I feel that it is time to start building a list of tunes that we all use.

Please learn what each tuning variable does.  There V2 tuning article covers everything in depth along with a video explaining each item.

This tool will allow you to edit Quadzilla tunes from your PC.

Update 1/15/17 V2.2 tunes should include timing maxes for various RPM's and fuel load timing

Not at this point. We are working on something that will enable measureing those as well but we don't have them in production yet. It will be some time.  -thanks again,

  • yep, most complain coming to V2 tuning because they are used to the butt dyno telling them "WOW I just touch the throttle and it jumps out of it's own skin"       what people don't consider

@Mopar1973Man  still running 3* of cruise timing?  That will try to get timing at 20* when at cruise.

  • Owner

My stupid mind.

I was remembering the warmer weather and early version of timing numbers. Now my last trip I ran Lvl 0 and watch for nearly 50 miles of how the timing was in stock power. Then flipped back to mine and I was retarding fairly heavy. So I aimed for about 1-2* gain over stock roughly to start a base tune. Then I'll play more with it on this next trip down to Boise on Tuesday. So now you have to take in account of the weather, temperature, and IAT. This all changes things up a bit. So I'll work from just above stock to hopefully find that happy MPG spot again.

So I'm trying to understand the power levels when you custom tune, what exactly do they Mean for example when  you make level 6 is level 6 the level of the tune you just created or the amount of levels it takes to get to the to the max of that level?

  • Author

More power levels don't mean more power, just a smaller bump in power per lvl.

Lvls 0-3 don't change so it's only lvls 4- whatever as your wiretap.

  • Owner

Like I use 7 power levels this gives me...

0 Stock

1 Reduced power

2 CANBus

3 CANBus

4 33% of wire tap.

5 66% of wire tap.

6 Full wire tap

Remember you alway have to count ZERO as a number. So my power levels would just divide up the power even more into small amounts. So your affect the bold amount and how much your dividing the power per level.

Might take a peek at my economy tune as well. I've been keeping the Excel up to date when I make changes.

  • 3 weeks later...

@Me78569 and @TFaoro What's up guys, I love the 2.2 tuning, I just wish the App was easier to use.

I have a friend with a built 2002 automatic, running a quad 4k box. He's running 7x14 injectors with a 188/220 cam, and S366/S475 crazy carls compounds. I am trying to get him on the forum here.

Can his 4k box run the hard fuel v2.2 tuning?

@TFaoro, what kind of tune are you running for daily and race?

Also a couple observations I made with the new tuning:

Big injectors do not automatically determine the back down in canbus fuel, I say this because my DD tune I start my canbus % at 82% and cruise timing is only 1* but recently I have been running a highway tune which the canbus % starts at 100%, but the timing is 4*. What I discovered is that because of injector size, timing is very important for the smoke control. The fuel needs more time to atomize and light off. also when reducing % of canbus fuel, the truck will respond better to less timing since we are bringing the fueling closer to stock. So far I get no smoke dding and almost none when I pass people on the highway. I seem to be averaging 22-24 mpg combined on my commutes.

Note the 11 - 13 psi range how I did not increase canbus fueling.  This is so that when wiretap starts to apply we have a smooth increase in fueling and no smoke.  Once wiretap is started you can then start adding more canbus.  Keep in mind that all you need to hit the max fueling of 4095 is about 115% up top.

this tune still makes good power, prob north of 350 hp on my truck but is %100 smoke / haze free regardless of what you do with the pedal at ANY point in time.

My emissions tests are snap tests at

35 mph

45 mph

55 mph

65 mph

I am allowed up to %20 opacity,  the smarty set to half power mode did %7 last year.   My visible emissions are less this year from what I can see in the tailpipe, but I am required to do testing within the next month I think.

Also keep in mind Colorado Springs is at 6500' where I get tested so the %20 is really low for our altitude, last time I checked even Cali was allowing %30....

I have what feels like a miss or bucking when I have my Tow tune in. I think it has to do with timing. With the quad set to level 0 is goes away.

Happens in 6th gear with 48%+ engine load between 50-60 and timing is 15-16.

What level(s) is it surging on?

A few things I see: Why do you have timing reduction at 5* and 100%??? You definitely don't need that, especially with the stock turbo and bigger injectors.

Your fuel stretch is huge.... I would back that down to 12-1500, especially for towing.

Can you attach a data log of this event?  We need to see what everything is doing.

.5 not 5

Working on finding my log.

Not the log I am looking for but might work.

Something doesn't make sense in that log.  I am seeing you got WOT but canbus fueling is not increasing nor is rpm.

Are you hooked up to a heavy load in this log?   What level is the Quad on?

Maybe gross 7k.

I don't think that is the log I was looking for. It may have to wait till I pull again.

I have noticed since we updated my box that idle timing had went from 13 to 11 when truck is warmed up.

I will I'll try to get a log for 60mph again so I can have something to compare it to.

I still haven't seen cruise timing come in.
