Today I was checking the availability of camp sites at Catfish Junction RV Park on their WEB site for the weekend of 8-18-2017 thru 8-22-2017 and found nothing was available.  I'm thinking 'is everyone making reservation this far out'?  Well no, I called their office and spoke with an extremely pleasant and helpful woman.  She said   that they have been having problems with that part of their web site and people should call in so they can get up to the minute info.  She took my name and already had my phone number, so with no money down I have my site reserved.   She said to "just call and cancel if you can't make it".

There is a body of water next to the site.  Nothing better than a river to cool you off.

If your going to do that bring some junk shoes or good river saddles.. I'm sure the river bottom is full of old fishing hooks.

Actually here in my yard I've got a 1 1/2" fire hydrant with 118 PSI of pressure so let me flip out a 100 feet of hose and we can have a water fight.

Just looking over the map for the eclipse its going to go right over Weiser, Idaho just about. Looks about Council, ID is the northern border and then just bit north of Caldwell, Idaho is the southern boarder. So the problem is if you go north into the trees and mountain your range of view will be bad unless you got a ATV and can ride to look out tower. Down around Weiser, ID is nothing but high desert and low rolling hills so your range of view is really good. Just very little for trees down there.

I've checked other camp grounds in the path of the eclipse and the ones that take reservations in the National Parks are booked into September right now so next year will be the same. Any reservations would have to be made in December 2016 or January 2017 to guarantee a spot and anyone wanting to join later would be out of luck.  If we go to a non-reservation campground there is no guarantee of a place for all who wanted to come.  At Catfish we have an idea of what we're going to be dealing with.

 

I have a/c in my 5er and do a lot of camp with no shade in 90°+, so yes shade would be nice but no big deal, give it to those that need it.  Having full hookups would be nice even for a couple of days so I can refill my water tank, dump my other tanks and recharge the batteries.  After we leave Catfish we're headed for Glacier National Park and then down to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons and will be dry camping along the way.

As for the bugs,  no matter were you go there they are.  Bring your insect repellent and bug zappers.  

 

 

It's actually a good place even w/o shade because those that boon dock are close enough to walk over/ visit with those that want full hook ups. It works this way and IBM and I have canopies for shade  and there's a beer store there

Look s like Casper WY would be a good spot

Should start considering breaking this into group. West coast group is going to catfish. Then who ever else want to create you can made plans for the your area too.

Hope you don't mind going 55 mph. Better economy. I need to clean my radiator too. Cabbage Hill might overheat me.

I was able to clean mine without pulling it front the truck

 

1. Pull the upper hose and tie it back to prevent loss of coolant

2. pull the fan

3. pull the fan shroud

4 Get a bottle of this

5. spray on radiator and let sit for 20 minutes.

I went from overheating (220*f+ driving VERY easy to keep temp in check) with tuner off pulling up the pass to pulling the pass with tuner turned up with the same load at 200*f no issues.

another 5 minutes and you could have had the radiator pulled out of the truck.  When I did mine, I contemplated spraying the radiator while it was still installed.  I had just flushed the coolant and didn't want to dump it.  I ended up pulling it and I couldn't believe the grime that was hidden and I couldn't see when it was installed.  The radiator is too east to pull out, why not do that and get your eyes on all of it.

Yeah, I want to pull it out. Old puke bottle made a mess of it. Did the breather mod, so no more spilled oil. The old puke bottle had holes in it...so anything that puked went straight to the radiator and engine and ground. Before I did the mod, I was loosing like a quart every few weeks. Now I never need to add oil between changes...except when I change the Frantz filter.

I didn't want to drain all the coolant haha.  I just replaced the waterpump a few months ago and had to replace the coolant.  

I'll start with a coolant system pressure test. Then clean radiator and flush engine.

 

Anything recommend for flushing inside of radiator?

I've never used anything for flushing the inside of the radiator except for water.  I know prestone and I'm sure others have a flushing product out there.

Go for breakfast at Beavercreek and then head out. Love their breakfast there.

 

Don't mind 55 I can see us living longer not driving suicidal and not stressed over passing everyone.
