  1. My steering box has a huge amount of play and was looking maybe to get a newer box from the wreckers if they are compatible? Anyone know if Gen 3 or newer are interchangeable? Is a 1500 or 2500 gas Ram the same steering box? Thanks Rick

I have the manual but it is "woefully inadequate" in its description of how to remove the Cluster Bezel.Where do you pry, which way and what "tool" do you use to "gently pry" around the perimeter?Does the "band" that joins the cluster bezel to the dash come off or stay?Do you pry between the cluster bezel and the "band"?

Well my ball joints have finally decided they've had enough. 174,XXX miles I can't complain. I can complain about Dodge's ingenious idea to rivet them in though! So who has done this? Is it a huge PITA or not too bad. Truck is a 2wd dually. I found some moog joints from rockauto.com for $350.00 shipped. Deciding to do it myself or pay for it to be done.

Well my drivers seat was killing my hip due to the foam starting to break down. I did some reading http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3rd-gen-non-powertrain/129591-front-seat-foam-3.html on refoaming parts of your seat. I had the typical left bolster sagging. Pulling the cover off was pretty easy. In doing so I also found out why my heated seat isn't working. Broken wire and was burning the seat foam! I removed the foam from the base. and glued some burlap to the bottom to give some support to where the springs were starting to cut the foam. I also re-glued the Left side bolster back to the main cushion since it was starting to separate. I then took some 1" foam and built …

Ok, I have a 98.5 24v 5 speed gvrw of 10,500.00 and a 50' kaufman car hauler trailer, How do I know how much weight I can to with it? I plan on staying below 26000 lbs as its a heck of a lot harder to structure the business with that much weight plus I think its above what the truck can handle (possibly). I just worry that my truck is to small for this work but then again I see people toting cars around all the time in 1 ton dually diesels.. Do I have anything to worry about? Thanks.

  12. Ok. The 4x4 works sometimes and not other times. The light rarely comes on when in 4x4. To start things off I was out driving in some snow this winter in 4x4(or at least the lever was in 4x4) and I was going up a small hill and all of a sudden the 4x4 quit working. I never heard any grinding or anything. 4x4 hi and 4x4 lo was both the same. I moved the lever from Hi to Lo several time and then It started working. So I figured the linkage was out of adjustment. So next day I adjusted it and it seemed to work although the light was not on. Couple weeks later I ran into some mud and got it stuck. Turns out the 4x4 still was not working right. After moving the lever from hi t…

Being the single most important part on our trucks I thought I would toss some thoughts out there for your opinions. To start I have had other 3/4ton trucks though none with a heavy diesel motor and they seem to perform well with stock brake my rotors will last about a 100k and the pads 50-60k on the two gassers I have that are driveable. Now my diesel ram chewed up my rotors and pads in 30k miles is this normal? The pads where ebc greenstuff 600 for the 8800gvwr not the 7500gvwr almost biffed that this go round and stock rotors at 225,800 miles the front brakes where completly overhauled new lines, calipers, cleaned and wire brushed the caliper mounts, rotors and pads…

  16. I bought my '99 Dodge diesel Ram 2500 new in October '99 and now have about 212,000 miles. The power steering has always been fine but lately has faded out while trying to park or making rapid turns in opposite directions. It doesn't seem to do this when the engine and power steering system is cold. I drive 30 miles to work and it will sometimes do it while parking at the office. At times it only acts up for a moment but at other times the steering stays difficult until the truck is parked and the engine turned off. During all of this the power brakes seem to be OK. The power steering fluid got low a couple of months ago but I simply refilled the pump. A leak was never fo…

I was looking at my truck today and someone installed the sun visors that has the lights on the side, but they never worked. I took the pillar off on the drivers side and there's two yellow wires there that were cut, one has a tracer and the other is solid. Both wires with key on has only 6 volts through them. What we ended up doing was running a new fused wire up to the visors and got both side to light now so that's noty really my issue, what I don't know is how the rear view mirror is wired because thos wires were hacked up too. The wires coming off the mirror are a blk, purple and a blue with a tracer. Can anyone tell me how to hook this mirror up? Could the 6 volt w…

Need a little insight. After installing my new injectors, my blend door quit working. I found 1 vacuum line that I had knocked off the tee on the bottom of the wind shield cowl. I reconnect but the blend door still isn't functioning. I there anything else I can check. Also does anyone have a detailed vacuum line routing Diagram?
