Hello guys I thought it was my tappet cover but I replaced and still leaks, is there a common spot for oil to leak causing it to get on VP 44 lined and it runs down the top of tappet cover down back and drips

Check your crank case vent, the fan can blow oil all over the front of engine then it drips down. Also check the seal between the vacuum and power steering pumps. The only thing else I can think of is the valve cover. Can you post a picture of the leak?

The fan and wind will surely blow it around. When my tappet cover was leaking it dripped off both sides motor. Replaced it and it stopped. Now I think  my vacuum pump, timing cover and maybe front main seal is leaking and its blowing all over too and looks like it's leaking every where.

You'll have to wash it all down and do short trips and attempt to spot the source. Like I've got a leak at that gasket between the gear case and block and the very tall end of the tappet cover.

 

I just changed a tappet cover on another Cummins as well make sure not do what the previous nimrod did to pile on all kind of different sealant. OEM Tappet cover was just a rubber seal without sealants. You can lightly cover the edge of the cover with silicone and then slip the seal on the edge of the cover. Make sure the wide edge is towards the block. 

 

I've also got a bad oil cap o-ring that is capable of blowing oil out on the rim of the valve cover and then running down the back of the engine mostly on the drivers side giving the illusion of worse problem.

Clean the side of the block really well and let it dry.  Use flour (yes flour) all over the side of the engine. (you just throw it on there)  go for a drive.  since the flour is very white, fresh oil leaks will stain the flour.   It doesn't stick well on vertical surfaces but enough should hang on the gaskets and in the cracks to help you see it.  I also wondered (but have not tried) if NDT developer would work (it is bright white, sprays on and is usually not too hard to remove...)

I bought new gasket replaced and it, well it looked like my head was leaking so I made new thread hope to see yall there also buying another damn tappet cover gasket while I'm out :( just bought one GRRRR
