2nd Generation Dodge Reliability / Performance

This is a discussion forum of the 1994 to 2002 2nd Generation Dodge Ram Trucks with 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel of performance and longevity. This includes tricks of getting more MPG, HP/TQ, or just getting to the next milestone.

  1. Took the truck up in the mountains for a little off road fun, just following the trails to see where they go for the better part of the morning....Can you guess my family is out of town? GB

  5. Announcement: I will start producing a combination high idle/3 cyl high idle/MPG fooler box in a quality manner. This will not be a 1 time thing. I am going to order in bulk & produce probably 25 at a time. All plug & play with a small durable weatherproof connector to go through the firewall. ECT & IAT wiring will be OEM style plugs so that you do not have to cut & splice the harness. It'll be similar to the MAP sensor harness on a tuner or boost fooler:Unplug connector from sensor, plug in HI/MPG plug to sensor & plug in HI/MPG plug to truck's harness.I am trying to work with a well known diesel performance distributor, so that it will always be…

Well after gettin my 02 totaled by a Jack A$$ and not having a truck for 4 months and having diesel withdrawal I finally got another truck. I wanted the same options if not a better and I got myself a pretty good replacement. Its a 01.5 High Output 4x4 6spd. Only difference this time is the 4x4. This one has a few upgrades. Rebuilt Trans with Valair SD and a new VP44. Has rv275, edge comp, Banks intake horn, AFE intake (which i will be replacing) Magnaflow 4" TBE, Raptor 150, 08.5 end links and drag link with Bilstein stabilizer, BD Box Brace. Its leveled with Weld Racing Cheyennes and 35s. Do not like the wheel back spacing and offset so will try to sell the wheels an…

  10. Just posting because I wasted a BUNCH of time trying to build a DIY big line/relocation kit and couldn't do it for much less than Vulcan... so I'm basically venting.I have a new DDRP that I just installed a month or so ago and I've been wanting to relocate it closer to the tank and upgrade to 3/8" lines from tank to VP. I get about 17psi at idle and around 12-13psi at WOT with a new FF but I still want to move it so the pump will last longer etc.I saw the Vulcan Pusher Kit for about $120 + the DDRP bracket $12 + Shipping $15 = $147 and thought there was no way it was worth it.Long story, but after searching all over and finding the parts at different hydraulic and automo…

I'm going to publicly say this. I've gotten a phone call from another member asking all these questions about ground wire mod and having to add the second ground strip from battery to battery this is NOT REQUIRED nor will you gain NOTHING! Just because W-T has a ham transmitter for his truck and draws large amounts of power. If the main cables are in good condition there will be ZERO drop or very little less than 0.2 volts. The existing main ground cables going to the block are more that enough. If you do a voltage drop test of your cables your going to find out if you have weak ground cables or positive cables. Anything over 0.2 volts voltage drop is a fail f…

Anyone have issues with this? I for the life of me cant seem to figure out how or where water could be getting inside the cable. It has been isopropyl dipped and dried, lubed with cable lube and yet it still freezes. It's not even that old, four or five years at most. I plow with this truck so moisture is definitely an issue getting into everything it shouldnt but I just can't find the source of water ingress. Anyone have this issue? Is there a better aftermarket cable to buy? A modification?
