Posted September 5, 20177 yr I remember someone here who had one of these and some seemed interested in them. Then I stumbled on the this today if anyone is interested. https://www.hoeslidiesel.com/collections/1998-5-2002-cummins-24-valve/products/cast-aluminum-valve-cover
September 5, 20177 yr Check availability before ordering from them. They seem to either be getting them re-casted (as Cummins stopped) or buying up every used one they can find.

September 6, 20177 yr Author Well I ordered one Sunday evening and they say it has shipped, though for the moment I cannot track it. So we shall see whats going on.

September 7, 20177 yr Wow that's tight in there. Do you have to pull the engine to work on the top end? Mine's not nearly that tight but at the expense of the mechanical fan. I will definitely be getting one of those! Edited September 7, 20177 yr by Scottfunk
September 7, 20177 yr Author Mine will be here when I get home this weekend. i'll post up some photos of it. Yes you can work on the top end without removing the engine. @CTcummins24V is a typical under hood picture. But while 5 and 6 are a little hard to reach it could be worse. The only thing I have ever done on mine is change the injectors and adjust the valves. Never pulled the head but several here have. But I will say I can see much more of my engine that you can see of yours. 5 and 6 look easier on yours to get to. That is a nice looking job you have done with it, hope you get all the bugs worked out.
September 9, 20177 yr Author Well got home and to my liking the new valve cover was sitting on the porch awaiting my return. It came in a Cummins box, but looked like maybe it was reused. It had been originally stapled shut, but was taped over with the appearance of an old label. Opened it up and if look at the casting at #5 you can see the made in India cast into the cover. To the right of that is the Cummins part#. This might be a second. On the outside there is a small circle with a nick in the casting. I am happy with what I got. Maybe Cummins has some one in India making them for them or maybe not. I think anyone would be happy with it. The one thing i cant remember is if the OE come with any groove for the VC gasket. I just cant remember. This one is flat on the mating surface. Just to add, looking at the Cummins label on the box it says. Origin IN. Assuming that means India.
