My fuel gauge only reads between full and a little over half full.Is this a problem on 2001's, I know on my 96 it was common except itwould not work at all. What can I check out with out dropping tank?Does the overhead display that gives mpg readout use the gauge to compute totals.ThanksDavid

I Have a ABS and Brake light that has come on, It is showing two codes in the computer. #1. Code 82. Number of tone ring teeth out of range. and #2. Code 51. Rear insulator valve open. What does this all mean? What do they have to do with the ABS and BRAKE lights? speedo works too. what about checking the HCU for any wires melted due water running into the connector? Does anybody got a code list of all the codes?

  6. I know my OEM headlights may be brighter then my ideas, but I can't see very well at night. Lots of us have poor lighting on our trucks, we spend hundreds and thousands modifying the truck, but most have stock OEM lights.Estimating cost at under $340 shipped for new sport headlights with a new set of bulbs and wiring harness. Would there be much interest in a plug and play kit with the sport lighting which uses a 9004 &9007 bulb at the same time in each headlight instead of just the 9004?Tipsto get better light you can:1. can use rubbing compound or degreaser on your yellowing lights to clear obstructed lenses2. do not use blue tinted lights or the "WHITE"' lights a…

  7. When working on removing the blend door motor make sure the temp control is in the centered position or it will loose its indexing. This is a site I found a while ago with a cure for broke blend door. It has good info also. They say that you can open up the motor and recalibrate/reindex it if it has rotated out of spec they will include info on how to do it in the directions of the parts to fix the door. http://www.heatertreater.net/Dodge%20Ram%2095-02.htm

This was my leak found where the pitman arm attaches to the box. First strap your steering wheel to something like the seat so it can not move.Losen your hoses and make sure to put a pan under the truck. Make sure to replace the o-rings on any fitting that was opened. This pic shows both hoses gone due to a leak in my return hose that needed replacing.Loosen the pinch bolt on the steering column shaft coupling that attaches to the box. Getting this back on with a remanned box can be difficult if the teeth are buggered up...use some grease. I had to line the flat side up in the right spot and tap it on with a hammer.…

After reading some information from edcasey on CF and seeing this post from another site from him http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=303816&postcount=4 I am really starting to think about converting my truck. I had originally planned to purchase a 3/4 ton but I found this 3500 for a decent price in fairly good shape with every option I wanted, except the dual rear wheels. It not that the truck is hard to maneuver or anything but I am sure it would improve the ride, provide better off-road and winter weather traction, and be two less tires to replace. Doesn't seem that its that hard to do and according to edcasey the dually axle is hardly noticeabl…

Guys, Am still having problems with the heating and cooling in the cab of the truck. Driving home tonight it was getting a bit chilly here, in the mid 50's. Turned the heat control from full cold to mid-way up the scale. Nothing happened at all. Had the blower on fresh air. Turned it 3/4rd hot and still no change. Finally went full tilt hot and about 3-5 seconds later heard a vent door shut and immediately it got full hot.Ok, so we know that there is hot water in the heater core. Turned the temp control back to 1/2 scale and no change. Turned it back to full cold and no change, its still full tilt hot. After about 15 seconds it went from full hot to full cold outside air.…

Its time to fit the ride with some new tread so I thought I would get some input. Currently running 265/75/16 (stock). I know for certain I want a highway tread type tire. Some questions:1. Should I go back with stock size?2. What is the biggest size I can fit on the stock rim?3. Will I need a leveling kit with a bigger size? 4. Brands to consider? Anyone run the Chinese brand BCT?5. How much does a bigger size impact the speedo?

  15. ABS Failure - Diagnostics Tips 4 Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System 2 Wheel Anti-Lock Brake System (RWAL - Rear Wheel Anti-Lock) I find its really common to hear people complain about ABS and BRAKE lights being lit. There is a few simple things you can do to diagnose your problem. [*] Check your ABS fuses under the hood fuse #11 and check the #3 fuse inside the cab (driver side door jamb). Replace any that are blown. [*]Step on you brake pedal and see if the tail lights light up and turn off when released. If not repair the brake light switch. [*]Shift the transfer case into 4WD and check if the 4WD light comes on. (4WD equipped vehicles). If not repa…

I've had the truck back from it's lastest trip to the shop... Before the air vents contols worked. Now, it only blows on the windshield (defrost position)... both hot & cold. I think this is a vacume line. I don't know where this runs but I bet it's damaged or fallen off.I'd really like to have my truck worked on & not have new problems when it comes back.Russ

My truck is real long. Recently I had a couple of real close calls with *ss *oles I could not see, riding in my blind spots. I see some vehicles with the mirror turn signals but I don't really want to mess with my trailer mirrors.I'm thinking of adding some somewhere... Maybe behind the cab on top of the bed (I don't run a tool box, so that space is available). Or maybe LEDs under the truck, but I'm not sold on that approach yet. I don't like the idea of plugging into trailer socket as I've had corrosion problems leaving my gooseneck extension plugged in. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a T tap made for my truck, nor a place to put one in the harness. I'd …

  19. Hello all, I replaced the clock spring yesterday. And no cruise control with new one installed. On the old clock spring I would get it once in a while. But after install I took for a spin and nothing. No light in dash. Do I need to go in with my Snap On Modus and clear any codes due to disconnecting the air bag? Is didn't find any fuse. Or maybe I over looked it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,John

i noticed 2 days ago my transmission got REAL hard to shift gears. well not out of gear, but into gear. i started double pump'n and it is better. i have nv4500 and i checked fluid levels(clutch master and trans). the trans fluid was full and still pretty clear. i flushed the fluid 30-40k ago and filled with dealership fluid. i noticed that the slave cyclinder doesn't have a bleeder valve. the chilton book says the hydraulics are sealed and don't need to be bleed.so...does it sound like the clutch is wore or like i need to bleed?
