Ok Gang... You all have seen the Dodge FSM book minimum pressure of 10 PSI. Well I started to do some thinging and relized even that is too low. Here lets take a look at a pic here... http://forum.mopar1973man.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=878 So now let assume your fuel pressure average is about 12 PSI which is above the 10 PSI minimum pressure. Driving down the highway at 55-65 MPH your going to be flowing at least 2-3 GPH through the pump. But now let add a twist to it. New situation... Going up to Seven Devils Campground its a 17 mile drive up a 1 lane dirt road that is steep. I'm dragging a utility trailer with 2 ATV's. Ok for the sake of the post we'll say t…

Well gang... My Kenwood MP3 player is actiung up and giving me fits. It was good ol' Mom that got me thinking... Well I grabed a old CD and flipped it up-side down and got a good grab on it and notice that when the disc was inserted you could feel it grab a bit strong on the label face. Hmmm... It also scratch the label face pretty bad... (Dirty) But I never let it go in... So this evening I start thinking and grab the scratched CD now and rapped a old tee shirt over it and dampen it with alcohol and inserted this shirt cover disc part way. The alcohol acts like a mold lubricant and allowed the roller to spin and against the tee shirt covered disc and clean the rollers.…

I have an autometer EGT in my 2000 and am going to add a edge juice with attitude which also requires a thermocouple. Instead of installing a separate T-couple is it advisable just to connect my edge to the existing thermocouple? I seem to remember that the leads are specific length and impedance so running 2 devices off the same thermocouple might not be a great idea... Anyone out there done this? Thanks, Chris

I finally got my oil analysis back. This is my first one ever so I don't know anything about the numbers on the report. Maybe you guys could help me out with whether these numbers are good bad or somewhere in between. The report says resample at regular interval. It was John Deere Plus 50 (15w40) changed at 10000 kilometers (6210 miles). I've tried posting the report but it didn't work so I'll just write it down here. viscosity------13.3fuel-----------0soot----------5oxidation-----13nitration------9water---------0antifreeze----0 silicone-------10iron-----------30chromium----1aluminum----8copper-------2lead----------2tin------------0nickel--------0silver---------0 molybden…

I just got my S-03 smarty. I've read through the manual and have an idea on how to use it. However, the manual don't tell me how to just turn on the high idle in the stock ECM program. When I load a catcher program (they all have high idle enabled in them) to the ECM, the smarty stores much of the original ECM program and then vin locks so It can't be used on another truck. I can restore the original program to my truck and then the smarty unlocks so it can be used on another truck. So my question is when the original program is restored to the ECM is the high idle turned off or left on in the ECM? There is no specific function in the smarty to turn on the…

Hi all more knowledgabe than I: In several circumstances there is talk of bleeding air from lines such as when a fuel filter is replaced, when the fuel pressure guage is installed, etc. My question is: How exacty is this done? I've heard that you turn the key three times. Is that with the clutch depressed to make the engine turn over or just with the key and no engine turn over? In the instructions for hooking up a fuel line to a guage isoator, the manual talkes about running the lift pump until the fuel flows good without air. How do you do this while you are in your truck turning the key, or cranking the engine? Hope the question makes sense. It will be obvious …

Ok here goes I got some trouble codes and it ended up being the shift solenoid so i dropped the valve body to replace the solenoid and wire harness at the same time readjusted both frond and back bands. well i thought it would be a good idea to pull the valve body partially apart and clean and check valves. well i put it back together but i messed up the kick down valve and put in backwards but now it is fixed. so it shifts now. but here is the kicker shifts from 2nd to 3rd takes a bit to shift and when it does and at low rpm in 3rd it goes in and out. also i let off the petal and rpm goes all the way to idle and holds no gear. 1st just does not seem to build up …

HiBeen playing around with the airconditioning on my truck (as it blows hot air and has done ever since I got it -> but its not been warm enough for me to get on it).Figuring it was low R134a or whatever - got the walmart kit and started filling - problem was it would only allow like 10% of the can to be dumped into the low pressure port/accumulator before it was complaining of too highpressure on the guage. Well I couldn;'t hear the compressor - so after reading around I figured that was it.I climbed under and diconnected the sensor/wiring harness.I then tried to use a piece of wire to bridge the wiring harness - it smoked a little - then nothing.I got my multimeter o…

About a week ago the truck started being a little difficult to start. I would try to start and have to give it a second set of cranks to get it to fire. Previously to this it would start almost instantly. No I don't have my fuel pressure gauge installed yet but do have a low pressure light on a Hobbs switch mounted on the VP. When I have difficulty starting I'm seeing the light come on a little and flicker. Never experienced that before. If I reved the motor up to 1200+ rpm pressure would stabilize. Now I don't see any visible signs of a fuel / air leak. I changed the fuel filter to see if that would help. It didn't look bad and made no difference. I know I need to get my…

Ok I did the mod and it primes when you go key on but when cranking it you can see the test light flashing (not staying steady) and then when it starts it stays steady is this what i am looking for? i don't have gauge for fuel yet but the lift pump is from parts store new and only 1000 miles old so far. I can tell right off the batt something is different because it cranks and lights first hit of the key where as since installing new lift pump it would crank a few times and some times you had to try 5 or 6 times before it would start! I thank you guys very much for the modification its a life saver! Question now is I know its just a bandaid to my injection pump's problem,…

My 01 surges with the cruise on at any highway speed. If I take the cruise off and hold my foot in one spot and it will hold speed and boost. With the cruise on it is back and forth between 11-17 psi. Any suggestions?

After reading a lot of advice on this and other forums, I decided that I needed to buy a fuel pressure gauge. Going on recommendations I’ve received, I ordered an inexpensive Westach gauge. When it arrived, I had a local garage install it. After they finished, I got in to drive the truck back home, a distance of 25 miles. About 7 miles out, the gauge went to zero. I pulled off, shut the engine off, and thought about it a bit. I started the engine back up and the gauge went back to around 11psi idle. It worked all the way home. The next day, when I started it up, the gauge was zero and stayed there. I called up the garage, and they said to bring it in Friday. I called up …

Hi All, Just did my first oil change (oil was fresh 4K miles ago when I bought it). My Haynes manual says to torque the oil plug to 60 ft lbs. I thought that was a bit much so I only torqued it to 40. The plug bolt broke!! I torqued its replacement to 35. Is that enough? Thanks,Jay
