noise. Replaced lp on side of block and got pressure to vp at banjo entry. cracked lines to injectors and there was only a little dribble from any of them. Still no start. My question is: is there a way to rig these trucks to run …

  7. On the final leg of my journey to our campsite while towing my travel trailer the engine temperature climbed up to about 220. The mark between 190 and 240 on the dash gauge. We were on a paved road, so no low range 4x4 was utilized. The grade was very steep and I was in second gear at about 2,000 RPM's. When I got to the top the temp reading for the engine was about 220. Smelled hot too. No gauges to monitor EGT's, etc so I cannot comment on that. So I put the truck in neutral and ran up the RPM's to about 1,500 until it came back to normal operating temp. Is this typical or should I be looking for an issue?

  9. Ok i am currently looking for a second Dodge with a cummin's under the hood. But same as the last go around finding one that is just like i want it is getting harder. So i'm looking for a 2001 Dodge 2500-3500 HO 6spd but so far nearly every one i've looked at all say the same thing 150-180-250k mile's The mile's are way back in my mind i've drove a few with 400k and drove like new and of course the dreaded "Just replaced VP44 and added a Airdogg/FASS" Why do all these people drop $1500 for a Inj pump +Labor and then add a $700 Fuel pump + Labor and a 100 mile's later thorugh it up for sale. If i drop that kind of cash on something i'm gonna run it into the ground. lol I h…

  10. I went to drain my fuel filter canister today, turned the drain valve nothing came out, not even a drop of fuel came out. So I pulled the canister it was full of fuel, pulled the filter out dumped the fuel out. Looked in the bottom and there is about 3/4" or so of sludge, it has the consistency or pours about like honey very thick. It's about the color of fuel. Anyone have any idea what it could be? I been running 3 oz of two stroke oil every other tank since I bought the truck. I wonder if it could be gathering in the bottom of the filter housing? I have only owned the truck since last Nov, I changed the filter the day after I bought the truck. I have not even put…

I'm towing about 9k lb and truck slows down to 35-40 mph going up 6% grades. I went up the same hills in October at 55-60 mph with power to spare. Then I didn't drive it until March. I installed a new heater core (which has no bearing on this problem), a new crankshaft sensor, and a Fuel Boss pump with a new Airtex pump as a backup. I also washed my AME air filter. After doing all of this I did a test run towing a car on a flatbed trailer from Ontario, CA to San Diego with no problems, 60 mph all the way. My fuel pressure is 18-19 lbs @ idle and 20-21lbs @ 1800 rpm and above. my boost pressure is 26 psi @ 2800rpm and drops as the rpms go down. Any thoughts?

  12. Hey guys. 2001 2500 24v 6speed manual. Always has started perfect and fast. I noticed a very loose wire on the starter yesterday (the smaller wire). I was going to pull the wire off, strip it down a little then reinstall it to get a better connection. I wasnt thinking when I first got under it with pliers to loosen the nut. I must of touched something together because I got a spark and a loud noise. Almost like it tried to turn over. Disconnected the batteries so that wouldn't happen again. Pulled the wire off, stripped it down to good wire, wound it around the grounding post and tightened a nut down on it. Reattached the batteries, tur…

Hey guys! I've been lurking around this site for a while. I've gotten lots of valuable info for keeping my trucks going. I have a 2001 2500 that has been giving me issues for a while(2 years now)- hopefully I can find some knowledge here. the truck runs fine when its cold, as it heats up the power will cut out, then come back. I have taken it to a couple of mechanics and they haven't been able to figure out the problem.we ran it one day with the Modus attached- TPS is fine, CPS is fine, only thing we could see funny was that as it was cutting out/ powering up the Calculated load value was jumping from 0% to 100%. anyone know how the computer calculates the load value?…

My sending unit stuck at full yesterday, again. I took a soft dead blow to the top of the canister this morning, which was in a bit of a tight spot needless to say, and she started registering again. One of these days I need to repair that thing. I'm thinking vulcan's liberty module when I recover from the fuel boss install, as I'm sure when I pull the lines off the top of the tank, they will break (murphy's law). My sending unit is the old style with arced metal inlet/outlet lines. I know there's a repair here for the float, just need to search for it.

Hi Everyone,I am a new diesel owner and just was poking around on the forum and saw a lot of guys use 2-cycle oil as a fuel additive in there trucks. I just have a few questions. 1) What is the ratio of 2-cycle oil to gallons of gas?2) How often can you add it to the gas? Is it an every other fill up type deal? Or is it something you always do?Any info on this subject would be helpful! Thanks.

  19. I was driving the truck and it just died. I checked the fuel pressure by bumping the starter and have about 12 psi. As soon as I turn the key the pressure goes down to 3 -5 psi and bounces. I have a raptor 100 pump on the truck. I jumped the relay for the pump and it constantly pumps at about 12 psi while trying to start the truck. I do not believe that the pump is bad due to it working just fine while jumping the relay. I cracked an injector line and no fuel comes out when trying to start while jumping the pump power. Any idea what would cause the no start and the raptor to act like that when starting it connected to the relay.

Cummins part number for the water drain on the fuel filter housing on my '00 truck. Mine is leaking like a sieve and I've already rebuilt it twice in the last month so I'm going to give up on it and replace the whole flippin' thing!
