so a local shop does full rebuilds on turbos for appx $350. imma get the turbos rebuilt and have a good spare. -------- Hi Randy, For an HX35W, the starting rate for a rebuild on this turbocharger is $350.00. The $350.00 includes all new bearing, seals, bolts, thrust bearing, thrust collar and new clamps. We test your actuator to make sure it is within spec. We will check for shaft straightness to make sure it is a completely level surface. All the housings (Compressor, turbine & bearing) are all placed in ultrasonic cleaners. Then they are bead blasted and glass blasted as well. They will then be sent back into the sonic cleaners once …

I read that you can use the inner most 1/8" port on the top of the fuel filter canister as a tap for your mechanical FP gauge. This is the plug closest to the center nut on top. Anyone have any info on this?

  4. Announcement: I will start producing a combination high idle/3 cyl high idle/MPG fooler box in a quality manner. This will not be a 1 time thing. I am going to order in bulk & produce probably 25 at a time. All plug & play with a small durable weatherproof connector to go through the firewall. ECT & IAT wiring will be OEM style plugs so that you do not have to cut & splice the harness. It'll be similar to the MAP sensor harness on a tuner or boost fooler:Unplug connector from sensor, plug in HI/MPG plug to sensor & plug in HI/MPG plug to truck's harness.I am trying to work with a well known diesel performance distributor, so that it will always be…

My truck has the worst pedal ever and I've tried resetting a million times and put on a new sensor from OReillys. There are no numbers to set the voltage to and I don't mind spending a little but I don't want to trow parts at it. I had high expectations for this truck but it is the biggest turd I've ever drove right now. Has new lift and injection pumps also. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi all,I'm having this problem with a 99, 5 speed, fairly stock, ~25,000 miles on new injector pump , little bullydog 'chip' and BHAF. I'll be going down the road normal, and suddenly I'll loose all power, it just wants to idle. Now if I hit the clutch, and let the fuel pedal all the way out, then push it all the way back in, and let it all the way out again, it's fixed, and I have power again. and when it has this problem the check engine light turns on and stay on for about 30 minutes. I understand checking for codes would be very helpful, a friend of a friend may have a code checker I can use but I'm not sure. Is there something I can do with the key to check for …

so drivin down i25 @75mph with ac blowin cold outside temp 99F. temp gauge showed a bit higher than ive ever seen about 210. no problems, coolant is good never had a problem with overheating or over cooling till now. i wasnt hauling anything either. Now the issue i think is the tstat is stuck open allowing over cooling. barely will hit 170 in 99f heat with ac runnin doing 65. the fan is working fine, blowing strong but not locked. so i am gonna order a new 195f tstat and bolts then swap this week. thoughts?

on my 99 dodge p pumped truck i am having a major issue. 2 days ago i go to start the truck up and all the guages stopped working except the fuel gauge and speedo. Oil, tach, volt, temp all are on zero. ac does not work either. after driving the truck for say 5 minutes, all the gauges kick back on and the ac starts to work. i have checked all grounds, power, and fuses and everything seems inline. this mornign i drove it for 10 minutes and the gauges did NOT come back on. also cannot check for codes as the scanner will not connect to the truck now. weird part is it does not say NO BUS in the odometer. sometimes the scanner will work and most times it will not. only codes i…

  12. Good evening ladies and germs. yet again the gremlins are on my truck lol. To start i have had zero issues with the vp44 since replacement of it 3-4 years ago (budget rebuilt vp, didnt have much $ at the time). I have replaced the lift pump system twice and no issues/codes since last replacement early this year. new connector tube orings last summer, no head leaks. new seal washers on return line from head, will check for leaks. So this morning i drive home zero issues. This afternoon it was about 95 outside and started the truck from cold and it started with zero issues (normal time to ignition lets say 1.5 seconds to fire) I drive appx 10 or so miles…

So its been happening more often now. I've counted a few times this week now. Hot or cold it happens. Is it the starter contacts or something worse? If its the contacts where do I get them? I've got a cummins parts dealer a block away!

  15. OK, my side cover is leaking about a quart a day. Have new gasket set. Also have a used VP44HO to put in(Thanks Ghostman). Have big line kit from stock filter with FP sender for my Quad & gear puller(Thanks Jkidd).Going to pull VP, all lines, filter canister & frrp. Then, I am going to pull the ECM & possibly space it out or at least plan it out for the future. Then, do the leaky side cover gasket.I will pull apart the FRRP & reseal it while i have it out. I also have a NAPA 1/2" 50 micron filter to put in before the FRRP.Here's my questions:1. I do not have the barring tool, so is there a redneck way for breaking the IP gear nut loose & torqui…

My truck had an intake and 4" exhaust on it when I got it so my next step is gauges. Gonna go with Isspro ev2 boost, pyro, and fuel pressure but I'm not sure on the ranges I should go with. Boost I'm thinking 0-40 psi since my turbo is stock and I have no plans to upgrade. Pyro seems like 0-1600 is standard. Fuel pressure is where I'm unsure. I know I don't want the pressure getting too low, but what is the high end of where a stock fuel system runs? Also, will that change if/when I get a FASS/Airdog installed? Thanks!

A few days ago truck didn't seem to make boost like it used too; I figure it was the fuel filters so I didn't worry much and just finished swapping a new gas tank, Vulcan filter kit, 1/2" fuel line from the tank to Vp, and threw a new lift pump on (same Walbro 392). Before I had 23 psi idle and 19 under a load; with no changes to the bypass I now have 20 psi at idle now and I can't get the truck under a load.I see under 10 pounds of boost when before this occurred it would peg the 25psi gauge.1594,0463,1492,1693 are the codes displayed on the dash.Any ideas? I'm praying the VP is okay. Turbo is dirty from the old oiled air filter on it but no shaft play.

Hey guys, new to the forum. I have a '98 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 5.9L 24valve automatic 2 wheel drive 3:55 rear axle ratio. I have done literally everything I could possibly do to my truck to improve the mpg. Yet, I cannot seem to get anything over 15-16 mpg in the city and hwy can vary from 16-22 mpg. Current mods are afe cold air intake, airdog 100gph pump, rv275 injectors, smarty tuner, 4" straight exhaust, IAT fooler, scanguage 2, tires are toyo m-55 245-75-16 filled to 80 psi. The truck would get 15 mpg city/hwy bone stock with a 3" exhaust however when the fuel pressure was tested I was told that it was at 9psi at idle. I'm wondering if its done damage to the already…

  20. Does anyone else experience their transmission shifting into reverse uncomfortably hard while in low range? Mine shifts great in high, but 2 is pretty hard. Is this in part due to my low stall torque converter? Will installing a upgraded valve body make this worse?
