So about a year ago I had purchased an Edge Juice With Attitude and a CS2 monitor while on the search for a bump in performance. Before that I had an old Diablo power puck, the power gains were definitely noticeable. I went on driving with the EJWA and loved the power it made but hated the amount of smoke it produced. During my last deployment I was reading up on here and I kept seeing Mopar1973man's article about switching over to a Quadzilla and the different features that were available with it and I thought to my self "It can't be better than my EJWA, they're both wiretap tuners". I did a little more research and saw that the V2 tuning was going to allow for custom tunes which my tuner at the time did not and I knew that would be a handy feature for when I put on my compound setup. I decided to go ahead and pull the plug on the Quadzilla iQuad just to test it out to see if it would live up to the hype, even though I had my doubts.

I got around to pulling my EJWA yesterday and hooked up the Quadzilla with the Standard Fuel tune, setup my phone with my gauges, and took off for a test drive. I was absolutely blown away, I thought there would be very minimal changes on how the truck was going to drive but I was dead WRONG. I noticed a huge reduction in low boost smoke, exactly what I wanted! :hyper:  But not only that, the amount of power it delivers is also a day and night difference. I'm legitimately scared to do any pulls at WOT. The way the Quadzilla handles timing and fueling feels completely different than the EJWA. The engine idles smoother and the power kicks in much harder. I'm pretty sure I'm slipping the clutch on level 10 at 50% throttle, something the EJWA never did at level 5 at 100% throttle. (Good thing I have a Velair DD waiting to go in this week).

The truck now feels like an absolute animal and I can't wait to start messing with the custom tuning when I put in my compound setup this week. Now all I need is some 3.54/3.55 gearing so that I can get even better gas mileage during my frequent 8 hour drives from New Mexico to San Antonio, I just hope I don't get into any trouble with this beast. :burnout:

    Knowledge of timing is power

  • Welcome to the club.  We are all still learning what our trucks like.     If you thought the default tune pulled hard wait until you get into the timing tuning.  I recently found out my truc

Would the V2 be beneficial on a basically stock truck, leaving it untapped? Yes my trans is stock. Within the next year I'll be paying FirePunk a visit. But until then, I just have the HX35 swap, 50 hp injectors, and Edge EZ.

Still even untapped you gain the control of better fueling curve custom fitted to your needs. Then you can set your own timing curve that fits your driving style. That is the problem with all the older boxed tuners like Edge. You basically took the tune they build and had to be happy with it. Quadzilla you can still adjust both the timing and fuel curves for just the CANBus. I'm still currently untapped on my VP44 and running +75HP 7x0.0085 injectors.

Well here's a question. I haven't installed the 50 HP injectors yet. Would it be fine to go step up to a larger injector with the HX turbo and use the V2 to limit fueling? Then when funds allow the trans and turbo to get upgraded, adjust the tune accordingly.

yes you can do what you want in the tune.  I doubt you will have to do much to "control" the 50's.   at this point I recommend nothing less than 7 x .010's

Well the injectors have been on the shelf for over a year. Too many irons in the fire all the time. With my truck down needing a VP44, I was going to do injectors and adjust the valves. So I figure since the valve cover will be off, instead of doing injectors twice, just sell the 50's and go bigger.

I would personally.  The amount of meat you gain under the curve is huge when you step up to bigger injectors.  Then you tune to control how much and at what point you want the fuel.

I'll see if I can find a buyer for the 50's......and Edge EZ.........

I'd say go for it.

Yes. That's the beauty of the V2 tuning. And then if you ever step up in turbo or injector size again, it's easy to retune again.

Sorry, got all excited and responded before all the other responses loaded.

I guess I need to decide if I can bring myself to spend more. I initially made mind my up I was only going to do 50's and the EZ.

The struggle is real :)

I understand.  The quadzilla tuning really shines if you want to play wiht tuning and if you need to control your injectors.   on a near stock truck the perks aren't as big. Of course I want you to run my tuning, but I understand the issues justifying.

Ok, maybe a dumb question here. With any tune made or the custom tunes available on here, do the tunes have the power levels
(i.e. 0-6)?

yes all tunes have power levels,

The tuning article has the levels covered.

Thank you. I am actually reading the article now.

Ok, I also just ditched my edge jwa and switched to the Adrenaline iQuad BT. Im pretty sure this stuff is far to advanced for me as i am not a tech savy guy. Can Someone give me a crash course in loading tunes? I watched the video about downloading from the repository and when i download it says it says i cannot open json files and it doesnt do anything in the quad app. Is there a way to see what settings you guys used and just manually input them? The last thing i want to do is go entering random numbers when i have no clue what I'm doing. Any help would be seriously appreciated.

I know I'm dumb now but i will learn!

You can enter tunes from this thread

Do you have a Samsung Device by chance?

At least with my Android LG G5 cellphone I've found that the iQuad App has to open before clicking on the tune you want to import from the Download App. Then it works just fine. If the iQuad App is not running I get the same results of error or nothing happens.
