Well Gang... I finally got my feet wet and modified my Jayco Eagle my way. I added a battery cutoff switch and a true battery volt meter. It all tucked away in the power cabinet so its out of site out of mind. Bjut the reason for putting the cut off switch in the cabinet was I could take my trailer out to a camp site in the wood and park it and lock it up. I can shut down the power and know when I return that no one has tampered with the power because its locked up inside. Like I've see lot of idea where the battery cutoff is on the battery box but I was looking for a secure way. Also in the design of all this I set it up so if I'm hooked to 120VAC I can still keep t…

Help me with some measurement figures. I was told towing a 5th wheel with a short bed would be fine with a slider but I think I was lied to. Sure I can tow any 5th wheel.....as long as I only go straight. My current 5th wheel hitch has the kingpin 41" from the cab and the slider moves back about 12" or so for tight maneuvers. Trying to find a 5th wheel that will allow normal daily driving is proving to be far more difficult that I was led to believe.

I need to jack up one wheel on the toy hauler so I can remove the wheel & screw in the wheel well repair. The camper is "parked" tonge jack down, all stabilizer jacks down, trailer leveled. I've tried all the jacks I have at hand... a 3 ton floor jack, a couple of bottle jacks (one marked 3 tons, the other unlabeled). I'm jacking under the spring plate under this axle. I can't get the wheel off the ground. What the h*ck am I doing wrong?

See I ended up with (2) full old-style propane tanks... meanwhile everything we use has been replaced with more recent style connectors. In the past I did not worry as I recycled an old style regulator & fitting onto the newer appliance. I figured I'd use them up on the gas grill. Well, the folks that make them changed that fitting to a crimp on... Sooo, long story short, I have (2) full 30's off my old camper which I could not use the propane.I finally located the correct adaptor fitting & ordered one. So when it came it had RED LOCKTITE on the threads and the spanner wrench to install it... the notches in the adaptor body were install only. I am sick of…

i just got my 5th wheel out into service again. first time it has been out in alittle over a year. when i used the 12 volt lights all was good for about 30 minutes. then the lights started flashing on and off rapidly and continued to do this until i turned them off. i have had them on several times since with the same results. i never had to work on this system before and am not sure where to start. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Based on some comments I recently read I was wondering what everyone does. I use cruise as often as possible. I find it runs more stable EGT's and provides better economy.

We discovered before we left that one tank we were using was almost empty & the one we thought was "full" was completely empty. I had a inline gauge (old style fittings) but it really was not useful. I recall seeing stick on magnetic gauges... not sure if they work. I'm not comfortable with the blind "switch over when it runs out" plan.

I am a bit lost... my last one (back before the dawn of time) had a pilot light! The fridge works fine on AC. Refused to start on propane. Gives a 'F' code (as in U R F-ed). I was able to "fire it up" with a grill lighter... and it kept cold for 24-48 hours. Once I saw a C before the F codes. When trying to start on propane I can hear a clicking at the back in the access hatch. Does anybody know these units?

OK, the ToyHauler Camper has a Salvage title... signs of repair in the front bedroom/nose. A couple of weeks ago, I discovered after a rain that the track of a sliding window was full of water & just beginning to overflow onto the ledge. I moped it up... then found the drain slots had a spongy material in them... clogged with dirt. I pushed in in with a thin putty knife and then those windows drain decently. I went around the outside & did al of the sliding windows. The front bedroom has a fixed panel window / emergency exit at the head of the bed... top hinged to pop up when unlatched. This unit has 4 small holes, no slot. Today, my dear wife goes out t…

Somewhere in my big book of projects, I need to redo the wiring on my car trailer. Just a plain old 18' hauler. I know the wiring schematic, just looking for ideas on execution. Not sure if I want to add a breakaway switch or not. I probably should. One idea is to put a 7 way connector on the trailer like the truck and have a doulbe male ended patch cord to connect the 2. No hanging wires to catch. If I get 7 conductor trailer cable, I basically have to cut the jacket off at the axles to pull the brake wires out then just run the remaining wires for the lights. Or I could get a parallel pair for the brakes and the 4 conductor wire for the lights. I might also need a 7 st…

I don't have numbers but I know my MPG takes a dive. Since my overhead is still accurate (stock) I habitually leave it on... & see an immediate loss in the AVE MPG. I have heard similar comments from others. In my case, the trailer is a simple 16' single axle landscaper's trailer. No brakes. It does have the expanded metal mesh ramps. It I'm running empty, I can & have laid the ramps forward flat on the deck with a tiedown, though never checked MPG like that. I'm not hauling hay anymore but this is the only pict I have available. It does give a good idea of the trailer & the amount of nose high angle. I do notice the the trailer is sti…

Pursuant to a conversation above:http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/3799-Stock-Filter-Box-full-of-mouse-nest... What have you done? What tools & devices have you used? What has worked for you? to keep Rodents, mice, rats, chipmunks, squirrels out of your vehicles. I"m posting this under Campers & RVs because this is an annual rutual with them... though advise need not apply to only RVs. Please be as specific as possible... brand names, sources, how you used it. Russ
