2nd Generation Dodge 24 Valve Powertrain

The problem I'm having is with the cruise ,on and I come to a hill it holds speed but coming down it will gain not correct . So I push the coast button and will not slow down I've also tried it on the flat and coast will not work .The accel botton and cancel does work . I'm think coast button is bad or the cruise servo? My lady was drving our 1999 Ram 3500 cummins turbo diesel, getting on the highway and throttling up when all of a sudden the check engine light came on and our big white truck slowed down to a crawl, 20 mph max. We limped her home and called a good friend of mine who has a code scanner, he hooked it up and it came up with a P1689 code. She will start up and idle, step on the pedal and she studders a bit a Safety shut down mode I suppose with the 20 mph max..Please help me get my baby purring again..Patrick

Been throwing the low voltage (1488) code, the batteries are new and the cables are clean and tight.Anyone have an idea where i need to look/go next to find the problem???The truck seems to run ok, Just like to find the problem so I can fix-it.Thanks Ed.

So I just recently tapped my vp for the quadzilla and my new Timbo apps threw a cel. Started surging then threw the code. Never had one do this. I suppose Tim wont warranty it once you tap vp. I just hope its not related to tap. Set it to zero on the Iquad I guess its off.

O.K.... Trans. starting acting weired, 3-4th gear hunt last week. i recalibrated the APPS and it fixed it, then Last Night coming down the Parkway cruising at 70MPH it started what felt like either jumping out of 4th Gear or TQ unlocking only for a split second, I MEAN IT WOULD ONLY DO IT SEAM LIKE WHEN I WOULD VERY SLIGHTLY DECREASE PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL. Last night and today was very cold in my area so last night I started the truck and let it run for about 45 minutes because I didn’t want the diesel to freeze. I have about 3/4 of a tank of diesel. this morning I went to start the truck and it started up I let it run ( not sure how long it ran for before it died) and went in the house. I came back about 45 minutes later and the truck was off I noticed there was zero fuel pressure on my edge controller I went to start it up again And it ran for about 30 seconds And died out. I noticed the 0216 code which is timing fuel pressure. I am wondering if the fuel frozen inside the filters or my VP 44 went bad again? I opened th…

So my truck is plagued with an overboost code. My quad shows 39psi regardless of throttle position. I have removed the Quad and will be sending it in for repair. I cleared the codes and put my Edge EZ back in and I get the same code. I replaced the Apps and Map last fall. I guess now I disconnect the EZ and run stock tuning to see if it continues? I can't get it smogged with this code hanging out.......

i beleive i nee da new map sensor after reading on here just cleaning the sensor wont help where do i find a new map senesor for a good price if you guys can think of anything else i can do please help

Just put in a new fass lift pump and vp44. have no power. Wont rev above 2250 RPM in overdrive will rev to 3000 RPM with out overdrive. really slow to get up to speed . Not a lot of cash left to throw at the old girl. heart broken to see her sittin there

i assume my vp44 is dead i need help with a new one and dont have alot of money is it hard to install aswell

Posted a couple days ago reference subject code. Did the key trick again this AM and the code still shows. However, my Scan Gauge and 2 Hand Held gauges did not pick it up. I'm the original owner (90k miles on truck) and have not any problems with codes before Had the not scanned for code in about three years. Had a transmission fluid change last week which I think included a T/C flush also. I have noticed my tranny temp in the 190 to 200 range since which is a bit higher than it was running before. If I'm not wrong it was running well below 170 towing. Have a 3k mile r/t set up to begin Monday so If I need to get something done any advice will be greatly appreciate…

i have a couple post on here and origanly my map sensor said it was bad but truck would still start i have not had time to fix map sensor but now truck wont even start is this cause of bad map sensor or do i have other issues my obd2 came up with 1688

I have had the abs light and brake light on since I bought the truck. it's 4x2 abs I changed the rear speed sensor just to try. I brought it to the dealer to get scanned and it came back with code 65 he said it was main open maybe. Said something about a rwal valve,did say that the abs computer was good.but wanted and little input from you guys

Have set a code 0122 but the truck is running fine. Researching the TPS and it is not very expensive. What is the difference between a TPS with a harness and one without a wiring harness? Both listed for a 2001 diesel. Now to replace it. I think it is behind the housing with the cables that control the throttle. What needs to be removed to get to it? Last question is should I dive in and replace it and how do I reset the trouble codes?

Engine light came on. When I chkd code by turning key 3x, I got P0237. How do I clear the code so that after I disconnect the Quad module, I can see if that was the problem? If not the Quad, I assume its the MAP sensor. Anything else I should consider? By the way, where's the MAP sensor located?thx,Eric

A couple of weeks ago, I was tool'n around town and realized my Quad XZT was on high performance setting. I switched back to the low setting which I run all of the time. However, shortly after switching down, the engine light came on. The code was P0237. Since then, I have hardly driven the truck. Today, I disconnected the Quad XZT and drove the truck to run some errands. After a few starts, the engine light went off, and when I checked codes, only the P1698(I think?) was displayed. Just did the key trick and found a P0500. I find on the Forum that it has to do with the Speed Sensor Control. Planning on leaving on a 2.5 month trip next Monday and was wondering what action to take, if any, before I leave. Also, being a non motor head old fart, I don't know how to clear the code. If it just affects the speed, I have a GPS and a Scan Gauge on board. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

This is a writeup I did on another forum last year. I've pretty much abandoned other diesel forums so I thought I would post it here. A few weeks ago my truck suddenly decided to stop shifting and got stuck in 3rd gear (limp mode). It wouldn't up-shift or down-shift. I was able to manually down shift to second but it wont shift automatically and it couldn't be manually shifted to first. I checked for codes and got a P0753 which according to the manual is: Trans 3-4 Shift Sol/Trans Relay Circuits - An open or shorted condition detected in the overdrive solenoid control circuit or Trans Relay Circuit. My truck died on the hiway today(2000 ram 2500 diesel, auto). I did the key trick and the code P1693 showed up along with the code P1682. I believe P1682 has to do with a voltage problem. Where do I start with this? Maybe an external voltage regulator is needed? Am I on the right track and why would the truck just shut off and still have enough juice to turn over at a normal rate? Any help or thoughts on this would be much appreciated.
