Does anyone know if the wheels off a 2012 model Ram will fit on the 96 year truck. Wheels are 8 lug and seller says they are 17" chrome clad.

I started filling my trucks up at the coop, no particular reason. Anyway I always hand calculate my full mileage each fill up so I filled up and wow 17mpg in my 05 It has never goten better than 16. So I was observing the pumps and in fine print and it said 5% bio deisel.Three days later I full up my 01 and she got 16:thumb1: and she weighs 11k loaded with all my junk. This is with two stroke in the tank. Work truck normally gets 14.5 to 15.75. I like this bio stuff, we have never had it around our little town. Pay a little more but hey more mileage.

Maybe this will save someone here some trouble. I have an A.R.E contractor cap on the truck and have never been able to get the third brake light to work without it flashing when a turn signal was turned on. I finally called a different dealer and the Tech knew exactly what I needed to know. In the main harness that feeds the tail of the truck, drivers side by the spare tire, there is a wire with a tag labeled "CHMSL" that is either white/orange or white/tan.

Has anyone replaced the dash cap with a new one? On my 96, which should be the same for 94 - 97, How do you get to the screws on passenger side and the defrost vents? No problem removing the old dash because it was so broken I could just about reach in from the top. However to install the new dash there are screws on the passenger side and on the defrost vents that have to be screwed in from the windshield side of the dash. I understand that I need to unbolt and tilt the entire dash toward the seat but it still looks near impossible to reach these screws. Any experienced advice?

As I've posted before, the spring cups where the front springs sit on my front axle are badly rusted out. Dodge only sells them with the axle housing. (yeah, right!) It's not going to pass inspection without it. (It shouldn't have passed last year but after I spent a grand at the diesel shop they put a sticker on it so I'd pay them & take the truck away... They refused the job.) I called all over to find someone who would do it. The price they want to have the parts fabricated & installed is pretty steep but I'm out of options. I didn't tell them I couldn't find anyone else. So they are going to do that & install 4 new HD shocks. Yes, the shock mou…

  7. I know you all know I've got four 100w bulbs on the bottom of both Dodge Ram trucks I have. Well over at RamForum I've seen a few Trucks with hidden fog/driving lights behind the grill. So I went to building the poor mans version from a piece of re-bar and flat stock. So now here is the stealth lights...

Any problems with my thought process ? Slowly build up the truck over next 5+ years. Might have 300000 on it. If it requires rebuild have it done say $6k for slightly over stock. Drive for another couple years and then get new paint body work say $6k. Then also do interior work say $3k. So in 7-10 years I would have a rebuilt engine.with say 100k on it - a brand new custom paint job and new interior. Basically a MINT looking 2001 in the year 2022 - still running almost new and just normal maintenance and upkeep for about $15k - and 10 years of use .... Rather than going out and buying a newer model truck. I'll be upgrading the front end here shortly anyways , as well as 3…

I need to replace my tow mirrors. Mine are maual, but I would like to have power, heated would just be a bonus. I looked into my door panel today and see 2 vacant plugs at the mirror bolts. Does anyone know if these plugs are for the power heated mirrors? I found a pair of heated power mirrors for $240 but dont want to spend the cash if they want work. I know i need the switches, still working on those. Just wondering if anyone has done this or knows if the harnesses are for the mirrors. I also cannot find any fuses for them inside the truck or under the hood.

I'm looking at adding a dump bed setup to my QCSB. "Most" kits I see are for every combo BUT the QCSB on 2G trucks. Why? WTF is so different? At any rate, anyone here have a dump bed installed? I'd prefer and OTB (over the bumper) style, and not an insert, as I've no room to store an insert when not in use.Stealth Dump Trucks, Inc. has my favorite one, but not for a 2G QCSB...EZ Dumper insert is like 1800$ and, well, it's an insert...

Okay, need a little clarification...OEM tire size lists at:245/75/R16 on my b pillar stickerI have 285/75/R16's on the truck and have had them since I got the truck.I went and did it on a calcu-mutilator and it says I go 55.6 mph with my current size compared to going 60 with OEM size.I cannot remember how this correlates to my actual speed and what the speedo says. And believe it or not, 4 areas I go through list all my speeds differently when I pass their speed sign/radars.I get them either saying I'm going 7 over or some say I'am going actual speed or going 3-5 over. Its confusing!IIRC, this should mean I'm going 60mph when my speedo says I'm going 55-56mph, right?

I've got a good bit of rust on the old girl and I can't stand it much more. I have looked at LMC and on partsgeek.com for body panels but I'm not sure of the quality. Anyone know of a good place to get quality body panels at a reasonable price. Kinda been scared to check dealer pricing. Thanks.

They'll be on my 02. The shop wants to use Spicer BJ's. Is that cause they're less cost, Or because they are good ones to use? Thanks for any thoughts

Ok so I was a little leary of doing this job in my garage but just wanted everyone to know that it was basically a piece of cake looked a lot scarier as far as the nuts being all rusty looking and stuff but once I started in on it they came apart pretty good put the ranchos 5000s in {thanks mike} and they seem to ride pretty good and half the price of bilstiens and this hell bent spacer is made pretty strong IMHO and leveled my truck out preety nice anyway its starting to warm up and im in the hunt for a set of injectors any thoughts as this is my next project leaning towards rv 275s but maybe a little bigger?

  18. I've got something odd going on with my truck. The more vexing problem is I get intermittent dimming lights that I notice when driving at night. For a tenth of a second everything will go dim, and then come back. Headlights, dash lights, interior lights if they're on, and the voltage gauge will dip from 13.x to12v and then recover.I've looked for shorts in the main battery cables and alternator charging cable, and find none; nothing is ever warm either. I've checked for loose battery connections and loose alternator connections. I'm getting close to throwing parts at it with a fresh alternator to see if that makes a difference, and an external voltage regulator if it doe…

  19. Boy, the last few days I ain't had much luck. AC goes out and now the ABS and parking brake lights are staying on. I checked for codes and got nothing and checked the fuses everything looks good there. The truck brakes just as it always has since I got the truck. The speedo and everything in the gauge cluster are working properly just the two lights are on. I know it could be several things but just wondering what order I needed to go in to fix this problem. From my searches on here I think it may be the two speed sensor up front. Would you replace them first and then if that didn't work replace the sensor in the back? If not that check the ABS motor/computer? Eit…
