The time has come to produce the Mopar1973Man High Idle & MPG fooler switches again.

Posted

Well Gang,

The Board of Directors on the Mopar1973Man.com has decided that we need to produce some new High Idle Switches for the 2nd gen 24V Cummins.  We have spent a considerable amount of time designing a Brand New High Idle / MPG fooler Switch.

We have learned from the last switch design and have made significant improvements.  The New High Idle / MPG Fooler switch will be the same price as before, but it will be more robust and modular to allow for easier install.

We have decided to only offer a "Install Anywhere  Kit" rather than a gauge mount or Cubby Mount.  You will nly have to drill one 1/4" hole to allow for the fitment of the switch.

Some teaser pictures.

We are making 50 switches to start then another run of 50 after that.  You can order them from The Mopar1973Man.com Store I expect to have them ready to ship within a 6 week time.

  • I finally installed my high idle switch today.  I put in in the overhead console.  The cable that comes with the switch is just a little too short.  I ordered a 12" extension from Amazon and I was abl

The beta Harness is complete.  Will have to test it with the board.  If the harness passes then the rest of the harnesses can be built.

Teasing isn't cool.....  :gun:

I might have to stop by next weekend and check these guys out!

If you want I can PM you my address and I'll test it out for you. :hyper:

Take notice the harness is NOT attached to the circuit board. That one of the upgrade from previous version. Also the fact the new high idle is going to be mounted on a circuit board this time and not direct soldered.

Should make the install a breeze. When I removed my old one it was a real PITA trying to get the 4 plugs through the firewall. With this style there should only be one  :thumb1:

I am interested one also. Will it have the same features as the old one with 6 and 3 cyclinder high idle along with the mpg fooler?

The concept and function will be the same. The fooler itself is just redesigned to be better.

Very excited to finally get my high idle switch! Will the modular version be compact enough to mount into the insert up where the trip computer/compass thing is on the fancy model?

I am not sure yet.  I would like to put mine up there also, but the board may be too deep and too long.  I will let you know when I get my switch in.

I'm thinking of installing mine in place of my non-existent cig plug

The new mounting method requires the end user drill a ~1/4 hole to mount through.  The cig hole would have to be filled, then have a hole drilled in it.

Does that make since?

This is where I would like to mount mine also. Could you have the switch in one location and the board in another? LIke my isspro pryo amp box?

No the switch is mounted to the board.  this is to ensure that the switch doesn't have to take the abuse of wires hanging off the back of it.

the board itself is only 1" by 1.5" or something like that.  It won't require much space, but I am not going to promise that it will fit until I get one done.

That shouldn't be a problem I'm sure I can come up with something clean. Approximately how much space is needed for the board? Never mind just read your next post

Well, here's hoping it fits! That blank insert has been bothering me for years; it needs switches! I'd like to put my high-idle switch up there next to my EZ toggle switch.

Will there be a way to pre-order these kits, to make sure I don't miss out on the first round? Or will it be first come first serve?

Alright I have hammered out the barneys side. I have made a couple that are exactly the same so the process of putting them together is efficent.
